Oh, my gosh...spring sprang in Erie. Well, only for the day, but it’s Erie...we’ll take it. I just had the dogs out for their second walk of the day. The great mounds of snow are melting–you can hear the water running down the streets and spilling into the sewers. You can hear it dripping from roofs, as the ice melts. You can even hear it as thirteen-pound Ella, who’s never met a puddle she doesn’t like, bunny-hops smack in the center. Which explains why she’s come home looking more like a drowned white rat than a labradoodle.
People in Erie really make the best of these prelude to spring days. We saw a dad pushing a baby in her stroller, three joggers and an older couple holding hands as they walked along, dodging puddles and enjoying the warmth.
I got home and slid the storm window down on the door and rolled the screen in place. My house smells like wet earth, wet dogs and temperatures above freezing. Okay, so maybe you didn’t realize that temperatures-above-freezing had a smell, but it does. Of course, it smells remarkably like wet dog and wet earth, but there’s a little something extra mixed in that say, winter will end eventually. And oh, I need to hear that, because tomorrow winter reasserts itself. But today is a reminder that soon, winter will retreat for a few months and my lilacs and forsythia will bloom. My dh will put in the garden. There will be walks at the peninsula, and grilling in the backyard....yes, it’s all around the corner.
So, when spring has sprung wherever you life, what are you looking forward to the most?? For me, it's a sunset on the peninsula!!

Hey Holly. My forsythia is already in bloom. I think it's jet lagged or something. It usually blooms at the end of March.

Spring Sprung Here too
It was 75 degrees in Charlotte, NC today and with Daylight Savings time starting this Sunday, Spring will come early this year!
Tammy
PS I bought your House on Briar Road book to read this month (or I can read Hung up) since you are a new author for me for the March Challenge.

What's your weather like there this time of year?
Well, I'd have to say it yo-yos here too. And it changes from year to year. Last year, for instance, we hardly had any hard frosts never mind freezing temps. This year, it was colder more frequently but never more than 1 week at a time. I am afraid that the flowering trees will get their flowers killed by a last frost.
Do you have Dogwood? I'd love to get a dogwood, but they are not very common here. The last time I tried ordering and planting a non-native tree (a MacIntosh apple tree), it died on me.

Spring sprang...and now it's sprung.
Tammy, 75...I remember that temp. It seems like a long, long time ago! LOL I woke up to snow covering the drive again. Our taste of spring is over...for a few days anyway! And thanks so much for picking up The House on Briar Hill Road. I so hope you enjoy it.
Frenchie, I hope you don't have a frost killing the flowers on your trees. And yes, I just got a dogwood last year for mother's day. This year I want a hydrangea. I love looking at plants in the yard and tracking the holidays through them. Sorry the tree didn't take!
