A Weekend with The Girls

BCS_sleeping.JPG

The weather finally turned warm and sunny.... just in time for the holiday weekend. I'd hoped to see the new Indiana Jones movie (I love Indiana!), but that will have to wait.

I'll be spending the weekend with my own fictional hero(s) writing the last few chapters of EVIE EVER AFTER. I'm pumped and in the zone, so it's a good thing! As soon as I type the end, I'm going to treat myself to a shopping trip and a movie. Then I'm going to settle in on the couch with my girls, Sadie, Cheyenne, and Billie and lose myself in a great book. I'm in the mood for a romantic action adventure. Any recommendations?

What about you? What are you doing this weekend?

I have to say...

Frenchie, Sadie is the coolest cat ever! She even wrestles with Cheyenne, the smaller dog in the middle. :)

Have a great weekend!

What a wonderful picture of

What a wonderful picture of the girls.  Looking forward to the next Evie.  Smile  I'm looking forward to the chance for reading this weekend myself.  I don't know if there is any romance in it but it certainly sounds like an adventure!  It's SWINE NOT by Jimmy Buffett about a pig and people who move frm Tennessee to New York.  Looks very funny and the pictures of the pig that start each chapter are very sweet/cute.  Otherwise, this weekend, I am reading medieval mysteries and romances.

Gossip maybe?

In this second pic all three of them look expectant - like they're ready for the party to kick in.  Maybe some gossip?  Isn't that what girlfriends are for? LOL

Let's see, my plans for this Memorial weekend?  Well, for the moment it's just to hang loose here at home.  We attended a H.S. graduation earlier in the day.  Monday we have a cookout to go to.  Otherwise we're chilling, or rather we're 'warming up' outdoors in the delicious sun.  It's actually reached that perfect spring temperature.  Should be great for everyone's outdoor celebrations.

As I've said probably a dozen times here on eharl, I can't wait for your third Evie.  I love your humorous voice as well as your winsome characters.  I'm kind of making a bet to myself that you'll bring Milo and Nicole into a bigger play (though if I'm wrong at least I'm not out of any money!).  And of course Evie and Arch are great.  I love the scope of their opposites attract relationship.  I've noticed that as the second book progressed, you had their mutual interests co-mingling more.  Perfect!

Beth

Well I am reading All About Evie which would be a great recommendation  for a romantic / action / adventure story, but since you wrote it, I guess it doesn't qualify  I will be having my Weekend with the girls next weekend,  We are going to Girl Scout camp. For some reason, your weekend sound so much nicer than mine! LOL   And "your girls" are so adorable!

Tammy

Hi, Tammy!

Your girls are in Girl Scouts?  My Katie just bridged from a Daisy to a Brownie.   We wanted to go out local G.S. camp too, but we're actually going on vacation during that week (ours is the first week of June)!  We have so much fun in her group!  Smile

Beth is going to read this and think, oh, no - that again!  I got on this subject during another of her blogs - the one about 'Make me smile'. <GG>

Amanda

I am a Girl Scout Troop Leader and my daughter is in 3rd grade, so this is her last time as a Brownie.  She will be a Junior next year.

We camp every year and all the girls have so much fun.

Paisley...

I'm looking forward to the next Evie too. That's why I've been absent. I'm trying to finish writing it. Heh. Thankfully, I'm close.

So, how's SWINE NOT? Love the title and the concept sounds like a hoot. You mentioned reading medieval mysteries. That sounds interesting. Can you share a title?

Your weekend sounds fabulous. The weather turned nice here, too. Finally. So are you enjoying that BBQ today?

Thank you, as always, for you kind words and enthusiasm regarding the Evie series. You make me feel like a million bucks! You guessed right, btw, Milo and Nic play a much bigger role in the third book. Speaking of, I should get back to it! Sealed

They are really paying attention to something...do they allways sit still to have their picture taken?

Got Books?

Terri...

I think my husband, who took the picture, was tempting them with a treat. They'll do just about anything for snacks, including Sadie-the-cat. Tongue out

So far Swine Not? is

So far Swine Not? is great.  Funny, cute, sweet.  You might loke that one just because it is so whimsical and funny  and yet tender hearted.

Medieval Mysteries:  RIght now I am reading The Leper's Bell by Peter Tremayne and also two by Ariana Franklin: Mistress of the Art of Death and The Serpent's Tale.  The protagonist is this feminist forensic person.  All are very different in tone than what I have been reading lately.

For your Girls Scout question - Brownies earn Try-its (which is still a patch) and Junior Scouts earn badges,  Brownies is 1st - 3rd grade and Juniors is 4th - 5th grade.

Also, I finished All About Evie in 2 days.  Too funny, I have this thing about reading longer books.  I like to read shorter books after I read longer books., So,when I saw All About Evie had almost 400 pages, I wanted to pass on it for now.  But, I really wanted to read it too.  Best move I made was reading it.  I can't remember the last time I so thoughly enjoyed a book.  It was sexy, funny and Evie is a hoot.  I love Arch and Milo too (Gina not as much lol)  Now i can;t wait to read the sequel and for you to finish the 3rd book.

Tammy

Tammy....

I'm glad you liked it, too!  Evie is a hoot!  I'd swear she was a real person, wouldn't you?

Amanda

Evie has to be real - I love her line when she's in the shower with Arch and she comments that it is not like sex in romance novels,  Too funny.  Beth - you have a rare gift girl!

Tammy

Laugh versus crying....

Tammy, I agree that her sense of humor is a blast.  I wish I was that funny, but unfortunately, I'm more Ernest Hemingway-serious than comical. I finish telling a joke, and everyone is still waiting for the punchline - that's how bad I am at being funny.  And that's why it's so refreshing for me to read something that makes me laugh.  I mean, don't take me wrong, I like books that make me cry, too.  But for some reason (maybe because I'm usually serious), it's harder to make me pull out tissues over a novel.  I'm more prone to laughing over something humorous, even if I'm not funny myself.  Am I talking in circles here?   Odd, aren't I?

I do try to look on the brighter side of life, even if I can't make jokes.  Don't you feel sorry for me? LOL Laughing

Gosh, I've fallen...

behind in reading these posts. Sorry, ladies!

Tammy and Amanda, I am so thrilled that Evie made you laugh! I can't think of anything I'd rather do than to bring joy. Funny thing is, if you met me you could be disappointed because I am NOT funny in person. LOL Can't tell a joke to save my life. However, when I write... humor comes out. One of the world's great mysteries. Laughing

I hear you, Beth....

I'm the same way.  I'm the un-funniest person you could meet face-to-face.  My family used to be amazed when I wrote for our local paper.  Sometimes I diverted from regular news articles and submitted editorials.  They thought the editorials were hilarious, so much so that they actually ask me if I honestly wrote them.  How's that for busting a writer's bubble - LOL. Laughing

Great story, Amanda!

Laughing Love it. I guess it's just a slice of our personalities that comes out in a different way.
