In case anyone is wondering what ever happened to my unsolicited book loaning incident (Coworker loans me book I never asked for. I hate it. What do I say?) I have an update. The story actually ended on a bit of a twist.
In the midst of my debating, my parents came down for a visit from another state. In walks dad with a copy of another book in the same series by the same author. (No joke!) That gives me an idea.
Today, I returned the book to the coworker, saying honestly that I didn't read it. Then saying somewhat-but-not-entirely-honestly that I'm returning it because my parents brought me a copy of this author's latest. Since her point was turning me on to this author, I figured I'd return hers in lieu of the new one I have. Ended fine, no harm done, no pretending I read it and no hurt feelings (as long as she never visits this blog, of course!
)
And from now on, I'm following the great advice I got here. I'm not accepting any more unsolicited book loans. In fact, my shelves are currently clear of loaned books, and that's the way it's staying.

Wow, what a coincidence!
I'm glad it worked out for you.
I love it here on eharlequin. Like you said, lots of good advice and everyone is always so willing to try to help everyone else out.
Little bit of serendipity,

A charmed life
you must lead, Lori. I am glad it didn't turn out messy!
(Of course I am still grumbling about someone who would recommend a book to an author.)

Hey Lori
I've got a book I'd like to lend you. I know you will love it.
Just kidding!
I'm hilarious. Or at least I am in my own head.

Can I borrow your book? I promise to give it back.
....hee hee....
Too funny!
Glad it turned out so well and no blood spilled.

I know, I thought it was so
I know, I thought it was so funny that my folks brought down a book by the same author, right at the time I was agonizing over how to return the one I've had on my shelves for months! It was like a sign from above. LOL!

I think you're hilarious too! (But then again not many people get my sense of humor.)
