Schoolteacher Rumer Larkin never felt the need to stray from Hubbard’s Point. Rich with legends of seafaring spirits and lost treasures, the rustic village still echoes with the memories of Rumer’s past--even after those she loved have left. But now, so many summers after Zeb Mayhew broke her heart, he has returned with his teenage son, and Rumer knows her quiet life will never be the same again.
Comments:
This is the first audiobook I've listened to all the way through. I had it, was making two 3 hr trips, and needed to know if it had any skips, so I decided to try it out. I really don't like listening to audiobooks. They make me uncomfortable, don't sound like anything I'd imagine, take too long (I read faster than that), are easy to get lost at the slightest distraction, and it just doesn't feel like reading... I don't think I'll listen to more anytime soon, if ever.
As for the story itself. Some parts were sweet. Others were downright corny/sappy. I'm not big on corny/sappy, but I could live with it. I was, in fact, living with it. I made it through 3 1/2 discs before I got mad. Because I didn't like the ending; in particular, I didn't like Rumor's resolution with her sister. And I won't say more in case anyone decides to read (or listen) to it after all.
