SYNOPSIS: Wade Cordell is unsure if he wants to be one of the Bullet Catchers. He doesn't want to be back in a position where killing someone is an option. Surely his first assignment, to locate and bring Vanessa Porter to South Carolina, will be an easy one. How hard can it be? Unfortunately, there's just one problem... Vanessa's best friend is missing and she is determined to find him, even when it becomes very apparent someone doesn't want him found. Will Vanessa and Wade be able to work together to accomplish both of their goals?
MY THOUGHTS: THEN YOU HIDE is the second in a trilogy, although it is the fifth book featuring the Bullet Catchers. I suggest you read FIRST YOU RUN prior to reading THEN YOU HIDE as it provides the background as to Wade's mission and who the various secondary characters in the storyline are.
Roxanne St. Claire has crafted a rich, very complex series with fascinating ongoing threads. THEN YOU HIDE is nothing short of spectacular with the fast pace and the tension constantly mounting. I couldn't stop turning the pages as I just had to see what would happen next as the various twists and turns kept coming.
Vanessa is a little hard to like at first. Her snarky, almost rude attitude, makes her initially a bit annoying but as her story unfolds, it is easy to see why she has built up the walls around her. Her loyalty to her best friend is admirable as she refuses to give up on him no matter what is thrown at her. Wade is the perfect contrast to Vanessa, a man who is outwardly a former sniper but inside has a heart of gold. What a phenomenal combination!
