Snowfall At Willow Lake

I was really excited to pick up the newest Susan Wiggs title and the timing couldn't have been better. It definitely was not a far stretch of the imagination to immerse myself in a mid-winter snowstorm after all the snow that we've had in the past couple of weeks. *g*

Everything that you usually love about Suan Wiggs is in this new book -- complex characters, women facing real emotional conflicts in today's world and, of course, a hunky but sensitive male protagonist.

My favourite part of the book is when Susan steps a bit away from her usual depiction of small towns and instead immerses her heroine, Sophie Bellamy, into a glamorous world at The Hague in Holland. The descriptions in this section really blew me away and I felt as if I could slip on a formal gown, walk out the door and join Sophie there.

Sprinkled throughout the book are some great recipes that relate to the editorial. I just skimmed them on my first reading, but plan on returning and trying some of them out.

This book will be appearing at #2 on the New York Times bestseller list this week and it's not hard to see why! It's warm, funny and real. And while the characters struggle with their problems, they always learn that there are people who care about them who, even if they can't solve their problems, can be there to lean on while they work through them.

Highly recommended!
