I confess, I read this book months ago, taking advantage of my position as a Harlequin employee to snag (borrow, liberate) an ARC from our PR department. I read SILENT IN THE GRAVE last year and loved it, so when I spied this sequel lying on a table, I had to have it!
I found this book to be even better than its predecessor. The author has surpassed herself in recreating the atmosphere and dialogue of the Victorian era; the characters are so compelling, and the pacing is so snappy, I was halfway through the novel before I realized that no-one had yet been murdered! The murder mystery plot is engaging and kept me guessing right up until the reveal. This is my original booklight book, the one for which I BOUGHT my booklight because I couldn't bring myself to put it down for one minute!
I miss the heroine, Lady Julia Grey, already and I can't WAIT for the next one! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historicals, mysteries, or just plain good reads!
