Thirty Nights by JoAnn Ross -Blaze #5 Sept 2001

Thirty Nights by Joann Ross

From the back cover:

Hunter St. John wants Gillian Cassidy. In his bed…fulfilling his fantasies. For 30 nights, that's the deal. He's going to make her scream with wild, wanton pleasure. Enjoy a little sweet revenge in the process. The perfect way to get her out of his system, right?

Maybe. Gillian is shocked by his proposition — and aroused. She's never forgotten Hunter and the way he can make her feel. But it's emotional blackmail. It could also be the best sex of her life….

Except what happens when the 30 days are over?

 My take:

A very hot sensual story with a scarred hero and an innocent heroine.  My rating 8/10

Fun to see this reviewed!

The early Blazes are my very favorites, and this one is definitely in my top three of all time. :)

What I loved most about this book was how absolutely emotionally involved I became very quickly -- mostly in absolutely *hating* the hero, LOL. I rarely beg heroines to "run, just run!" out loud, while reading, but it was pretty intense, and then the best part was how it turned... I think at the part where he gives her the piano, if I recall correctly -- there was a point where he *became* a hero, and I always thought that was one of the most masterful things I'd seen accomplished in a Blaze...

Hi Tammy, Hi Sam

I enjoyed this one when I read it (last year?), I couldn't make
myself hate him, but I loved the piano, and also how clearly he saw her
father

Sounds good.  Wish my library had more Blaze books!  (there's only a handful of Blazes... whereas there's hundreds each of Presents, Desire, Romance)

Hi Sam, Sadhbh and Janet

Sam and Sadhbh,

I agree with your thoughts completely.  I loved it when he gave her the piano.  Since my surgery (and my loopy pain medicine), it hurts to sit for too long and to think coherently) , so my reviews are a bit briefer than normal right now.  I almost waited to write this review as I thought this book deserved a well thought out review.

Janet,

Blaze books are hard to find at my library too.  I ended up buying the old ones on ebay in big lots for a low price.

JoAnn Ross .....

She's a phenomenal author ..... I was so emotionally involved in this book that I had to read it again right from the beginning as soon as I finished it .... Hunter is definitely one of those tortured heroes we all have a soft spot for ....

for someone who has problems with alpha heroes and the "revenge" theme, they may have issues with the intensity of some of the scenes .... I happen to love intense alpha's so this one will always be on my keeper shelf!

Katherine, yes

That was why I really couldn't stomach him at first... I don't like revenge plots much anyway, but it was just so revealing to me back then, as I was writing my own first book, how incredible it was that she could make the book so emotional, and make me really love this hero that I couldn't stand at the start of the book.

It was the inspiration, actually, for my own Ian, in Fascination, but I don't think I pulled the alpha hero/tough situation off nearly as well as JoAnn, though I tried, and a few people still liked the book, though Ian was definitely hard to take, too LOL. ;) Lately I have been writing mostly gamma guys, though my summer anthology hero, Joel, is an alpha...
