This title makes up the second half of Macomber’s The Manning Sisters two-for-one reissue. In the first story, the heroine is pregnant at the end. This one picks up with the heroine’s sister Christy, who comes to Cougar Point to help her sister with the new baby. When Taylor goes into labor earlier than expected, Christy calls on the local sheriff and family friend to help them get to the hospital on time.
Christy finds herself majorly attracted to the fine sheriff, which wouldn’t have been a problem except for the fact that Christy was newly engaged… Of course her fiancé is the perfect son-in-law-to-be in her parent’s eyes, but the more time passes, the more Christy realizes it’s the sheriff who has her heart, not her fiancé.
To me, this story had so much more depth than the first. I loved reading Christy’s struggles with the attraction and how so many bizarre circumstances came together to block her from following her heart. It’s a good, captivating love triangle story with great general appeal.
Take care,
