Venice, Italy: My Excellent Adventure at La Biennale Arts Festival

I never dreamed when I wrote my book, The Japanese Art of Sex: How to tease, seduce and pleasure the samurai in your bedroom, I would be speaking about geisha and performing Japanese dance in Venice, Japanese Art of Sex in trade paperbackItaly at La Biennale, the oldest and most prestigious cultural arts festival in the world.   I also had the opportunity to meet my Italian Harlequin Editor, Alessandra Bazardi, and sign copies of my Spice novel, The Blonde Geisha, in Italian: Passioni di una Geisha.

How did this all happen?  It was just like a fairy tale…

Once upon a time my nonfiction book featuring geisha, The Japanese Art of Sex, was translated into Italian…along with my coming-of-age Harlequin Spice novel, The Blonde Geisha.

Passioni di una Geisha

Passioni di una Geisha

Rino De Pace, the coordinator, at La Biennale invited me to be part of the dance festival and on the panel debating on the subject of using the body as an erotic medium of expression with critics and performers from around the world.

Stefania Lora helped me finalize the plans and the PR director, Lucia Da Re (you’ll meet Lucia in the video) assisted me when I was there along with Enrico Dal Bianco, my Italian bodyguard.  Enrico escorted me to my hotel in my own private Venice boat taxi--check out the video here

And then there was Alessandra Bazardi from Harlequin Italy.  She was fabulous!  Bringing copies of my Passioni di una Geisha books from Milano, setting up a book signing and taking me to dinner afterward.  I'll be putting up a video of Alessandra Bazardi and me on our hunt to find the best pizza in Venice.  We wandered up and down the dark narrow streets and over tiny bridges until we came to a square ablaze with lights and the smell of pizza.  Delizioso!

Grazie, Alessandra!

In case you missed them, here are the Venice videos I've put up on my blog–my flight from LAX to Venice on Air France, arriving in Venice by private boat, tour of my room at the Hotel Saturnai, then a tour of my hotel palazzo and Piazza di San Marco and gondolas.  Bookstores and gelati shops coming up next, then Venice street scenes, fashion boutiques, pizza, and carnival mask shops coming soon, so check my blog during the month of August for more fun in Venice!

Ciao, ciao.
