Wyatt Hattfield had driven into a blizzard and now realized he should have stopped. Shortly thereafter he and a truck collide which puts him in a life or death situation. Shortly after this occurs Glory Dixon sat up in bed and then roused her family to take her to the hospital. The soldier needed blood and hers was one of the only rare types around. As Wyatt is being taken out of the hospital to recuperate he spies a family pulling into the pharmacy across the street. His eyes were drawn to them, but especially the small girl in the middle. After he gets a better look, and the wind pushes her coat around, he realizes it is a young woman. She is beautiful, or so he thinks, and she thanks him for the sentiment. Fast forward a bit to Wyatt almost completely recovered. He suddently sat up in bed when he swears he hears a scream, only the house is not stirring at all. A while later someone keeps calling his name. Wyatt feels compelled to do something and decides to start with the hospital and the doctor that patched him up. He learns of the mystery woman that saved his life and then also learns of that whole families recent demise. Wyat decides to make a farewell pilgimage to the site of the accident and wishes, out loud, he had come sooner and could have helped. Then out of the darkness Glory comes and asks if he really means this. Needless to say he is stunned but agrees to help any way he can. And Glory needs some outside help, as she knows the fate of her family was really meant for her and someone would try again when she revealed she was alive.
I liked this book as I figured I would. It had been on my TBB list for a long time and I finally couldn't stand it and went on the internet to find a copy.
