The Vengeful Groom

For generations, couples have been coming to Eternity, Massachusetts, to exchange wedding vows. Legend has it that those married in Eternity's chapel are destined for a lifetime of happiness. And the townsfolk are more than willing to help keep the legend intact. .

ETERNITY...where dreams can come true.

It's been ten years since Tina's testimony condemned Giovanni to prison, ten years since the auto accident that killed her sister... ten years since she'd been betrayed.

But the years have made Gio stronger and harder. Amid hushed whispers and stares, he's dared to come back to Eternity, to regain the respect of his family. His plan calls for a bride, and Tina is about to learn just how ruthless and disturbingly sensual Gio's brand of vengeance can be.

My Review:

They were high school lovers, then the hero was accused of vehicular manslaughter...  the victims were the heroine's sister and baby nephew!  The heroine believed him to be guilty, and the hero was convicted and sent to jail for two years.  He comes back to town, 10 years later, having made a new man of himself, wanting vengeance and his proper place in his hometown.  The hero wants to regain the respect of his hometown, the love of his mother, and the heroine back in his arms.  He sets about buying his way back into their lives, but it's complicated by his mother's mental illness.

There are multiple plot holes and awkard plot lines, which I found hard to believe.  The hero waited ten years??  If he really loved the heroine, he'd have come back as soon as he could.  The mother's illness was ambiguous and cleared up far too easily!  We were lead to believe the mother had severe dementia and needed reminders about how/when to eat/walk/etc.  Money was a bit too much of a magical cure all for the hero's problems.

Rating: 3/5 stars, this was still a very passionate and enjoyable read though, despite plot holes/awkwardness.
