This book is the continuing story of four young mages. I bought the first series for my then preteen daughters. We all liked them and I bought the second series as well. What I like most about this author has strong female characters and her beautifully created world. I would recommend these books for young women.
The first four books about the four young orphans and how they learn that they have magic that is very different from the norm. As they learn how use there magic they learn how to be a family. The second four books are how once they earned their medallion (it’s like a diploma for mages) they go out into the world and take on there first apprentices. In this book they come back home and find they are not as close any more. They go on quest together and learn to trust each other again.
