I've noticed as I've visited other people's blogs that there are a variety of different pictures to identify each other. Some people have avatars, some people have pictures of themselves, some people have pictures of their kids, and some people have other things to represent themselves.
This got me to wondering why other people chose the pictures that they did.
I'll start. My picture is of me as a baby. I look pretty much the same, I act pretty much the same. In the picture, I've just made a mess. Pretty much if you meet me today, I've probably just made a mess. Therefore, I thought it was suitable.
So what's your story???

re: the story of your picture
Hehe, I love your explanation! My Facebook picture is a photo of me as a kid...making a horrible face. Right now I`m just using a yahoo drawing-style avatar here...just as a placeholder, I think, until I come up with something better. It looks vaguely like me...same hair, anyway.
Looking forward to hearing everyone`s stories--great topic!
the story of the picture
Me too! I have an avatar, but she looks nothing like me so I don't really use her that much.

Great topic idea
I wonder often about the different pictures. shewolf has the beautiful eagle in her's and there are so many kids and animals. I curently have my two middle "children". Jackson is on the left and is 5 and Parker on the right is 8.

A friend made this avatar for me .......
a few years ago, and I finally started to use it about a year ago ..... it's a strawberry blond farm girl wearing her work apron and her longish hair pulled up in a ponytail ..... she actually looks abit like me
.... I'm definitely a farm girl and I always have my hair pulled back when I'm working in the gardens ..

my picture is from an arts
my picture is from an arts and crafts festival last fall. they had one of those associations there that rehabilitate birds of prey. you could get your photo taken with the eagle and the money went towards the program. so of course I had to do it. and yes, she is a real bird! LOL her beak was literally three inches from my nose. kinda scary to think about being THAT close to an eagle's wicked sharp beak. if you look REALLY close though at my profile page where the photo is biger, I think you can see the fist of the handler. that's what she was sitting on.

He's posing so perfectly. I would have never known that he was real. He's really a perfect picture-taking bird.
I'm also a farm girl from the old days (I lived in the Woods for most of my life), but definitely not a strawberry blonde.

No pictures of me.. :)
I have a thing about posting pictures of myself. Besides the point I hate my picture being taken, I'm a very private person. I do have an avatar I use when chatting on YIM. I'm using a picture of Melbourne.

Melbourne looks like a lovely city. Maybe one day, I will make it to Australia for a visit. Its one of those places that I would love to spend time in.

My eyes..
The idea I had in mind was that of the eyes being the window to the soul and 'your story'. What I ended up with was kind of a bunch of 'blair witchish' pics and this was the best so far, lol. I didn't want 'cardboard gal' on here anymore so I changed to this, but I am fickle..l may change it again...

I couldn't decide what to do - so I went with graphics. There's a cool (pardon the pun!) website called Cool Text and you can play around there to your hearts delight. This one is called Nova.
I thought about a pic of my cats but I can't find one that shows them off to purrrrfection. I'll keep trying though!

My Picture is one of my cats Bubbles. She is trying to figure out what is going on with our latest cat Seven. Shes rather fat and I loved this perticular picture. She also does this pose when shes trying to clean her belly. I think she looks like a groundhog lol. It just happens to be one of my favorite pictures.

I fly to Calgary to pick up
I fly to Calgary to pick up my new puppy Feb 3rd and fly back with her Feb 4th.
The 3 pups you see(all females & 8 weeks old in the pic) are all from the same litter, and of the two on the right.., one weighs 2 pounds & the other is 2 pounds, 1 ounce...and one of the two puppies on the right will be mine.
I'm excited, can you tell.
The breeder of course gets pick of the litter(1st best pup), and i get the 2nd best pup...but both of these pups are so close to being identical(show quality wise), that the breeder is having a really hard time picking which one she wants.
She's wishing she hadn't been so hasty in telling me to book my flight, before she'd had them all structurally tested...as now she'd like to grow them up a little more to see which way the two are going to go.
Kathy D
I chose mine because
When eHarlequin changed the site to have picture, I did not like being a shadow, so I made myself learn how to post a picture. I wanted a cute one of a women/girl with dark hair and, hopefully, with glasses. I couldn't find one. All I found was a book worm, cute but no thanks. I then found the lady in profile reading. I liked her so I chose her.
When this new site came up. I put her in my profile but she was all fuzzy/bleary. She looked okay in my posts because she was little but I did not like seeing her everytime I went into my profile so I had to find another.
I wanted a woman or fairy reading but could not find one then I saw this book with the castle coming out of it. It was on one of my card making CD's so I decided to learn how to save it to my computer. I know that is childs play for most of you but I felt very proud of the fact that I did it. :)
To me, this represents all these romantic love stories that I love to read. When I was a little girl, I loved fairytales about princesses. So, this avatar seemed to fit.
I may still change it for a fairy who reads if I come across one but, for now, I love my new avatar.
Margie :)
My picture
is of my Shadow, my baby. She's much more photogenic than I, so I use her picture. That and the fact that I don't like the idea of having my picture floating around the internet.

Kitties, puppies, and other assorted goodness
Animals tend to be more photogenic than most of us with a few exceptions. My parents' cat (which they stole from me), Zoe, looks terrified when the camera comes out so her pictures always come out with a cat that just looks frightened out of her wits.
What kind of puppy?? They look very cute.
I like the graphics of the book and the castle too. I also think of fairytales when I see it. I also think the letters are neat too. I may have to investigate for my own cool graphic. Hmmm...

right now I have a picture of a saloon because it was the only one that was accepted because of size
I have another that was just sent to me but I need to download it and this week I'm at my sisters and using the dbil's computer so don't want to do any downloading on it so until at least Monday I'll be a saloon.

LOL at Christa's reason b/c that's pretty much mine, too
My mountains from before were too small, so I googled "public domain photos" or something like that and saved a bunch to my computer but the mountains that I wanted were "too small" just like my old ones. The rose was a good size. I know we can re-size but for now I want to spend time on the site, not figuring out which pic or avatar I should/could be using. Roses don't really fit me but I liked it so there you go!

Mine is the only picture of me I could get small enough. Though it's a little fuzzy and I may change it. i couldn't find my avatar that I had on the old site. Guess I didn't have it saved on this computer. And I have a hard time getting others pics small enough to use here. I like seeing everyone's different pictures, whether it shows them or their personality. lol
Well, you all are a step
Well, you all are a step above me. I don't have a picture at all. The photos I use to have on my hard drive are gone as we got a new computer and since I had print copies, I didn't keep them and I don't know how to download anything else. I keep saying I will bring my camera over to the computer, but never remember until I am sitting her and then I always decide to wait until later.

LOL yeah so NOT doing the yellow rose of texas
Here for 13+ years and I STILL never think to make iced tea before people come over. And sweet tea? FORGET IT! I have NO idea how they make sweet tea. These two bits of info tell you that I am NOT a southerner of any kind.
But you have reminded me, Cady, that on our first Xmas together, dh made me an ornament with little (miniature) yellow (dried) roses inside (one of those clear plastic ball ones that you can fill yourself) and on the inside of the box wrote that I was his Yellow Rose of TX. So maybe I SHOULD keep it.
Huh! My picture fits me! Who knew!?! Wow! Thanks, Vikki, for starting this conversation! My picture fits! huh!

Vicki, The pups are
Vicki, The pups are Yorkshire Terriors. They look like tiny Rotweillers when their puppies, and then slowly change to look like Yorkies as they get older. This is a toy breed and is not to exceed 7 lbs. full grown...we're thinking these two girls will be at most 6 pounds.
But the breeder has a girl she's growing up now, from the some mom...and was the same aprox. size that these pups are when she was that age...and she is now 9 months old and only weighs 4 lbs. 1 ounce.
She's having them weighed and re-assessed again this sunday...and she said maybe one more time before i pick her up. We should have a better idea on size then.
At 8 weeks you triple their weight, to find out how big they'll be full grown...and at 10 weeks you double their weight and add a pound. The pups are 10 weeks this sunday.
More info than you wanted, i know, but my fingers wouldn't quit typing. lol

minature doggies
I can deal with the minature versions much better than the full sized versions. My neighbor had a Rottweiler that used to scare the bejesus out of me. I don't particularly like big dogs and this dog would growl at me through the fence.

I went out, like many authors do, and paid for studio pictures. I hated them.
So, one day I was messing around with learning the settings on my new digital camera, and took a bunch of stupid pictures of myself, some making faces, some upside down, etc and decided they came out better than the studio pics, so this is one of those. :)

Graduation Picture
I've chosen this picture as an encouragement to myself and others that all things are possible if you keep determined. Eight years after I graduated high school I went back to school and completed a Legal Secretary program. With hard work, I walked away with an award for being the fastest typist the school had seen since they opened and with the highest marks my program.
I use this picture as a reminder that all things are possible if you believe. I went into that program with the mind set of doing the best that I possibly could and not giving up. This is also what I want to do with my writing.
I'm determined not to give up and use that picture as a daily reminder to give my dreams all I have.
There is a quote that I carry with me everywhere
""Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you."
Guess I better wrap up my post, I have a habit of being long-winded at times;)
