Becky's horoscope says" fresh starts & dazzling opportunities" will be hers in the New Year!  Becky can't wait!

Becky is on her way to New York City with high hopes that the reason her editor Pat has insisted she come to NYC on New Year's Eve is due to the fact that her latest book is selling off the charts.  Instead she has her high hopes dashed, her book has tanked.  There will be no new contract, her only option is to co-author a book with Adam Maxwell.  Of all people could there be a worse writing partner, in Becky's mind, than chauvinist Adam Maxwell.  Her opinion is based on a statement he made in an interview plus the fact that he writes action-adventure, she writes, erotic mysteries.  Adam likened romance books to "housewife porn" in his interview.  Becky is not a happy camper, but has to consider saying yes.  This is not the way she pictured her year starting off.  What now, any respectable woman in love with designer labels goes shopping!

After a shopping spree with two new pairs of designer shoes and other purchases to cheer her up Becky is hurrying to catch a cab when she literally runs into a dreamy man on the sidewalk.  She gets knocked down on her butt, bags scattering and dignity sadly missing.  The gentleman she ran into helps her recover the purchases that scattered and tries not to notice how high her skirt has bunched when she fell.  Becky is immediately attracted to the handsome man, she is especially grateful when he finds and recovers one of her missing high priced shoes.  As Becky gets another cab to return to her hotel she is wishing she had asked his name or said "yes" when he asked her to coffee.

Since this is after all New Years Eve, Becky gets all dressed up with no place to go.  She decides to have a drink in the lounge at her hotel while trying to decide what to do with her evening.  When she walks in there is someone playing piano music which is very pleasant.  While chatting with the bartender she learns the person playing is a guest of the hotel not someone hired to entertain. As Becky is sipping her Flirtini the music stops and the next thing she knows a warm hand is on her shoulder with a request asking "Mind if I join you Cinderella?".  It is her Prince Charming from the earlier encounter.  New Years Eve is definitely looking up.

Becky and Max spent several hours over cocktails and appetizers while enjoying each others company.  There seems to be a powerful chemistry between them that neither can ignore.  They end the evening with the mutual agreement of a one night stand that leads them both to a night never-to-be-forgotten.

Since neither Becky or Max are using "real" names they do not discover until much later New Year's Day that they are to be co-authors of their next book!  Surprised, no!  I have not said it nearly as well as the author, Hope Tarr, did in the story but I'm trying to condense a sexy, well-written book into a few paragraphs!! Laughing  This was a story of two people totally opposed to co-authoring a book but learned that working together instead of solo has its perks.
