5 Stars! ~ This is a fast paced dramatic lovestory that will touch your heart from the first pages.!
The Sheikh Surgeon’s Proposal by Olivia Gates
Mills & Boon Medical # ? ~ February 2008
Harlequin Medical Romance # 346 – April 2008
It had been two months since Janaan Latimer’s mother had committed suicide, and now she had the opportunity to travel to Damhoor and learn about the other half of her heritage. Only her father too was dead, and her half-siblings wanted nothing to do with Jay. Not wanting to leave Damhoor without learning more about the culture, Jay joined the GAO (Global Aid Organization) as a field doctor to the impoverished desert tribes. Sheikh Malek Aal Hamdaan thought he was dreaming the first moment he set eyes on Janaan. Malek was the Minister of Health and the leader of the GAO mission in Damhoor. From the moment their eyes met they were in tune, as if their souls had met before. Working together brings them even closer, though Malek must push Jay away for her own good. There is no future to their relationship. Malek isn’t just any prince of the desert; he’s the Crown Prince, and as such, he has obligations to his father and his country. Obligations that care not that his heart and soul belong to Janaan.
Oh my! I want my own Sheikh Malek! I just adore Ms. Gates’ heroes; they are all so tortured, so honourable; and they cherish the women of their hearts. Malek is a man I think every woman yearns for. He’s decisive, talented as a surgeon and doctor, deeply committed in his duty to his people. Jay is a strong woman who has overcome many hardships, and yet her capacity to give to others seems never ending. As they are swept from one incredible medical crisis to another; they uncover a bond that is richly intense. Their sexual tension is palpable; as is their joy in loving each other. This is a fast paced dramatic lovestory that will touch your heart from the first pages. This is Ms. Gates first Sheikh story, and there are several more soon to be released, and I’m hungry for them already!

Thank you!
Katherine, what an incredible review! And 5 stars!!!!!! This is my first flawless five one from you, no?
And yes, Malek and Jay do have a very special place in my heart, too, and I'm so happy they had the same effect on you. It's such a privilege for me as an author to think I can touch and move a reader this way with my writing, with my characters and the passion they have for life and each other.
I hope you enjoy my next Sheikh books as much!

You are very welcome, Olivia .......
No, this isn't your first five star from me!
My all time fav of your's remains Doctor on the Frontline .... perhaps, simply because it was your first book, and my introduction to your voice ... in my mind I can still vividly imagine certain scenes ..... as I can with The Doctor's Latin Lover .... both of those earned 5 stars from me!
I must say again, I adore Sheikh Malek .... do Malek and Jay have cameos in any of your upcoming books? .... I would love to see how they are doing!

Cameos
Oh, I didn't realize Doctors on the Frontline and The Doctor's Latin Lover also raked in 5 stars from you! So great to think you can still see scenes from them in your head so vividly after such a long time of reading them!
And so happy you adored Malek. Jay agrees with you implictly.
As for cameos, regretfully not really. In DESERT PRINCE, EXPECTANT MOTHER that comes out in Arpil in the UK (no idea still if it will see US publication) there's only one line referring to Malek, on Faress's lips. (My coming Sheikh)
The good news is in my Desire series, you'll get to see the brothers in each other's books, plus get a glimpse into their lives with their princesses later one. The third one in the series especially has a lot of presence from the others in the first two books. I'm finding visiting old characters this way exhilarating!

I am !!
I'm going to have to "chat" with your Editor ... walk on cameos can be lovely for fans ... just a glimpse, a mention of the couple, or the hero ....... I'm glad at least Malek gets an "My coming Sheikh"
I'm very much looking forward to your Desire Trilogy .... and have no fear, if your Sheikhs for Desire are anything like Malek, those books will be a huge success .... you give your characters such a richness, a depth ... they become "real" people that are easy to fall in love with ....
Happy Birthday! ..... we share February ... mine is coming up on the 19th

I hadn't realized that YOU
I hadn't realized that YOU didn't know you were Member of the Month! It's doubly nice then that I was the one who alerted you.
As for My coming Sheikh, that's Faress, not Malek. <g> I bungled up that sentence. Faress means Knight in Arabic and I hope you enjoy him as you did Malek. I certainly did.
Fingers crossed readers enjoy THRONE OF JUDAR as much as I did (and still am) enjoyed writing it. The sheikh brothers are each different from Malek, but I can't say which one is my favorite. Impossible to choose between such perfect specimens of manhood.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, fellwo Aquarian—right?
So what do you do now you're Member of the Month?

Darn You All
Now I have to add some more books to my need to buy list. And here I sit in the middle of New Mexico and can't even do anything about buying The Sheikh Surgeon’s Proposal for some time yet. Since I have not read Olivias Gates before though, I went and found The Surgeon's Runaway Bride to at least have something of hers to read until I can get The Sheikh Surgeon's Proposal. What can I say...I am weak...I need more books.....
Bonsal
Incredible Sheikhs .....
ahhh, yes .... perfect specimens of manhood .... you do have the most droolisheous heroes! .... they're perfect from the inside all the way out
my birth falls on the cusp of Aquarius and Pieces .... so I enjoy the best of both!
.... I'm not sure what a "Member of the Month" does .... shall I put on my evening gown and paint my face? ... do I need a fancy speech?
.... Can I say "thank you everyone I've ever met" like Julia Roberts? ... I'm just so tickled that some one likes me enough to nominate me!
Bonsal, you'll love The Surgeon's Runaway Bride, I read it when it first came out and read it in one sitting .... Paisley recently wrote a review about it too .... The Sheikh Surgeon's Proposal isn't out in NA until April, but we get another treat .... the May Sil. Desires are available here on eHarl in April, so that's two Sheikh's by Olivia in one month!
..... from your reviews, I'd say you'll enjoy these books very much ....... and from one bookaholic to another, we can always use more books! LOL

I am so
jealous Katherine T! I will have to wait for this book and you made it sound so scrumptious too. Maybe the wait will make it that much better for me. Congratulations on being the whatever for the month, whatever that entails. It must be all those helpful suggestions you've given everyone.

How DO you get that frame with an excerpt of a post in your comment?
SEE, this is how you got elected Member of the Month. You've been guiding us all in how to navigate and make use of the all the potential of the new boards. So yes, stand up and take a very deep bow! We're all applauding here!
And you said: you do have the most droolisheous heroes! .... they're perfect from the inside all the way out
Ooh, thanks! I'll let them know you said that and count on that internal perfection to stop it from going to their head.
What a nice place to be, the cusp of Aquarius and Pisces. Having the best of two worlds is always better than that of only one!
