68. Urban Shaman (Walker Papers, 1) - C. E. Murphy (Catie), LUNA, June 2005, ISBN: 9780373802234, 344p.
Featuring: Joanne (Jo, Joanie) Walker (Siobhán Walkingstick)
Synopsis:
Joanne Walker has three days to learn to use her shamanic powers and save the world from the unleashed Wild Hunt.
No worries. No pressure. Nevermind the lack of sleep, the perplexing new talent for healing from fatal wounds, or the cryptic, talking coyote who appears in her dreams.
And if all that's not bad enough, in the three years Joanne's been a cop, she's never seen a dead body — but she's just come across her second in three days.
It's been a __ of a week. And it isn't over yet.
Comments:
I liked this story. I liked that it felt like the author knows something about the cultures she mentioned. She has some interesting characters (like Gary the Cabby) and a nice sense of humour.
The great gift is the passion for reading. It is cheap [Hah! It most certainly is not!], it consoles, it distracts, it excites. It gives knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is moral illumination. ~ Elizabeth Hardwick
