Bones ~ Season 3

DR. TEMPERANCE BRENNAN (Emily Deschanel) is a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institution and writes novels as a sideline. Law enforcement calls on her to assist with murder investigations when the standard methods of identifying a body are useless – when the remains are badly decomposed, burned or destroyed beyond recognition. Brennan’s special expertise lies in her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim’s bones.

Brennan often finds herself teamed with Special Agent SEELEY BOOTH (David Boreanaz) of the FBI’s Homicide Investigations Unit. A former Army sniper, Booth mistrusts science and scientists – the “squints,” as he calls them, who pore over the physical evidence. Booth believes the key to solving crimes lies in discovering the truth from those still alive – witnesses and suspects – through good-old-fashioned investigative work. Brennan and Booth frequently clash both professionally and personally, but so far the chemistry between them has only played out in a fictionalized account in Brennan’s latest mystery novel.

Several questions were left hanging at the end of Season Two: What happened after Angela and Hodgins fled the altar, leaving Brennan and Booth to fill the gap? Will Zack go to Iraq? If so, what will happen to him there? Will Cam and Booth resume their on-again, off-again relationship?

In the third season of BONES, Brennan and Booth find themselves on the trail of a serial killer who discards his many victims' remains off freeway overpasses. Brennan also must deal with the trial of her father, MAX KEENAN (guest star Ryan O'Neal), for the murder of the Deputy Director of the FBI.

The episode that was on

The episode that was on tonight was not one I had seen. It must have been a repeat I missed.  Anyway I am a real fan of the show.

Got Books?

I am a big fan

I love this show.   I did not watch when it first started so missed half of the first season......but have gotten it on dvd from netflix....so I am all caught up.

I just recently read all of Kathy Reichs books....through the library.   They were good also....a little techniqual, and detailed......I prefer Booth on the series to Ryan in the books.

This years Christmas show was good, but I like the first Christmas show when we learn that Booth has a son....

I think the next one  on Fox on Tuesday should be a new one.....

I know that TNT just started the series on Tuesday nights....and they are starting at the begining....

lisa

New shows!

Just read there will be new epis starting April 14... I guess we'll only have between 4-7 new epis of shows we are waiting for before the summer break, but then they'll be back in the fall... still, it's better than nothing.

I've sort of forgotten where this one left off... seems like eons ago...

ellen

Anyone

just as upset by last night's episode as I was?  And then I watched House afterwards and oh, it was one upsetting night of television for me!

I haven't seen it yet...

But what was upsetting? I don't care about spoilers, I would rather avoid an upsetting show...

okay,

I just caught up with both epis last night and loved them! they were amazing. I didn't find anything really upsetting, except the end with what happened to Booth, but we know he'll be okay in the end... so I never find that stuff too upsetting...

They're doing such a great job with this show and the characters.

Zack NOOOOOOO

Zack NOOOOOOO

Worrying is like a rocking chair,it gives you something to do,but it gets you nowhere.

Yeah, kinda saw that one

Yeah, kinda saw that one coming -- though I also think the storyline will come back, I personally suspect that Sweets is still the big bad, and Zack was just taking the fall, creating a diversion so that his "Master" could continue his work uninterrupted. I mean, the whole scene catching of the guy with the teeth in the house was very anti-climactic and too glossed over -- they just shoot this guy, they never say a word about him, who he is, who he'd gotten that time, where he came from... and he didn't look like a bulb bright enough to convince brilliant people to follow him. He looked like a patsy, covering for someone else.

And Zack's directions came too easily, and it all worked out far too cleanly -- like it was all part of a plan. They also focused on Sweets a little too much, how he's manipulating people, even at the end, and there was What's her face, the boss who used to be a cop, who nailed Sweets. I still think it's Sweets running the show, and they'll come back to it next year. After all, he has the psychological brilliance to manipulate people like Zack, and he's always around...

If they don't come back to him, I think it's a mistake, and kind of a lazy way to have wrapped up the storyline...

Did anyone fall for the fake funeral? *G*

Sam --- I've been thinking

Sam --- I've been thinking the same way......it was too calm an ending no real suspense......something is still wrong and I hope they start next season with a new surprise beginning.

Ellen,

"Calm" is a good word, yes -- it was just "off" -- I really do think it will come back...

okay, don't spoil it for me

okay, don't spoil it for me .. I had to tape it ~ Hopefully I can watch it by friday ! LOL

No spoilers..

But I have to admit, I thought it was a strange opener. Kind of all over the place, some hysterical moments, some "huh?" moments and all in all sort of discombobulated and just odd. Maybe because different writers wrote part one and part two?

And I STILL think Sweets should be the big bad, though there's no hint of anything in that direction... It's like they just started everything from scratch and left all the past build-up behind...

Hey Sam, I did watch it

Hey Sam, I did watch it  lst night, and I would have to agree !

Odd openner, indeed ....

What are they trying to do with the Sweets character?  .... that's almost like a "copy" from Jordan and the psych who frequented the show ...... wonder if the writers from Jordan now write for Bones

and enough with the lovey dovey with Angela and Hodgins .... it's just a little tooooo sweet

I want some of that edgier stuff they had in the first two seasons

yep, definitely think the writers from Jordan write for Bones .... if I remember, that show got all sappy too towards it's demise

Whew!

Glad I'm not alone and just being critical. Dh really disliked how they had Seely being so silly in London, throwing tantrums in the street, unable to drive, etc -- the guy navigates DC, etc, which is not exactly easy traffic, so I think he would be okay. Also, they just had him acting weird. Like, part comedy part mystery.

The Hodge/Angela thing got me, too -- so, at the start, Hodge is all "I'd die for her" and then it's like "Oh, we don't trust each other, hey, how about that?" and it's over? How stupid. Would never get away with this in a book, it was so lame.  But again, it's like they were just doing whatever in order to wipe the story slate clean and start new, which is unfortunate, since they had some good things brewing end of last season...

Maybe it was network pressure?

speaking of books

the lady who wrote the original books just came out with a new one. I should get it soon from the library. I'll let you know if it gets odd.Laughing

Did any on catch the last epi with Zack?

Um, talk about reopening a door!  .... this show is getting way too weird

I wish they'd bring back some of the serious stuff they had in the first season .... as I mentioned earlier, this show is changing just like Crossing Jordan did ... at first a great serious drama with some light moments and an intriguing cast .. to slapstick romantic draumedy .... I hate it when a good show turns to fluff!  .... grrrrr

You must have been reading my mind

I was just thinking about posting something about the Zack stuff, too... I don't get it. I mean, I don't know why they are swinging it this way, but the scene in the diner was particularly weird, especially if they thought he really was a killer... I was shaking my head a lot. I liked the start, when Sweets was talking to him and telling him he was delusional, but then it all went weird, yes -- why aren't his friends worried? He's smart, but he's a little insane, right? Or supposed to be? I don't know.

I agree, it's gotten off track somehow... I don't know why. Didn't Boreanaz produce or direct that one? I thought I saw it in the credits, and maybe that's a mistake, to let the actors take over direction...

Also

All of the relationships seem so forced to me, too -- Angela and Hodgins, that break-up seems very forced, and they are really stretching keeping Brennan and Booth apart. Just get them together for crying out loud and keep it moving... it's all kind of awkward and gangly...

Diner scene ....

I agree Sam ... none of that made sense ...for a group of people who deal with horrific death, they sure were very nonchalent with supposed psychopath Zach ... hugging and patting him on the back ... huh?

did you notice though how much the actor who plays Zach has changed in appearance?  .... he's put on quite a bit of weight, esp. around the face .... I was thinking he has a predisone "moon face", which would indicate he's fighting an autoimmune disease ... if it was sudden onset this could explain why they wrote the final shows so way out there last season -- explaining an absense from the show  ... just speculating  ;)
