Bk #43--April mini challenge: Alex Gray is a good-looking, intelligent SAR tracker. He's strong (mentally and physically), flirtatious and caring. He suffers from commitment issues and haunting family secrets. It's easy to understand how he became the guy you-want-to-be-with-but-can't-count-on-the-relationship type.
I can't imagine anyone else other than Alex Gray as the hero of this story. So obviously I think he's a perfect fit. And i think Sophie was a perfect fit for him. She's exactly who he needed to help solve the present crimes as well as his family secrets. And by doing so, she gets the grand prize of someone ready for commitment. What a payout! I'd like to think he'd suit me because as I've said before, I guess I'm easy when it comes to heroes in my books.
I love the book cover. It's great! But if I was casting this role...Adam Beach...the new detective on Law & Order: SVU. I love him as an actor and he's not bad to look at either.
My thoughts: This was really a sequel of sorts to Finding His Child. I didn't know that when I ordered it. It's easily a stand alone book but I was happy to have the insight into Sabrina and Aaron's realtionship.
Anyhow, I thoroughly enjoyed this story--even more than the first one. Sophie was great because she's not the typical pencil-thin heroine you picture in these stories. In fact, TM goes out of her way to point out Sophie's got natural curves. And I was suprised by the twist of the Wilma Red Cloud murder. Definitely something about TM that resonates with me. Can't wait until I read her next book.
Back cover blurb: As an experienced search-and-rescue tracker, Alex Gray had solved his share of mysteries. But beneath his cool Lakota demeanor, Alex was running from his own dark secrets...including a traumatic family history that connected him to a deadly game. And only one woman could help him...
Sophie Brennan knew that Alex was truly the key to stopping the string of murders plauging the Washington mountains. But as the authorities questioned her credibility, she had to resist the almost mystical connection she shared with Alex. For hiding in the shadows, someone was waiting to silence her whispered warnings...forever.
