I couldn't help noticing how odd the cover of the latest Athena book is. "Breathless by Sharron McClellan
Ok I can see the blurb says it takes place under a sunken ship but at first glance I thought they were nude!! It just hit me in a funny way almost kind of cheesy. I hope the book itself is better than the cover.

re: what's up with this cover?
Cheesy is right...another one of those times where it would probably turn me off the book. Good thing I'm already enjoying the Athena Force series! It'll be one that I'll read at home, though, rather than on my lunch break at work...so no one asks me about it...
Also I'm sure I'm in the minority
but I don't like my guys quite that muscular, so some of the shirtless guy covers are actually a bit of a turnoff. I know, I know, I'm crazy! But when they're wearing clothes, I'm free to picture the guy as muscular or un-muscular as I like...and I find I enjoy the love scenes more.
You know I'm kind of picky
You know I'm kind of picky about certain types of muscular men myself. I don't like them too muscular there is a certain type of chest that I like. That one isn't very appealing to me either.

I don't like the wet chest
look myself, muscular or otherwise, and her hair looks really weird,
but I've always said it's the pages between the covers that interest
me, so I suppose I can't complain if the art dept takes me at my word

They might have to start a new class. Coverology and what it means. I too will have to read this at home or download it to my reader. Wouldn't want to shock anyone. Although last week I was the one shocked when I came to open the gym and their were condom wrappers by my door. Last year we were going out the back door to jog the field and one of the kids said, "what's this", and picked up a used condom. I said, "put that balloon down and go wash your hands." Was a first grader so they bought it. I think our school sees a lot of action at night. You Tnink! School never boring.

I thought the same thing when I got my books - definately not your typical bombshell cover. It will be one that I am not reading around my hubby or I will never hear the end of it.

I just received that book in my last order and gosh it looks worse in real life
I really hope the book itself makes up for it. I will probably get some ribbing from my guy too he likes to make fun of the more nude covers anyway.
