Tags

I'm not sure what to do with the tags, for the moment I've been
using them for me with my ratings and the Dream Team tag so I can find
all the Dream Team posts

Personally I think that the Harlequin imprints more or less speak for themselves

But how about non Harlequin books?

Do you want to know when it's women's fiction, suspense, erotica, paranormal or historical?

Do you want me to tag the Christmas stories, the cops to avoid?

I don't pay an awful lot of attention to other people's tags, although
they can be handy for search purposes, so I need to know whether I'm an
exception or a rule

So far I can honesly say I haven't paid much attention to tags either...but that doesn't mean that at some point in the future I won't.

The Born Readers

Outside of a dog a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read. Groucho Marx

I used "YA" for my non-Harlequin YA

I guess if it's a paranormal, I'd like to know.

You know what? I'd like to know which genre a book is or maybe a series? If I were to pay attention to the tags? Or if I searched the tags (can you do that -- search JUST the tags)?

So if someone's read a mystery or fantasy or sci-fi or paranormal, then you could say, "Hey! I'm in the mood for that, who blogged it? What was it called and who was it by again? I wish I had paid attention!" and then I could search for say, "sci-fi" and up all the sci-fis would pop.

Similar thought process for a series -- "Weather Warden" or whatever.

When you're at Trybble's (sp?) "own" blog at his own review site, his tags do help you find what you want quickly. Maybe it will be that way here.

Who knows?

I only use the Dream Team

I only use the Dream Team tag to bring up blog posts as well as log my own.  I think I'd use a tag based on rating.  I have a sick fettish for bad reviews, always curious to know what went wrong (and hoping I'm not doing any of that in my stories! Embarassed)  But other than that, I doubt I'd use them.

Although, I'm still learning how to move around this place, and reserve the right to change my opinion.

Tags ..........

tags are like bread crumbs .... they help "you" find your content and others to find content similar to their likes

if the book had a main character that suffered from amnesia ....... I would tag - amnesia

if the book had violence, ie war, killing, knife fight, explosions ...... I would tag - violence     -- Vikki's Her Perfect Life would have this tag, though she wrote her scenes very well

if the book had a lot of laugh out loud moments and was on a lighter side ..... I would tag - laughter

I recently read a series by Raye Morgan about a royal family ..... each book was about one of the royal siblings .... so I tagged - royalty, prince (princess depending on the main character)

I'm also tagging books as sweet, yummy, heat wave, very good, great, excellent  depending on where they fit .... and I would use the word erotic or paranormal too if that applied

I plan on reading a few Intrigues that will have some paranormal themes, one that comes to mind the heroine has intuitive powers, so I'll probably use the tag - ESP

I don't know if its proper or not, but I'm also tagging the author's name, as the author's name is not a field of its own  (should be in my opinion)

I intend on reading more Medicals, so I instead of mentioning the type of medical content in my review (I couldn't figure out how to do that without giving the story away) I may use tags  ... ie epilepsy, graphic surgery, amputation, search and rescue, family doctor,  --- you get the idea

Also, I'd put the title of a mini-series in the Tag line ... the Raye Morgan series I just read was Catching the Crown, so I tagged that

tags can be limitless and wonderous things .... I just wish we could have "personal" tags and "public" tags ... that would really make it easy for us to find content within our own blogs that need not be shared ... like I might want to use the tag - Top 10 - to indicate this is worthy and for me to consider it at the end of the year for my Top 10 list

the "search" function of this new site is far superior to the old one ..... so think of all the possible tags you can use to help your own future searches

hope this helps and gives you some ideas!

Hopefully things will improve as the year progresses, otherwise you might as well bury me straight away

I do hope you're recovering from your bronchitis ..... so it's perfectly understandable for you to be feeling exhausted ..... new look, new format, is challenging for all of us and it will take time to get used to the feel of this new home

I'm glad you blogged about Tags ..... this is a great discussion and I'm looking forward to reading how others plan to use them

Sometimes my mind goes blank...

when I get to the Tag area.  I usually put in our team name (Novel Obsession), the authors name and then I try to think of other things like content etc but I just can't think of anything significant.  I guess it will come with practice!  KatherineT - I must try your method, you've got some good tags going on there.

Lorie said the team name will show up on the Tag area once I use it, but I've used it 3 or 4 times now and it's not showing up.  Maybe it needs more than one person to use it so once KathyD uses it in her book reviews it will work.

There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the pleasure is having lots to do and not doing it!

Harumph!

And you know, I like that Dream Team gets big letters in the hot tags section.  I think Sadhbh deserves some notoriety for all that speed reading!
