Hi Jayne,
First, I can't believe I'll get to meet you!!! Yahoo!!
Second, it's tiaras on. Although bells would be fun. Okay, bells on.
Third, just come. We'll worry about figuring out who you are later.
Yay, Jayne's coming to our party!

Hi
I don't have a tiara, but I'd love to come. Is there anything that I need to do?
Kathleen

Just show up!
Hi Kathleen,
Nothing to do except come and help us have a good time! We're handing out tiaras if you want one.
They're just a joke, though, so don't feel peer pressure.
I'm running a Superromance Trivia game so you may want to study up if you want to win a prize. Maybe I should post a sample question here. Hmmm.

Trivia Sample
Okay, here's a sample question from the game. I know these are very hard, we'll just have to hope we have some true Super trivia buffs in attendance.
In the early days of Superromance, an author with the last name “Hudson” wrote books titled A Charm for Adonis and Return to Rapture. This Hudson’s full name is:
a. Kate Hudson.
b. Henry Hudson.
c. Meg Hudson.
To get the full flavor of the game, there should be a prize, right? I'll send a copy of either His Secret Past or Wanted Man to the first person who posts the correct answer here. (No, you don't have to be going to San Fran to play here. This is totally in fun! Everyone welcome.)
Good luck with the tough, tough question,

Yay, Ellen!
Do you want one of my books? I kind of doubt it since you already read them both, right?
Any interest in my friend Diana Holquist's September release, Hungry For More? It's here on Amazon. I can even get it signed for you.

New Question
I have another question in case anyone is interested in Round 2 of Super Trivia.
One Superromance author is also a veterinarian. That author is:
a. Margaret Watson.
b. Tom Watson.
c. James Herriot.
Guess away! Same prize as last time. All guessers welcome. (I'm sorry the questions are so hard. I feel it's important to overcome obstacles on the road to trivia triumph.

One more thing...
Harlequin has graciously donated 10 bags for the prize bags, along with CDs and pens. The bags will be filled with author donations of books etc, as well. If anyone is hesitating on whether or not to come, the prizes alone will worth it (not to mention you get to hang out with the Superromance authors
. We're a fun, easy-going and casual group. We don't bite--much. <G>)
I also just ordered T-shirts that say I (heart) Nick Tulane in honor of my current release. Quanities are limited so it's first ask, first get, but if I see you wearing the T-shirts (they'd be great for the PJ party, the Superromance Readers' Party and loungin'/touring SF), you'll get an extra prize!

How do I get a T-shirt and a tiara
Seriouly I don't qualify for a T-shirt as I haven't read the book yet but it should be arriving any day. Those darn snippets caused me to order both the books. I am looking forward to reading them. It says something for the quality of your writing when you can sell 2 books with a couple of paragraphs. I hope you all have a geat time in SF and come away inspired and ready to rock and write.

I always have that problem with series books---Do I read them as they come out or wait for all of them before reading??? In the case of the Tulanes I think you can read them as you get them and be ok with the stories.

Parties
Hi again,
I was working on the great puupy search and missed all of the trivia questions. Hopefully more will be forthcoming even though His Secret Past is sitting right beside my computer. It will be my reward for typing in the last forty pages of changes that I'm supposed to be doing now.
This will be my first conference and I'm really excited and scared. I truly don't want to look like an idiot so you may have to help me here. When you say casual party do you mean jeans or capris or something dressier. I know we're supposed to dress nice for the conference, but what about parties? And what is the pajama party? Can anyone come and do we actually wear pajamas? How do I find out about the parties? (I'm not much of a party animal but I'm willing to learn.)
Thanks a ton.
Kathleen

Party People
Hi Kathleen,
The Super party is come-as-you're-comfortable. Many of the authors will be coming from the literacy signing so I'd expect them to be dressed nicely. I'm wearing pants and a cardigan.
I don't know enough about other parties to give advice about them but I doubt anyone will get kicked out of any of them for a dress code violation.
I've never been to the PJ party and I don't know how to find out more. Hmm. Jayne? Are you still reading? I know, I'll go ask Holly Jacobs to drop by tomorrow. She's planning to go to the PJ party so maybe she can enlighten us.
I hope you'll like His Secret Past! I'm having a garage sale tomorrow so I'm dusty and tired tonight, but I may have a chance to post more trivia later in the day.
From what I've seen the RWA conference is filled with the hands-down nicest people in the world. Don't worry about anything, just go prepared to enjoy yourself!
Can't wait to meet you,
Ellen

I went to the PJ Party last year
and yes, people wear their pajamas. Ones that can be worn in public, anyway LOL. It was great fun, it was open to all community members, so there were Harlequin employees and authors and just a couple of us readers there. It was a great party! Small enough that I think I got a chance to talk to pretty much everyone.

I was reading instead of getting my work done. LOL Hazard of the job, I guess. Anyway, thanks again and do let me know what you think of them when you've finished reading them. BTW, there will be five stories total (just thought I'd throw that in there <G>) The last three are out in March, July and November of 2009.

Whoops! Forgot to comment on this. I missed the PJ party last year because I didn't know where it was and I was sooo disappointed! They're always so much fun. But there is so much going on Thursday evening, too. *sigh* That now makes me trying to be in four places at once

Kay about those bags under your eyes.
When you get to be my age you stop worrying about bags under your eyes. If you are at a convention I think you should try to pack in as much as you can. There is a country song out right now called "I Can Sleep When I'm Dead". Let it be your anthem for the few days you are in SF.
Thanks for telling me there will be five books in the series. Again with the age thing but I do like to read all of a series at once but I really will read one or both of your books when I get them.
I was away for a day and a half and now there are 11 new comments on Snippetathon. I am almost afraid to read them.

Ellen, who knew you were such a party animal? My tiara is already packed along with a bag of pistachio snack crackers, which are absolutely to die for

I love your trivia. The last question is going to stump many readers because most people hear "taxi" and think New York or some city, not South Dakota. Which just happens to be the setting for my "Spotlight on Sentinel Pass" series. Interesting coincidence, don't you think? In fact, I'll be so impressed if anyone gets it right, I'll donate a copy of BABY BY CONTRACT to the first correct guesser.

On that note, here's the question:
Kay has a new Superromance series about the Tulanes of Tennessee. In keeping with the double-letters in the name of their home state, the Tulanes have twins in the family. Name those twins.
Hint: They are not named Mary-Kate and Ashley.

But even though I just got Kay's two Tulanes books in the mail today I'm not going to try to answer the question. This is such fun. I wish I could meet all of you . I am going to meet Donna Alward (HR) this fall I hope. I just found out about all the forum topics and I am so hyped.
Debra, I really love your books but I am not greedy, just send Kathleen a book. Thanks. I had a great time trying to imagine a five year old dispatcher but then I thought of the small town I grew up in and it worked for me. It gave me a few chuckles which is what I really needed.

Sleep at conference!
Kay, I always try to make sure I get enough sleep at conference. Sometimes I sneak off to my room in the middle of the afternoon for a quick nap.
Exhaustion does terrible things to my temperment. If Ellen had this question:
Which Superromance author gets really cranky when she's tired?
The answer would be ME! <G>
Also, not enough sleep can leave me more open to migraines, and Kay, I know you know what that's like. So I do everything I can to avoid getting a migraine while at conference.
I am REALLY looking forward to meeting some new folks at the reader party. If this is your first National conference, I have two tips:
1 - Comfortable shoes! You'll be doing a LOT of walking just in the hotel.
2 - Relax!!! Romance writers are very friendly people! And published authors do NOT bite! We'd love to talk to you. The only time NOT to approach is when an author is talking to an editor or agent. Otherwise, don't be afraid to say hello. A good ice breaker is always, "Hi, I'm SoandSo, and I write WHATEVER. What do you write?"
My very first conference, I found myself at a table at some function or other (lunch? cocktail reception?) with our very own Roz Denny Fox and Ken Casper. They actually TALKED to me!! Like I was a real person and everything! And now, I'm "one of them." <G>
Seriously, the ungracious person is the exception at the conference. Except for maybe when they're giving away free books. Then...watch out! You could get trambled. (And I am SOOOO not kidding about that!)
I can't wait for the conference and our party! Thanks to Ellen and Kay and all the others who are doing the majority of the work on this.
(I'm available to help on-site, and will contact you ladies privately to offer said help and connection data. <G>)

The party is hopping in here!
I have more hints on the Tulane Twins question. (If you aren't addicted to the Disney channel or living with a DC addict, the first two hints may be useless.)
Hmm. Is Kay a closet General Hospital fan?
Guesses? Anyone?

P.S. I sleep very well at the conference because I'm in a bed with only one other grown-up and no one talks to me in the night about water or the bathroom or zombies.
