Vendetta by Meredith Fletcher

This is really two stories in one, first there is the story of Winter Archer – she is hired to investigate the background of Marilyn Gracelyn, the founder of the Athena Academy.  David Gracelyn is not sure he wants Winter investigating, but with all the danger surrounding AA, he knows someone must.  As the two delve into the past, dangers surround them.  Can they figure out what the secret of Marilyn’s past is?  While the present story is going on, we also get the story of Marilyn and her husband, Adam.  How they meet and the danger that presents itself to them.  I really enjoyed this story, I did think that Marilyn and Adam took over the book a bit.  There story was just so compelling.  Winter and David were hard pressed to compete.  This book provided a lot of answers on the blackmailer.  Got me revved enough, I started the next AF book.  Overall, an excellent story.

TBR--The Born Readers

thanks!

Thanks!  Even though I am not caught up, I am ordering this series but I think I forgot to order the latest one or two.  Thanks!  This year I am determined to try to stay on course, reading my incoming books/subscriptions, and sure enough within 24 hours of the 2008 Challenge I see diversions entering...but since I buying this series, I just won't count your blog as a diversion or temptation, lol!

This was one of my favorites

This was one of my favorites in the series so far, I really enjoyed reading about Marilyn.  I am reading the next one in the series and enjoying it so far.

One of my faves too

I really enjoyed this book as well.  Meredith Fletcher is an awesome writer and did a great job at incorporating both stories in the plot.

Deb, while I enjoyed both

Deb, while I enjoyed both stories, I have to admit to sometimes - especially towards the end - wanting to go back to the past.  However, you are right she did a good job of mixing them up.

Had the feel of a Bombshell book

I just finished this book a couple of days ago.  This book so reminded me of the Bombshell books I love.  This is one of my favorites so far.  I loved the story of Marion and Adam.  I agree that they overshadowed David and Winter's story.  Need to read a library book that is due soon, then on to the next Athena book.

Kathy

Kathy - I agree Marion

Kathy - I agree Marion (oops, been calling her Marilyn) and Adam's story really pulled me in. I am hoping to hear more about them in an upcoming book.  Does anyone know if Allyson gets her book?

I hope Allison gets her own

I hope Allison gets her own story although I don't know if she does.  I should be starting Stacked Deck tomorrow.  Need to stop by your review to see what you thought of it.  I really liked Terry's Bombshell book "The Big Burn" and hope "Stacked Deck" is just as good.

Kathy

Kathy, it was okay, just

Kathy, it was okay, just not a great hero.  Some bombshells can have a hero who is great, but doesn't take over the book - Lex from EVaughn's books comes to mind, while in others, they just seem weak.

STACKED DECK

Oh duh, it didn't dawn on me that the author of STACKED DECK is the same as THE BIG BURN.  I really enjoyed THE BIG BURN.  Hmmm...  this may have to be my next book to read (if I can pull myself away from the Love Inspired Suspense line, that is!).

Well, I will be looking for

Well, I will be looking for your reviews, maybe it will work better for you both.
