Silent Memories (2006) by Pat White (HI #944)

We open with Mary in a long term care hospital being visited by her husband Sean MacNeil. Mary is finally semi-coherent after being in a coma and she has a bad feeling that Sean is not her husband and is trying to kill her. After Sean leaves, that night someone does try to kill her. As she makes a break for it she discovers Sean also trying to get her out of the hospital and the man trying to kill her, who she thought was Sean, is someone else. While not trusting Sean much at all she takes the opportunity he presents and they get away from the hospital. While they are fleeing and fighting initially Mary finds out her name is really Annie. Sean claims he is an FBI agent amd is only trying to protect her. There is some kind of history with Sean. She does not remember much of anything yet but flashes are starting to happen now and then. During their flight and Sean's trying to keep her safe Annie, who was formerly very trusting and timid, ends up saving Sean's life a few times as well. Along with all the action not only does Annie piece together the memories of her life but Sean's life is revealed slowly. This reveals not only his motivations for who he is but also why he feels he is incapable of loving, especially someone as sweet as Annie. In the end they both end up getting saved, both physically and emotionally.

This was a very good, exciting, book. There didn't seem to be any filler as everything seemed to be story driven, and like I said very full of action. It is well worth your time to read this one.  Smile
