Topper

Topper was made into at least two movies and a television series, which were fun in their own right, but had none of the risque goings on of the original book.

Cosmo Topper is a staid, respectable, wealthy banker, with a vague yearning for romance.  Alas he is married to a wife who cherishes her dyspepsia more than she does him.  One day, however, he is lured into buying the automobile that the wildest couple in town, George and Marion Kirby, died in.  Little does he know it is haunted, and he is about to find more adventure, romance, booze, and wild escapes than he ever dreamed he was capable of.  And little does he guess that Marion Kirby is going to set her ectoplasmic mind on capturing him!
