Ever since my pitch I've been in a writing slump. I open my wip, read where I left off and stare at the page for a while before I end up closing it and find something else to do.
I've come to the conclusion that there may be several reasons for my muse taking an unscheduled vacation and one of these is just plain life. Daily life, the grind of family responsibility, intrusion into my creative time. Anothewr of these is possibly the excitement and anticipation of my new puppy coming home, getting things ready for Cherokee, making sure the family and home is ready for the newest member's arrival in just over a week. This is a biggy for me because I've been waiting for this day for nearly 15 years! What? You say I should have had plenty of time to get ready and still have time to write? You're right. But I'm not.
To top off this, we are trying to get our house ready for us to move into it while working, babysitting, and focusing on not over doing it on a daily basis at the same time. While work on the house is slow, the mover has yet to strap it down with the required earthquake/tornado straps, so we aren't able to get a set-up certificate to move in until this is done. YEs, we've contacted him numerous times and he is hopefully going to get it done by the weekend finally.
Another cause for my muse to vacate the premisses is the numbness I suffer with, and have for a long time now, in my left hand, and the pain in my right wrist from a strained tendon (tendonitis). It eases up then gets worse again so now I'm about to get a new treatment for it stasrting in June, I think. In the meantime, I have to lift/carry a 25 pound baby and it just makes it worse. I do try to do this as little as possible, but can't cut the activity completely since I'm the babysitter.
I have decided that I won't let life defeat me, however. When I am unable to write I have been reading, plotting, and keeping my creative mind active in other ways. I feel this is the best way for me to hold on to the thing I love-- Writing. Even when I can't continuously physically write.
What do you do to keep your muse active when she refuses to cooperate?

How to get back my Muse
I usually work on more than one story at a time, and most times, when I have a block with the main one, I switch to the other and it works ... most times.
When you say let there be in any form, something happens
Empire
I usually do that too, but lately it isn't working. I can't seem to find the time with tooooo much going on constantly of late. I'm going to try to change that soon though. I also think once my puppy gets here Saturday it will help. :)
