Some Like It Lethal by Nancy Martin
Blurb: When Rush Strawcutter, the husband of a wealthy dog food heiress, is found bludgeoned to death in a horse stall at an exclusive hunt club, Nora Blackbird is as surprised as anyone.
Her surprise turns to shock when her sister Emma is discovered nearby, unconscious and badly bruised. Worse still, the evidence points twoard a devious blackmail scheme-with Emma as the main suspect. INvestigating with the help of friend and foe alike, Nora inadvertently uncovers the scandalous secrets of some of Philadelphia's high and mightiest...and attracts the unwanted attention of the real killer.
Who did it was surprising for me, although looking back I can see that Martin did drop a few hints on who it was. I was just enjoying the story too much to pick up on them. Nora and Michael's relationship hits a few bumps making it go one step forward and two steps back. Libby was absolutely hilarious this time around. I look forward to seeing how Nora's decision at the end of the book affects the series, and how Emma comes to terms with everything that happened.
Now for the challenge Michael is the hero of this novel although Detective Ben Bloom has a decent role this time around. Of the two Michael fits better with Nora than Bloom. He seems to honestly care for her, whereas Bloom's attraction feels more staged. Neither of them are my kind of guy but they do work well with the story.
