Scarlett, a hairstylist from Atlanta, Georgia, takes off to make her dreams come true in California. Eager to be her "life" and to make a name for herself she travels in a clunker cross-country.
Unfortunately, her car breaks down in Brody's Crossing, Texas. While she waits for her car to be repaired she works for a salon needing help and lives in the back of the salon. When older clients decide to sue Scarlett for breaking "prom queen hair" tradition, family-oriented James Brody comes on the scene.
This American Romance exemplifies everything I look for in a "keeper". I choose this book simply for the line (and the cowboy hat) as a research book. I made it through the first 4 chapters stopping to count pages, note where key characters were introduced, when the conflict originated, BUT then I fell in love with the story and couldn't make myself stop to take notes!!!!!
