Did you go to school with kids that could remember all the dialogue from the Star Wars movies? I am sorry to say I thought those guys who sat in the back of my Honors Government class were goobers. (Honors Government- what an oxymoron.)
Tonight my two sons treated me to the 'One Ring to Rule Them All' prologue which they had memorized. We then had a long discussion as to possible reasons Lego has not manufactured any LOTR sets. My 10yr old understands merchandising and copyright stuff but my 8yr old just thinks Lego should be forced to make the sets.
I suggested our Dumbledore lego would work as Gandalf and the boys were off. We have a few Yoda legos and he has short legs so they came up with close likenesses of Frodo and Sam. Now of course they are clamoring for different sets to make up some other characters. The biggest disappointment is we can't find any pieces to use as hair for Legolas. We do have a bow from a set with knights!
Last year my son's 3rd grade teacher read the Hobbit to the class. I hadn't really thought about the movies before that. We bought all 3 last Fall and have watched them numerous times. I love that the movies are something we all enjoy as a family.

I dont know about you.....
My precioussssss.....
but I use lines from LOTR in everyday conversation all the time.
If some one asks me to pass the salt, I say "if you want it colme and claim it!!"
If someone wants to get by I say: "You shall not pass!!"
I often eat "second breakfast"
and you dont want to know what I said when i met some one with the last name Underhill.
I use lines from I Love Lucy, MASH and Looney Tunes as well.

That preciousss freaks me out. My kids do the whole scene of second breakfast and their accents crack me up! Rumor is there is a Hobbit movie coming out (?)
Fake Frenchie- Let me check out that spoof before I let the boys see it. My husband found a music video of a band dressed up as Star Wars characters. Let me see if I can find it.

Fake Frenchie and Tammys
Fake frenchie- I loved the spoofs! That was a neat website.
Tammys- LOTR is definitely not for a school night. My boys always want to watch the extended versions so that is what, 10 hours all together? I also think the documentaries on the making of the films are almost as good as the movies. I figure we will be back to the Star Wars movies when the new clone movie comes out this summer.

LOTR Spoofs/Parodies
Play I saw a couple years ago, here in LA called "The Fellowship"...it was a musical spoof on all 3 films condensed into about 2.5 hours. I think there was about 12 actors playing multiple roles.
It also spoofed The Matrix when Elrond came on stage wearing dark glasses and called Frodo "Mr Anderson".
There was an 80's power balad with Aragorn and Arwyn.
Legolas was played by a girl, and skipped round on stage preening his/her hair.
I think it is touring somewhere....I know they did ComicCon a couple of years ago.
also, did you see Mad TV's "Lord of the Bling"? "FroHo" finds a gold ring and is looking for a pawn shop.
Then Mad Magazines "Bored of the Ring".
