The Secrets of Stoneley – Book 6 of 6

.

.

Under tremendous strain from all the turmoil that has found her family, Miranda Blanchard’s panic attacks have worsened. It scares her when she thinks she hears her mother singing, when she knows it’s impossible. Her fear is that she’s losing her mind like they said her mother had. So she digs deep for the courage to return to the mental health support group sponsored by her Church. Leading the group is the new pastor, Reverend Greg Brown; they’d met the week before at a wedding. Greg wonders about the haunting and lovely Miranda. And as they begin to get to know each other, Miranda leans on Greg and draws on his strength. The tension in Blanchard Manor reaches its peak, with more clues that Miranda’s mother is truly alive and with increased threats on the family. And as the mysteries become answered, Greg is left wondering if Miranda will still need him.

This was a perfect ending to the mysteries of the Blanchard family, tying up all the loose ends from the previous books. This one too was a perfect balance of the two plot lines; the series plot of the mystery of Trudy and the growing relationship between Greg and Miranda. I enjoyed watching Miranda find her inner strength through Greg’s support. The two complete each other nicely. It’s almost a shame to say goodbye to this family; the Blanchards have been a dynamic group. I’m satisfied with the resolution of the ongoing mystery and I’m very pleased with Miranda and Greg’s HEA. The epilogue was a lovely way to show how all the romances had turned out.

April Mini-Challenge ~~ “It’s Raining Men” ~ #2

  • Greg Brown – pastor and community leader … compassionate, strong, great looking … has his own insecurities and past failures to overcome. … Miranda is a good match for him … I’d take him …. I think I’d cast Aidan Quinn to play Greg

Casting Greg .....

Aidan Quinn

While I was reading this book, I had Lorie's challenge in my thoughts ... and casting for Gregory Brown came easy .... Aidan Quinn  .... his role in that movie with Sandra Bullock, came to mind ... about the witches and he played the U.S. Marshall ~ Practical Magic .. when I goggled to find a photo that would suit his image as Reverend Greg Brown, I was reminded that Aidan played a priest recently in a short lived tv drama .... unfortunately, none of those photos were available to download ... but he definitely looked the part of Greg Brown  .... I like Aidan's quiet self-assurance and yet, he strikes me as a sort that can jump in to the rescue ... at least that's the impression he gave in the movie with Sandra Bullock   .... I also wanted to mention that as the cover for this book did not depict a hero, it was fairly easy to picture one of my own

Aidan Quinn

I remember him being very selfless in Benny and Joon as Joon's older brother

Stand Alone...

Can this be read as a stand-alone?  Because I only have this book since I'm a big Lynn Bullock fan.

I suppose it could .....

no .... actually I don't think it should be read as a stand alone ..... the ongoing plot with the disappearance of Trudy (the mother of the six sisters) progresses in the book ... and some of the red herring clues in earlier books come out in this one .....  I think you'd miss not having read the earlier books

OH Well...

I guess I'll make an effort to track down the other books...

Great picture of Aiden Quinn... I like that actor.  He was really good in Legends of the Fall.  I've seen him in other stories but he's particularly memorable in this one.  I much prefer him to Brad Pitt who was one of the other actors in this story.

Aidan Quinn ....

I loved him in Legends   ...  that was a great movie .. and I agree, in that one I liked him over Brad Pitt, though Brad had a great role as well

Totally Agree...

I'm not a big Brad Pitt fan but I agree... He had a great role in that one.
