I am sick of winter. Every morning I wake up to snow and cold. The oldtimers say this is normal winter.
I'm ready for an abnormal one then. Four years ago we moved farther north (almost to the Canadian border.) I came up to look at the old two-story stone house the lst day of March. There was no snow, I was wearing Birkenstock sandals and I even had to put the car window down because it was so hot.
I could not understand why everyone kept saying, "You're moving there? It is soooo cold up there." Yeah right.
Well, this year it has definitely been cold. The temperature hasn't been above freezing since Dec. 1. We have lots of snow, roads are snowpacked and icy and there is always another storm on the horizon.
What is going on? What happened to our January thaw?
My husband, always the optimist, says we'll have it in February. Sure. Today it got up to 17 degrees. A real heat wave.
How about the rest of you? Have you had an unusual winter? Are you over it?
I sure I am. I say Come on Spring! I want to feel the warmth. A sunburn sounds good. A hot breeze.
In the meantime, I guess I will just stay in front of the fireplace and dream about warm weather. I can't even get a warm break with my books -- the ones I'm writing right now are set for December. It is so hard to think snow when I'm thinking spring.

This winter needs to be over
We've had snow...flooding and sub-zero temps. I'm done with it. Bring on the heat!!! I want some unseasonably warm days. NOW!!!

I'm with you...
I am so ready for spring right now it isn't even funny. Thought January was over and we would get some decent weather. Nope, it's snowing here in Minnesota again. So sick of it. Plus now there is ice underneath that snow in my parking lot. Just makes me want to put on ice skates before I go out to my car tomorrow morning. I want to fast foward to spring. I hope that groundhog doesn't see its shadow tomorrow... Might have to hurt the little thing...

Snow
I am with you on this, I am sick of winter! I shoveled snow yesterday myself trying to get to my car. I am sick of it. I am soooo ready for spring.
Cold
It was 13 degrees a couple of days ago, but we're going to be in the 30's all week. I'm ready for spring.
I So Agree!
I'm in southern Ontario and we're freezing our patooties off right now. We haven't had much snow this winter, so I can't complain about that, but oh, it's been in the minus 20 Celcius range, and lower, with or without windchill. Last Monday we had +8C and pouring rain, then we plunged back down into sub-zero temps.
I am SO ready for Spring, but realistically, we have another couple of months to go, unless we get very lucky and have a warm March.
Boy, am I ever sick and tired of wearing long johns every day!

I live in Tennessee
aka 'the south', yet we've just had our 2nd 'big' snow of the season. We didn't have ANY big snows the past couple of years! Winter is the only season I dispise. Spring through fall, I love it all! Winter, well, I've wished since I starting working that I could find a job where I worked here the warmest 6 months, then I would move to Australia for the warmest 6 months.... No heavy coats, no sweaters, no turtlenecks. Only T-shirts, capris and flipflops/sandals. Heaven!
Instead, I looked out the window when I got up and there's still snow on the ground. The roads look lots better, but there's still snow.... *sigh*

Down here in Alabama, we've
Down here in Alabama, we've had an unusually cold winter. We had a stretch of weather in January where the temperature didn't go above 40 degrees, and several days where the temperature barely reached freezing. That may sound warm to you up in Montana, BJ, but down here, that's extremely unusual. I don't own enough warm clothes for that--I have some sweaters and long-sleeved shirts, but I don't have enough for a whole week's worth of frigid weather, and I was really struggling over that cold snap to find clothes to wear that would keep me warm in my office, which is in an old house whose heating/cooling system can't quite handle extremes of hot or cold.
I'm ready for spring. And I NEVER say that.

Winter be gone
Yes, I'm pretty sick of winter too. I don't know how warm it got today, but this morning I believe it was 18. We have quite a bit of snow left from the weekend storm. I'm hoping the roads clear off because I have a doctor's appointment Wednesday and I'd just as soon not have to slide all over the road to get to it. I've only been out of my apartment twice since Christmas. Getting around in ice and snow with a walker is NOT fun. So I've been holed up with my books and tv. My daughter's pick up groceries for me so I don't have to get out when it's cold and bad. I can't wait for warmer weather.

I am so ready for the snow to be gone. Its been below zero here and snowing, and the sun is teasing us. We have even had some flooding around us. IT STINKS! Bring me warmth

I'm just north of you
in Alberta and I'm sick of the winter. We have trails cut in the snowbanks in our back yard for the cats to run around in. Our one cat hasn't been outside all winter as it's just too cold for her old bones. Bring on Spring. I'm tired of freezing.

I am ready for Spring also.
I have sweaters to wear during the winter but it has been cold since Christmas here in Texas except for one week and that is highly unusual. We are getting a lot of rain also, but thankfully it is not freezing just cold and damp.

Winter
be gone! I agree with everyone - I'm ready for the snow, ice and cold weather to be out of here. I know I'm dreaming, but the sun actually came out today after yesterday's snow. I understand we're getting more of the white stuff on Friday. Not fun for walking on the ice-covered parking lots! I'd better get my YakTrax on!

Snow, big white fluffy flakes
of snow. They were so beautiful as they floated softly, quietly to the ground. Their beauty lasted such a short time...at least until they started fallingthicker and thicker. Then the wind started whipping them into huge drifts, blinding all who ventured out. Morning came, a dull grey dingy light with the wind whipping the drifts higher and higher. Okay those first falkes were a work of beauty but I am tired of the drifts that have stayed and stayed. For me snow days off from school mean time at home but no pay. Yep I am ready for spring.

Hi ya'll
My computer was messing up and I couldn't get on here, but I can't tell you how glad I'm not the only one needing a little spring weather -- and soon.
It is 9 here right now. Everything is white. There are icicles hanging off everything. It has just been like this for too long. I noticed they had slush in Great Falls. I would love some slush. That would mean things are at least starting to melt.
Thank you all for stopping by and sharing. I'm hoping all our voices will bring on spring!!!!!! At least we know we aren't alone.
Stay warm. I'll be thinking of you all,
BJ

Are any of y'all in the path of the blizzard heading for the east coast? My friend and critique partner Jenn lives in southern New Jersey, and she's battening down the hatches. I long for snow, being down here in Alabama where we rarely see the cold white stuff, but even I don't want a blizzard. Been there, done that (in 1993) and that was enough for a lifetime.

Here in KY
we're expected to get a goodly amount of snow tonight, but the worst of the blizzard will hit north of us, according to the predictions. I guess we'll see!
