WONDER WOMAN by Jodi Picoult, CANDY COATED CLOWN by J Morgan, & IN THIS HOUSE by Kathryn Meyer Griffith

Okay, I combined several books to meet the word requirement here~ up to 207 pages with the three.  So it's a graphic novel and two ebooks, just to make it MORE confusing!

WONDER WOMAN by Jodi Picoult (128 Pages):  Jodi Picoult takes on the icon, Wonder Woman, in this graphic novel.  It's actually the third book in a trilogy (unless you actually were buying the individual issues as they came out) and oddly enough the first part isn't yet available.  Yell  It can stand alone without that first part but the ending is a cliffhanger so now I have to decide if I want to buy the third part, which is NOT by Jodi Picoult.  Wonder Woman is questioning who she is in this book, as she struggles with whether she is human or one of the Amazons and she has to make some tough decisions.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and liked the feminist viewpoint that Jodi Picoult brought to the Wonder Woman storyline.  There are some great touches of humor here that left me laughing out loud.  I was impressed as I had my doubts when I first heard Picoult was taking on the Wonder Woman theme.

CANDY COATED CLOWN by J Morgan (Champagne Books, 60 pages):  Candice Sullivan is having a bad day, and it's her birthday!  Then, instead of her birthday stripper, she gets a clown.  A clown!  Anyone traumatized by Stephen King's It (Pennywise the clown) will understand her horror....

OMG, J Morgan is one of those authors you have to read!  I've actually read this one a couple times since my initial reading of it since it's so darn funny!  I fear clowns but J Morgan made this clown sexy and funny.  J Morgan is a MUST read author that I keep hoping will get the attention of some of the bigger publishing houses.

IN THIS HOUSE by Kathryn Meyer Griffith (The Wild Rose Press, 19 pages)

My review on this one is live already at CK2S Kwips and Kritiques so here it is:

Althea and Bernard have lived their lives filled with love for one another.  They’ve lived in the same house with all their memories.  As they reminisce about their days dancing at the Knotty Pine Dance Hall, Althea and Bernard look around and see that all that they remember is gone.  Their friends and neighbors sold out due to the fear of contamination but Althea and Bernard just can’t bear to leave.  Althea and Bernard now only want to see their daughter, Jenny, experience the same happiness.

IN THE HOUSE is a bittersweet tale.  Despite the brevity of the format, Kathryn Meyer Griffith does an excellent job at developing the characters of Althea and Bernard.  The bond between these two long time lovebirds is evident from the very beginning.  One can’t help but be drawn into the memories of the days long past as Althea and Bernard reminisce about the years they have spent together.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a gift for drawing readers into the heart of the story.  She has written several horror novels in the past that rank among some of my oldest beloved keepers and it was thrilling to me to see that she still has that same punch to her stories.  I’m embarrassed to admit that I had lost track of her recent publications but IN THIS HOUSE reminded me of why I have cherished those earlier books over the years.  IN THIS HOUSE is highly recommended!

The Wonder Woman sounds like

The Wonder Woman sounds like fun.  Last year ChrissieSue asked this question about Wonder Woman and Cinderella and ever since then, I have been getting lots of great Cinderella reads but no Wonder Woman reads to think about her question from the other side.
