What the Millionaire Wants... by Metsy Hingle (SD 1846)

The family hotel she manages is in debt to the tune of $15 million. He's collecting on the debt and taking over the hotel. Then they make a bet: she has 30 days to raise $15 million and save the hotel, but if she doesn't do it, she has to spend a night in bed with him. They are both attracted, but it's complicated by the fact that the heroine's been dating his asshole stepbrother.

Best scene of the book (this was used as the opening teaser):

Him: I have another idea for what the stakes for the bet could be, but I've got the feeling you're not going to like it.

Her: *from the way he looks at her, she assumes he wants sex* ..going to bed with you isn't my idea of a prize

Him: That's a pretty big assumption you've made

Her: All right what did you have in mind?

Him: Forget my idea. I like your idea better.

The chemistry is great, the story is good, the conflict about the business is great. The only negative is that the heroine's been dating (and is still currently casually seeing) his stepbrother. That relationship just takes away from the romance of the hero/heroine (because she's still dating the stepbro, she slept with him, and it was a serious long-term relationship).

Rating: 3.5/5 stars, good story but I'm low-balling it because of the mess with the stepbrother.
