SYNOPSIS: Louise Andrew is still adjusting to life as a single mom. On her first day at a new hospital in her role as a nurse, she spies a name she thought was behind her... Danny Ashwood. Surely it's not the same Danny! How will Danny handle the news that Louise has a baby now, a baby that he fathered?
MY THOUGHTS: This was a nice read, emotional but not so overwhelming with emotions that it left me drained. Carol Marinelli did a good job at showing both sides of the relationship as both Louise and Danny have suffered a lot of heartache. I actually kept skipping over this one even though I wanted to read it as I was worried, particularly after the Wylie book, that the confrontations would be too harsh. However, the arguments between the two didn't seem as abrasive to me as I'd expected. In fact, I enjoyed the storyline overall.
I did find it odd that Danny, as a consultant doctor, was referred to as Mr rather than Dr. It certainly didn't detract from the story by any means, but it did catch my attention as the first time I thought it was a typo but apparently it's just a difference similar to how certain words are spelled slightly differently.
NEW TO ME: Yep, this is definitely another new to me author. I picked up a bunch of older Medicals but I think this one was bumped up the pile by another blogger's review. Katherine T's maybe? Anyway, I enjoyed Carol Marinelli's writing style and it was a nice change from some of the books I've been reading lately.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one ....
I have the Trish Wylie book, I'll have to pull it up for next month's reading .....
I don't mind reading confrontations ... just sometimes when they are brutal, I wonder how the words can ever be overcome .... in this book the words were from such deep pain ... and understandably .... it helps knowing that there will be a HEA ...

HEAs
Oh the HEA definitely helped! I'm not sure how I would have reacted to the book if the HEA had been uncertain..... I don't mind certain types of books without HEAs, very obviously since I love urban fantasy, but books like this have to have a HEA or they are way too painful for me to read.

I agree ......
there was just so much pain with these two ... I can deal with the deep painful emotions ... but combined with anger or rage, it's tough to swollow .... knowing at the get go that this is a Harlequin and Harlequin always have a HEA kept me reading .... and I'm glad I did ..... though I would have liked the ending in this one to have been as equally intense as some of the other scenes ... the ending was good but seemed rather tame after all the prior angst

I do not think I have a Medical by this author yet. I really like emotional reads sometimes.

Mr v Dr
I love Carol's medical's. She's a fab writer and a laugh a minute to be around. I think her nursing background really comes through. She also writes for Desire (I think). You'd like her Paisley.
I can put the Mr thing to rest. Here in Australia when you reach the rank of consultant you are called Mr not Dr. Not sure why - just always been that way. I guess its a way of showing you've transcended the lowly Dr state. Don't want to be thrown in with the great unwashed maybe

That is good info, Amy, and the close reading Debiw to bring this issue up. I did not know that and I appreciate knowing it before I encounter it.
Sometimes I have encountered some differences that make me pause, most markedly in this drug which is like Tylenol but goes by a name I had never heard before. Still can't say it but I recognize it after seeing it now. Also, I see A & E a lot. From the context, I assume it is like ER or maybe admittance and something. I'll have to rememver to ask.
