Love is in the Air
February is the month for ROMANCE....While browsing throught the eharlequin store I came across Holly Jacob's book ONCE UPON a Valentine... along with more titles that have the word Valentine in the title.. which can be found here..
I am crazy about romance, those who know me would agree. I started wondering what my ideal Valentine's date would look like, a nice candlelight dinner?? a walk on the beach, etc... that being said,
What would be your IDEAL Valentine???? Post your ideal Valentines day or the best Valentines day date you have had.
The best story will recieve a copy of Holly's new book Once Upon a Valentine's.

Valentine's
This year for Valentine's...well, it's a bit less than romantic. I'm doing a signing (actually Susan Gable and I are doing one that Saturday and another on Sunday!!) and my dh will be at a basketball game. But we're going to try to celebrate a bit early with a dinner out. I'll keep you posted how that goes. So, how about you all?

Holly it sounds like you are
Holly it sounds like you are going to have a good time seeing lots of people. I wished you came to Nebraska that would be really nice to be able to meet you in person. I am not sure what we will be doing Valentines Day we have a little grandbaby and she will be 4 months old I think I will be doing something with her. I have bought her tons of little things. Hubby and I love spending all the time with her that we can. So maybe the three of us will go out and celebrate. Hope you have a great dinner with hubby. Your book is ready to be ordered now?
Ideal valentine
My ideal valentine is a surprise getaway with my husband with no worry about how we'll pay for it, no mental calculator ticking away the dollars as we eat a lovely romantic dinner and no question as to what bill we will forgo to enjoy such a decadent weekend. I want to spend time with my husband that does not include the fruit of our loins banging on our bedroom door wanting to know why the door is locked; or our youngest crawling into our bed and interrupting anything that might've been encouraged some friskiness on our part; and lastly, a bed that doesn't creak like the Santa Maria on the high seas with the slightest movement. *sigh* One can dream...
In the absence of that tall order...I'd love some beautiful flowers and a genuine note of affection signed by the man I fell in love with almost 17 years ago.

My Ideal Valentine
My ideal valentine is my husband . . . But my ideal day with him would include the following:
For every year we have been together there would be a rose. And for each year there would be a different color rose:
The first year we were only friends, so that would be a yellow rose.
The second year we were together after realizing (for me in an exact moment) that we were totally in love and that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, so that would be a purple rose.
The third year was a very difficult one for the both of us. I had recently been diagnosed with a disease and Dave's grandpa died on Valentine Day, so that would be a pink rose to symbolize our appreciation for one another.
The fourth year was our first year married, so that would be a white rose.
The fifth, sixth and seventh years would get a traditional red rose, representing our enduring love.
And this year, our eighth year, would get an orange rose. We are very enthusiastic about our life together now. We live in a new house in a new area and we have a new daughter-- these are all major changes from last year and we are excited and passionate about embracing them.
In addition to which, each rose would have a note attached from my darling husband.
THAT would be my ideal Valentine.

Valentine's
MD, It is going to be a very busy Valentine's weekend. Susan Gable and I both live in Erie, but we've never had books on the shelf the same month...and to be even cooler, they're both set in Erie. So it made sense to do a bunch of things together. I wish I could come to Nebraska, too! Maybe someday I'll be nearby for a talk and we'll meet!
Ah, Kim, that's lovely! Maybe you can find a sitter for the kids and do something simple. Heck, I'd take McDonalds with must my dh and no kids and count it as romance! LOL
Oh, LOC, that's so sweet!!

Valentines
Valentines day is a holiday I boycott. I know, I'm such a scrooge. The guys always get it wrong... if there's a guy at all. LOL So it's fun to hear everyone's stories.
My best valentines happened when I was around 26 or so. I boycotted it and my friend and I spent 2/14 at the bingo hall. We were the youngest there by like 20-30 years. The place was packed, and I'd never played before. I spent my last $10 on bingo cards and my girlfriend and I sat down next to her mom and grandma and such.
I 29 came up, and I had bingo. I won $100. Definitely better than chocolate.

ps. Personally Valentine can come and go for me. Since I dont have anybody special in my life. I will probably that evening after getting home will get a really great book and get cofy in my recliner to read. I will have some butter popcorn, regular m/m's and pepsi.loll.
Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders & says...
'Oh hell! She's awake!!' thank you for letting me use it Nini
My boyfriend of 7 years and
My boyfriend of 7 years and I rarely do anything special for Valentines day. During the early years of our relationship I was usually away at school on Valentines, and now with our often conflicting schedules we are lucky if we can even squeeze in a "I love you" phone call.
That being said we would both love to be able to sneak away for a weekend on Valentine's day to a cozy little mountain cabin with a great view. I can do without the flowers and candy, or any of the traditional trappings of this holiday of love. My fantasy Valentine's is all about dedicated time together without distractions and interuptions.
Wednesday
Aurelene, Very nice!!
Patsy, Wow, what a lovely Valentine's plan!!
Sheryl, Hey, sneaking in an I-love-you is always lovely! And your plan for a mountain in sounds great, except there'd be snow. We've had more than 120 inches here in Erie this year...I'm done with snow! <g>

Romance and Love
Valentine's Day for me is so very important. On this day 10 years ago my partner and I engaged rings. We felt that we had everything we needed and why marriage. That changed though in April when I almost died and told my DH that I wanted to be married. We married the next year.
So each year we go to a little Italian restaurant for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and our love for each other. Then we go home for a little snuggle time with champagne, candlelight and a cozy fire.
Holly sorry you're signing but celebrating doesn't have to happen on the exact day as long as the sentiment is there. Sapphire I'm sure the surprise will be great. mdprowler - what a nice way to celebrate Valentine's day but with your hubby and grandchild. Enjoy. Kim - I wish I could grant you your wish. But flowers and affection sound pretty good. LotsofCats - wow that sounds romantic. Congratulations on the new home and your daughter. Michelle - I'm sorry you haven't enjoy Valentine's Day. I know how that feels because I felt the same before I met my guy. Aurelene - what a nice idea to celebrate the day. patsyadkins - what a great way to show the troops that they are loved and thought of in this very special way. HSheryl - Well hope your fantasy comes true. And if you want any snow for your fantasy take some of ours, I'm so tired this year of snow, snow, snow!Nothing more relaxing than a good book and a cup of tea.
Valentine's is special to me
My husband saw me at a Valentine's dance (Friday Feb10) at SAIT (Southern Alberta Intitute of Technology). He is from Mennonite background and really doesn't dance. I had gone with a group of girls from the U of Calgary to the dance. One of his friends ended up taking one of my friends home that night and the next day invited her and some of us to a party at the house they were rooming at. He said to be sure and bring the girl that had been wearing the red dress as his friend wanted to meet me. My husband proposed to me that night. I really didn't take him seriously. On Tuesday Feb 13th I received a nutty Valentine's card from him and my girlfriend drove me to his place so I could leave a nutty Valentine's card in his mailbox. I really love getting nutty Valentine's cards from my husband.
This year everything is up in the air. I don't even know for sure if he will be home on that day. New job maybe with the potential that he will be away from home. After 40 years of marriage I know he loves me and that is the most important thing. Right now I have an orchid that is blooming again sitting on my table. I got it for Mother's day a couple of years ago from my husband and my cats.
My ideal Valentine's Day would be to go out to our favorite Greek restaurant and just indulge without worrying about calories or cost. LOL

BookBuff, I'm so sorry you came so close to death, but I'm glad you two figured out what you wanted. What a sweet way to celebrate!
Kaelee, What a lovely how-we-met story. And of course, I'm happy to inform you that there are no calories on Valentine's (no matter what day you celebrate) so go eat your Greek food guilt-free! LOL
