Taking A Healing Break

We lost our oldest furbaby Saturday morning, and I'm a little down, so I'm taking a few days off to work things through. Be back soon.

So sorry you lost your furbaby

I am assuming furbaby was a cat or dog. Losing a pet is so hard even if there are other pets at home. I have had four cats go over the Rainbow Bridge and I still miss them all. Take care of yourself and the rest of your furbabies.

So sorry to hear your news,Cora

we lost our oldest furbaby on July 25th-she was just shy of 17 so I can relate all too well.  I still miss her alot even though we still have 2 kittens,8 cats and 2 big dogsFrown.   Each furbaby we have hold a very special place in our hearts.Smile                                                                        Sending you hugs((((((((((((((((((((((Cora)))))))))))))))))))))          Cheryl        When you feel better, drop by my blog,I have pix of our 2 kittens there.

My heart goes out to you.

My heart goes out to you. Our furbabies are precious to us and it is hard when we have to say goodbye. My dh and I have rescued both dogs and cats and sometimes they come with such significant health issues that we don't have them for very long. Come back when you can and {{{{hugs}}}} while you are taking a break.

Thanks for the hugs...

Thanks for the hugs, everyone. Really, that means a lot. It has been a rough these last few days.

Our furbaby was indeed a puppy dog, ChanceyBear, 14 years young, and soooo intelligent. We've had him with us since 1994, when my Oldest son was 3 years old.

Anyway, we noticed he couldn't get up Friday afternoon, and when he didn't seem to get any better Saturday morning, we took him to the vet. She sited nerve deterioration in his hind quarters, and he was swelling from things shutting down on him. Poor thing's body was just wearing out from age. It seemed like it happened just overnight. Very heartbreaking to see. We made the tough choice with him to have him put to sleep, and we're all trying to adjust still with him out of the house. It is very empty and quiet here without him around.

It is so hard to make that choice

and it sounds like you never had much time to think about it. That would have really been the hard part for me. I hope you will have many happy memories of ChanceyBear.

My 14-year-old dog has

My 14-year-old dog has really started showing his age this past year. It is so hard when we lose them. At other times when we have had to send an animal over the rainbow bridge I try to remember and talk with my dds about all the wonderful times. I hope you are beginning to be able to remember the sweet times, or the funny, zany and special times you shared with your dog.

So sorry

So sorry for your lost.  (((hug)))

We lost our 15 years old young dog some years ago, very similar to what you've been through.  It took my dh 4 years to finally wanted to have another dog.  Actually I forced his hand, I baby-sit my friend's dog for 2 weeks, dh then realized he really missed having a 'furbaby'.

(((hug))) again

furbabies

It has been a tough loss for us. Hubby and I could hardly bear to look at the condolences card that arrived yesterday from the vet. I didn't even attempt to show it to our Oldest son - I don't think he can deal with that right now. And the little one, well, he hasn't asked where Chancey is yet, but I'm expecting that nightmare soon enough.

We have one remaining furbaby, who is twelve years old, so he too is a senior dog. He knows his brother is gone and hasn't been himself the past few days. It happened so fast, I think everyone is still trying to process it all.

Orchid-Hin

I can understand where your hubby was coming from, that's kind of where I am right now. I told my hubby once the baby-dog of the pack is gone (the 12 year old - and hopefully we won't lose him for a long, long time) I don't think I want another furbaby. It just rips too much out of me to lose them.
