A Treasure Worth Keeping by Kathryn Springer (Love Inspired # 436)

I expected so much more from Kathryn Springer's new release.

The story: Evie McBride, a school teacher, gets roped into spending her summer holiday running her father's antique shop. She meets Sam Cutter who asks for her help in tutoring his teenage niece. She is attracted to him, but keeps her distance. Evie likes her life save and predictable and is not prepared for the danger she finds herself in when she finds out that her dad is out treasure hunting and she herself a target for criminals.

I'm disappointed. I liked Kathryn Springer's previous releases, but A Treasure Worth Keeping bored me. At least I managed to finish the book, but I did struggle with it. I found the characters bland, the love story too slow and the suspense and the conflict unconvincing. My main problem is with the heroine. I couldn't relate to her at all and didn't see how Sam could fall in love with her. Of course, she is nice and helpful and she even knows how to protect herself, but she is also too scared, too naive and too... Oh, I don't know. I just didn't like her very much. Hopefully I will like her sisters better, as it is their stories coming up next.

Series: First book about the McBride sisters
