What are you reading now ~2~

For those of you new to the boards, this is the place to share with fellow readers the book you just picked up and have a hard time putting down...or the one you want to throw against the wall; the book you plan on starting tonight...or the one you've just finished and have added to your keeper shelves.

So, come on in and tell us -- what are you reading now? (And
please remember to list title *and* author so we can all find the book you're raving about!)

We're dedicating it to our very own Cathie Linz, who started us off in the first place, way back when eHarlequin first began having discussions for fans of romance.

Hey, I'm in the new room... cool!

Hi (and I hope that I get all of you!):

Margie, Cady, Sandi, Kathy D, Jeannie, Amanda, Tiffany ~ most of you, well all but Tiffany, I remember from last year.

Kathy, thanks for the welcome... and Margie I really like the idea of reading 5 books from my TBR.  I'm like you and I usually gravitate to the new books.

Ah well, right now they're being left behind too ~ I'm halfway through Lover Enshrined and OMG!  I cannot get through this book fast enough... well, I'm not getting through it fast at all.  By Saturday I hope *fingers crossed* that I have it finished.  It's soooo good ~ different, but good!
  So that's what I'm reading right now ~ #6 in J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Hi everyone!!  I am reading

Hi everyone!!  I am reading Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward, I had to put Darkest Night now so that I could read this one.  I will pick Darkest Night back up when I am finished. Hopefully I will get some reading in tomorrow along with my school stuff. I hope everyone has a great Friday Smile

Tiffany, are you all caught up in the BDB books?

I seem to remember you reading Lover Awakened awhile back.  What do you think of Lover Enshrined so far?  I'm nearly done and it's driving me crazy that I can't just sit and read.
I can go on the computer 'cause the kidlets play here beside me, but reading... that doesn't work so well.  Cry

Friday

I made it to the new room.  I hope everyone else makes it soon too!  How fun is it to have a new space.  Now we need decorating ideas, and of course room warming food!

I've been reading Before The Storm by Diane Chamberlain.  I've not felt the greatest the last couple of nights, so going to bed early instead of reading, but maybe I'll get in some good reading time this weekend.

Brian is on summer vacation, and I'm offering $5 a day for chores done that I've asked.  He can get a bonus for things he does on his own, or a really good job on the things I want done.  So far so good, but we'll see how this continues.  He also has to get up at 5 with me to take his pills, and there too he's batting 100%  so let's hope it continues.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Kalyko, yes I am all caught

Kalyko, yes I am all caught up with the series.  I am loving what I've read so far.  Hopefully I will be able to get some more reading in tonight and this weekend. I am going to try and put some time aside to read.

OMG!

Tiffany, I surely do hope that you get to finish LE soon, because, IMO, it was OUTSTANDING... and I'll be heading over to the SLATB room 'cause if I don't talk about it I think I'm gonna explode.

   Man oh man....

Friday 6/2008 (D-Day anniversay)

Hi Friends,

No computer at home yet!  Hopefully my computer tech friend will be able to come up on Sunday to install a new hard drive for me.  The old hard drive died and cannot be revived.  I am sorry to say I lost info I really needed/wanted, but thats life!  I will be so glad to have a computer at home again.  This week I am dog/house sitting and can use the computer here.  Yea!  It has taken me all week to get to the point that I could come to this thread & try to do some catching up.

Imagine my surprise when I saw we have a new room!  I read through a bunch of posts but my brain is to crammed with all that info.  Thanks to all that kept me in their thoughts & prayers.  Not everything is resloved but I am working on it.  Still wishing/hoping for some kind of miracle! Innocent

Kathy, I hope that the sale will go through on the company.  Keep us posted.  Netflix is the best and not that expensive although it maybe different in Canada.  I love it.  There are so many choices & the free trial will give you a good idea what it is like to belong. That is how I got started.

Sandi, it is amazing you got such a good deal on air fare to Chicago.  The prices for flying are going up & up!

Several comments were made about gas prices.  Here in the small town where I live I have seen $4.37 & $4.41 for regular!  Last time I got gas at Costco it was still under $4 a gallon.  I will probably fill up next week & I'm prepared to be shocked!   Everything is going up mostly due to the price of gas, so it is a vicious circle.

Since I haven't had a computer at home I have read a lot!  My books are all posted to the Challenge.  I'm glad to have been able to keep up with that.  It is hard to go to someone's house and use the computer like you do at home!  I'm on mine off & on all day.  It actually kind of broke my habit of spending so much time on the computer, maybe a good thing!! Smile

The most recent book I read was an older Katherine Stone, Island of Dreams.  It was pretty good, a bit confusing at times for me.

That is it for now.  See you all soon! Smile  Have a great weekend.

Take care, happy reading,

Friday night

Cady - I was watching So You Think You Can Dance and flipping to the game for the first 2 periods and then watched the 3rd.  It was a nail biter at the end

Mary - Can you believe the heat we're going to get?  I want to know where spring is?  We got it for what?  A week?  Absolutely crazy.  And I'll be out most of the weekend - ugh.

So my weekend is going to be crazy.  I doubt I'll be back on the computer until next week.  Amelia has her last day at lacrosse tomorrow.  I wasn't going to go, but they are giving out gifts afterwards and I thought she should get hers.  Then we have a year-end bowling party starting around 3 until whenever.  The girls will be happy - they can swim!  I thought Sunday would be better w/Aurora's soccer party postponed, but my gf called this morning and said she was doing a bbq for her son's b'day (which is today).  So I'm going there for awhile and then the girls have a 5:00 party at Nifty Fifties.  Love their shakes.  And on top of it, its going to be hotter than h*ll - mid 90's and humid.  Definitely not a fav of mine, let me tell you.  I have the feeling I'll be wanting to take a nap when I get to work Monday morningWink

Oh, my gf who called me today, called to tell me yesterday her dh called from work to tell her the building was on fire!  And when the fire trucks showed up - there was no water in the hydrant.  Had to wait for a water tankard to be brought in.  Suffice it to say, there is now no building.  No one was hurt, which is great.  It was also discovered it was an accident - some plumbing was being done, some piping caused a spark that raced up the wall and set off the insulation in the roof.  Scary stuff though.

I finished listening to O is for Outlaw by Sue Grafton.  I'm reading the same blaze and hope to finish it tonight.  We'll see.  I definitely won't be reading over this weekendFrown

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Amanda

Everyone can afford to give away a smile!

DFW Plus - Come see what we are reading!

Saturday

Hi everyone--

Amanda--This heat is unbelievable. I agree--what happened to spring? We actually cancelled our plans for today because we would have been out in this heat most of the day.

Donna--good to see you in here!

I finished reading The Cross Country Quilters. I'm really enjoying this series and this book was as good as the first two.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I am stuck inside because of extreme heat here so I will be doing some sewing and reading and vegging!

Hello Friends,

Not much activity since I was here yesterday!

Could someone please remind me how to add something to my Favorites list?  It has been so long that my mind is blank on how to do that! Embarassed

Since I have been without a computer at home I have made some inroads on older TBR books!  In fact I have been reading more because I wasn't spending time on the computer!!  Maybe not a bad thing!  Laughing

I finished reading the book I started yesterday, Stroke of Midnight an anthology of holiday stories.  A reminder of how magical the holidays can be!  I've posted it on the challenge if anyone wants to check it out.

Have a good evening & a wonderful Sunday.

Take care, happy reading,
Donna M, Dream Team member

Hi Everyone

Kathy K, Yes, I thought five was doable because I just want to read my new ones. Then the ones that I didn't get to, but really wanted to read, keep getting passed by a newer one. I don't have a big tbr so I could actually only have new to read soon.

Donna, There is usually a (ADD TO FAVORITES) button right next to the (ADD COMMENT) button. If there isn't one, then post something and when the message is displayed you will see both buttons.

I went to Recent Posts and saw that WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW had new comments but I didn't notice that in the My Favorites section. Then I realized that I had to add this to favorites again because it is a new room.

I haven't started a new book yet but I did finish FORGOTTEN MARRIAGE by Paula Roe. It is a Desire and I loved it. I was able to get my copy of LOVER ENSHRINED and now I have to decide if I want to read it or something else first. I'm a bit nervous about it after the conflict in the last book but so many are loving it. Maybe I'll read a couple of chapters to see if I'm in the mood for it.

Hope you all are enjoying your Saturday.
Margie :)

Kalyko, I just finished

Kalyko, I just finished Lover Enshrined and I absolutely loved it.  I could not put it down and I know I will be reading it again in the very near future Smile

I know!

Isn't it fantastic!?  I'm gonna be checking up on reviews now.  The only that I've caught so far is ElleJay's... I'm falling behind.  Undecided

So, after I read LE, I read the anthology No Rest for the Witches, then I read Jayne Ann Krentz's latest Arcane Society novel ~ Sizzle and Burn:  this series gets better and better as it goes along, but now I want to go back to the beginning and go through them again... along with re-reading the BDB books.

Right now, I'm reading Christine Rimmer's His Executive Sweetheart; I'm catching up on the Bravo Family Ties books that I hadn't read yet and yowza... it's excellent!

After reading Lover

After reading Lover Enshrined, I read The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter which I loved.  I can't wait to read the others in this series.  I am about to begin The Hollow by Nora Roberts.  I've heard some good things about this one and I can't wait to get into it.

Wow....

A new room!

Hi everyone!  Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend.  It's been busy here!  I did finish THE SHEIK AND THE PREGNANT BRIDE by Susan Mallery this weekend and I've started TAMING THE PRICE the next in the crown and glory series.

Hi Everyone

It's been a busy weekend so not a lot of reading but I did decide to start LOVER ENSHRINED by J.R. Ward. I am enjoying it but have a long way to go as these are very thick books.

Have a good Monday.
Margie :)

Monday June 9

Tiffany, I can't remember what series are you caught up with?  Did you have a chance to read over the weekend?

Kalyko, ahhh...we must be talking about the Ward books.  I still have to finish reading those.  I'm on the third book.  I really liked the first one, much to my surprise.  Book two was ok, and I just haven't found the motivation I think I need to read book 3.

Donna, sorry to hear that your computer is still ill.  Glad you have access so you can find our new home.  Pretty spiffy isn't it?  Continuing thoughts and prayers for you that things improve soon.  I really want to take Brian to Chicago too, but still don't know about summer school.  Can we spell frustrated!

Amanda, I think I'm exhausted just reading about all the parties.  How do you keep it all straight?  Never heard of Nifty Fifites...but I'm always up for a good shake!  Glad to hear that no one was hurt in the fire.  Will he still have a job?  Wonder why there was no water in the hydrant?  Hopefully that too is being investigated.

Mary, I really wasn't thinking when I got my car.  I really wanted dark gray, but totally forgot about the heat!  I should have gotten the white one!  Did you have a good weekend staying in and relaxing?

Margie, what did you end up reading?

Kalyko, did you know that the new Amanda Quick novel The Third Circle is also an Arcane book?

Tiffany, I listened to The Hollow, and I didn't like it quite as much as Blood Brothers.  I was able to be more distracted.  Someday maybe I'll listen again, as it's in my IPOD library.

Kate, did you have a good weekend?

I didn't do much of anything this weekend. I should have, but now that Brian is being paid to be my maid service I kind of let things go.  It will be interesting to see if he continues this week as well as he did last week.  I finished Before The Storm by Diane Chamberlain.  Once I finally decided to sit and read I couldn't hardly put it down!  Now I'm going to read Triple Exposure by Colleen Thompson.  I've only read a couple of chapters, and it's got really tiny print, so I'm not sure how it's going to go.

Hope that everyone has a great week!

Monday morning....

Sandi, I hadn't even realized that the Amanda Quick was out yet, never mind that it was an Arcane Society novel... I'm falling so far behind!
As for the BDB series ~ the third book was my initial starting point for my addiction to the Brotherhood.... *sigh*  and it just keeps getting bigger and better  ~ IMO.

I finished the Christine Rimmer book, His Executive Sweetheart, and I'm wondering if I wait for the next Sons of Caitlin Bravo story, or skip right over to the last in the sub-series... what to do, what to do?
So to give me time, I'm reading Janice Kay Johnson's The New Man right now.

Hi everyone, I hope

Hi everyone, I hope everyone had a great weekend.  My weekend was good, it was just a very hot weekend.

Sandi, I am caught up with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.  I read Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward over the weekend, which I loved and I read The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter.

Monday

All you BDB lovers, hope you are enjoying the newest Ward book.

Sandi - So is Brian still doing chores?  The kids are awful at it, my friends say I should make them help me more, but then it just takes longer to get it done.

Donna - Glad you were able to find a computer to use.  Gas prices have actually gone down a bit here - not substantial, but at least it is back under $4.

Amanda - Hope you survived the weekend, it sounded really busy.

Mary - Hope you are getting some cooler weather, we are still sticky, but not as hot.

Kayko - I loved that CR book, the h is so totally honest, just really worked for me.

Did no reading this weekend - no reason, just wasn't in the mood.  The weather here was yucky - we had a beautiful Friday night and Saturday morning and then the rains came - our area got almost 8 inches of rain over the past two days.  Luckily, we haven't gotten any in the basement, but I am definately knocking on wood.  Our friends that just redid their basement got some.  Yuck.  More rain predicted for today and tomorrow, but definately not as strong - no thunderstorms or tornados predicted.  Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Cady

Cady, I think that was a big part of the reason..

that I loved it so much as well.  And Caitlin... wow!  She's quite the mama... looking forward to learning more about her as well.

Monday Mid Day

I think today is going to be harder to get Brian to do chores.  I called and he was still asleep.  I said to call me when he woke up.  We'll see.  I might have to call again in a bit.

I have news!  A miracle occured at our house, and Brian ended up passing all his classes for the year.  He passed three of them by the skin of his teeth, but all that matters is that this horrible horrible year is behind us, and we can move forward in peace!  He has 18 of the 24 credits he needs to graduate.

a very hot Monday

Hi everyone--

Yes the heat is still here and not going away anytime soon. Frown I did stay inside most of the weekend except to make a quick run to the grocery store. I got an outfit done for Lauren and I read a very hot book--The Art of Desire by Cherie Feather (who is Sheri Whitefeather). It is erotic romance--very explicit language and sex scenes. It does contain two love stories and is very well-written. I enjoyed it. I will write more in my review which I am still working on.

Sandi--I did enjoy staying inside and relaxing but now I'm ready to get outside. Congrats to Brian!

Cady--the weather is supposed to improve by the end of the week but I'll believe it when I see it!

I hope everyone has a good week. I have not decided what I will read next.

Mary Cool

Monday night

Sandi - Congrats for Brian.  Glad you will be able to put this year in the past.  Also, its tough keeping the schedule straight.  This Sat. I have a bridal shower and a "slumber party" to go to.  The funny part is the girl having the party is who the shower is forLaughing

Cady - Eewwww, yuck on the rain.  I think I'd rather have the heat.  Hope it clears out for ya soon.

Mary - Glad you stayed in.  I was out most of Saturday and it was ugly.  Part of my Sunday plans got canceled, which meant I got to stay in more - yeah!

Did anyone watch the Belmont on Saturday?  I was at the end-of-year bowling party and you should have seen all of us trying to squeeze into Sandy's very small living room to watch.  I really thought this year we'd have a triple winner, but I'm glad he did what he thought was best for the horse.  Would have hated to think he'd end up like Eight Belles.

Well, I did no reading over the weekend, so I still need to finish Fire in the Blood by Kelley St. John.  Its part of the "Sexth Sense" (blaze) series.  I love the concepts of these books (the main h or H helps ghosts "cross over").  If you like a little paranormal, this might be a series for you.

Ok, off to go put Amelia to bed.  Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

Amanda

Everyone can afford to give away a smile!

Tuesday lunch

Margie ~  enjoying the new Ward?

Sandi ~  the weekend was nice, however, horriblly HOT!!  Hope you have continued success with Brian and the chores, also, congrats on getting passed this school year.

Kalyko ~  I, too, enjoyed HES.  C Rimmer is one of my favorites!  I think you'll enjoy those Bravos!

Tiffany ~  Hope your experiencing some cooler weather, it as cooled a couple of degrees here!

Cady ~  hope the weather is cooperating.  I saw some pix from Wisconsin Dells, how horrible!  We had some a Thunder and Lightning show last night and right in the middle of watching Nashville Star, too.

Mary ~  was wondering about the Cherie Feather.  I'll check out your reivew!

Have a great week, you all....

Gray, cold and rainy Tuesday...

Okay, I'm not really complaining... I sure as heck don't want HOT weather... but a little continuous sunshine and some warm temps would be nice for pete's sake.  Undecided
My problem with the gray, gray skies is that I feel so much like hidng away in my bed reading or sleeping... sure don't feel like getting out and weeding or exercising ~ both which need doing.

Ah well, for now I'll stay indoors and keep a little warmer ~ right now I'm reading Leslie Kelly's One Wild Wedding Night ~ yowza!  It's definitely living up to the review that I read last year... yum!

Kate, I basically stumbled on Christine Rimmer and her Bravo series, but I've stayed.  I'm really loving the complexity of the relationships between the many, many Bravos as well as their falling-in-love stories.  And what's even better is that it doesn't seem as though she's finished with them yet.  Even better!

Stormy evening

Hi everyone--

I've already been knocked off the internet once so I'm not staying on too long. We have been having storms off and on. I was going to post some reviews but will wait until tomorrow. Frown

Kate--If you are a Sheri Whitefeather fan you know her books are pretty hot. The Art of Desire goes beyond the Desires and other books she wrote. It is very well-written and I enjoyed it but it is erotic romance. She's an auto-buy for me so I took a chance on this book too. I will be posting the review tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Mary Smile

Kate, we haven't had any

Kate, we haven't had any cool weather yet.  Right now it is in the 90s but with the humidity it feels like 105.  Hopefully these thunderstorms we get will cool it down some.

I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday.  I am still reading The Hollow by Nora Roberts.  Hopefully I will be able to finish this one soon.

Twice in one day....

Wow, can you believe I made it back in tonight?

Kalyko ~ you're rigth, CR has got several more of those Bravos planned.  In fact, my first Bravo was HES, then I started backtracking for the others.  Even though I had some of her other titles, some how I had missed the Bravos.

Mary ~  I've enjoyed Sheri's Desires, was a little creeped by her first Bombshell, and have yet to read the second.  Still, I'd wondered about her latest and will check out your review.

Tiffany ~  It is cooler here today, so hopefully some of the cooler weather will head your way.  Infact, the high was about 10 degrees less than yesterday and we have TS both evenings...

Still reading EB's TAMING THE PRINCE.....

Tuesday Night

Hi Everyone,

Sandi, I did decide to stick with the Ward book. Book three was Z's book and I just had to read that one because I wanted him to be happy. I think that one is my favorite and a large part of that is the epilogue. Congratulations on Brian getting through a tough year.

Kathy K, I have the new Quick book and it was due back today! My bad. I started Phury's book so the Quick book got pushed back. I will have to pay a late fee but I am keeping it until Saturday.

Mary, I've been watching the news and I saw the heat in your area. They were showing that a lot of people are rushing to by AC's. It is really hot here too right now but not humid so that is a bit better. I love Sheri Whitefeathers older Desires. What line is this new book from? I saw that she has a SRS out July and I'm waiting for the discount code to order it.

Cady, This weather is really crazy, That is a lot of rain in a short amount of time. I hope you get clear skys real soon.

Kate, I am really enjoying the latest Ward. I was very hesitant in reading it only because of something that happened in the previous book. But I'm almost done and it is really great. Intense but great. I read Sheri Whitefeathers Bombshell and I understand why you were creeped so let me warn you that the second one is more creepy so you might want to skip it if the other really bothered you.

Tiffany, I have the first book in Nora's series but haven't read it yet. Other books just seem to be calling to me right now but I will be getting to it eventually as I love her books.

Well, like I mentioned, I am reading LOVER ENSHRINED by J.R. Ward and it is really engrossing. Lots of stuff happening with lots of different characters but not in a confusing way. Very well done. I hope to finish tonight and get to read the spoiler sections on this one.

Have a great Wednesday,
Margie :)

Wednesday morning

Hi everyone--

The storms are over for now and it is somewhat less hot and humid so far today. It should be a nicer day than the last several.

Kate and Sandi--The Art of Desire is a Berkley Heat book. It is more like her Desires and not at all like the Bombshells. I'm looking forward to her SRS book too! I am going to post my book review right now.

Mary Smile

INFO

Margie ~ thanks for the info on the second bombshell.  I'll give it some thought before I decide to pick that one up.  It may be one that sits in the TBR for years....

the second book, Pride & A Pregnancy Secret,  in the Diamonds Down Under mini-series (a loaner) and I've got the next two in my TBR, so I'll finally get the rest of this great series read.  Took long enough!

Right now I'm reading Kathleen O'Reilly's Beyond Breathless from the The Red Choo Diaries mini-series  and I'm really enjoying it.  Now I'm gonna have to look for the rest of the books in this series as well.  After BB I've got two more loaners, then I can start working on the other series books in my TBR.

Where is everyone?

It is really quiet in here. Just stopping by to say I read another of the Hamish MacBeth mystery series--Death of a Cad and enjoyed it. In fact I LMAO reading it! I am now reading Montana Red by Genell Dellen, a new to me author. It is good so far.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Hi everyone, I hope everyone

Hi everyone, I hope everyone has a great weekend!  I just finished When A Man Loves A Woman by LaConnie Taylor-Jones and now I am about to read Trust Me by Brenda Novak.

Saturday Morning

Good Morning Everyone,

We were having really hot weather but it has cooled off a bit. Yesterday,it actually got really windy in the late afternoon, which is normal for June.

Kate, I'm pretty sure you will be freaked by the second SW book if book one was creepy for you. I think Cady may have read these so she may have a different opinion on them.

I was bad. I didn't get to my overdue library book. I'm not sure if I will have time to read it now as I am leaving for the rest of the day. Hum? I might just keep it a bit longer.

Since last here, I did finish LOVER ENSHIRNED by J.R. Ward and really enjoyed it. Wow! Lots of questions were answered but it also created new ones. I can't wait for the next book.

Have a great Saturday.
Margie :)

(I'm a '13th' baby, so it's gotta be a good day, right?)

Anyway.... yesterday I got Kathleen O'Reilly's Beyond Breathless finished and then started, and finished, Kimberly Raye's Breathless... huh, I hadn't noticed the closeness in the titles before... or the names for that matter.
  Anywho....

Today I'm going to be starting Georgia Bockoven's If I'd Never Known Your Love ~ #5 in the now defunct (kinda) Everlasting Love line... I'd been looking for this one for over a year now.  But it's a nice day out, so not sure exactly just how much reading I'll get done...

Margie, I'm so glad that you finished Lover Enshrined... soooo whaddya think?  Hmmmm?

Hope everyone has a relaxing and/or enjoyable weekend!  Laughing

Greetings Everyone

For some reason it didn't hit me to CLICK on new room so it took me longer to get here... duhhh...

Kathy K - of course you read and loved Lover Enshrined ... you are the leading JR Ward fan we have here. I am waiting for a good coupon to get it.  I have 2 of CR's Bravo books in THE MTN.  I will get to them.   Glad to know they are worth it. I haven't read any of the recent Krentz books.  Which ones are the Arcane ones?

Sandi - contrats on Brian's passing all his courses and for getting the additional workload assistance.  DD is never home long enough to get work done... she just shops with mom and at moms... I have Head On and The Salt Maiden of Colleen Thompsons. I have not read them yet. Let me/us know how Triple Play goes

Amanda - sorry to hear about the fire.  At least nobody was hurt.  We just moved into a new building on the 3rd floor and have had 2 fire alarms - harmless but our dept was only ones to respond.  Others just walked back into the building or never came out.  Hope there never is a real one.

Donna -Still praying for your computer. You must be going nuts without one. I gave the DVD player to DD and live with DVR so do not have means to play movies. I have been enjoying seeing all the shows I have missed all these years due to my hours... I don't get home til 10- 10:30 PM.

Cady - sorry about all the rain. It can be both destructive and depressing.  We had a heat wave earlier this week and it cooled down some here on LI... today is really hot but I can hear the thunder coming in the distance.

Kate - I love Susan Mallery and have enjoyed all the books of hers I have read.  I'm not into Shiek books so have not picked up that set but have heard they are great.

I finished the Jordan Dane No One Lives Forever and found it quite good.  She put a lot of analogies I felt were too much but all in all the story was good and I would love to know what her next project is and when we can expect it. I am currently going into the TBR mountain and pulled Kimberly Raye's Dead Sexy.... gotta love a vamp that is a cowboy. LOL

The Rainy Season has started!

Yes, I know it's been hot in the Northeast.  But you don't know hot until you've spent a summer in Florida!  This week the rainy season finally started and now it's a steam bath!  I can look forward to temps in the low-to-mid 90's until October and the humidity builds each day until you think you'll go out of your mind.  Then one day in the middle of Oct., you'll get up and it'll be gone!  As a born and raised Pennsylvannian, I remember temps in the low 100's but they lasted only a week to ten days and when I lived in PA, I didn't have air conditioning!

So much for the weather.  I'm reading "A Veil of Roses" right now.  It's about an Iranian woman who comes to the U.S. to find a husband and escape the isolated lifestyle of women in Iran.  It's an unusual novel and I'll be blogging about it soon.  I have a lot to say about this story.

Mary~~My name is Trudy Miner and I lived in Spring Twp. from 1971-1989, first on Girard Ave (in the townhouses) and then on Amherst Ave (next to the entrance to the Lincoln Park Pool).  I taught French I at Gov. Mifflin Jr. High from 1987-1988 and then subbed for both Wilson and Reading School Districts.  My younger son still lives on Nicole Way and my ex and his wife live on Hyett Dr.  I worked at Lincoln Park Elementary in the cafeteria when my sons were in elementary school and I was president of the Chemical People of Berks Co (during the Reagan admin).  I miss going to the Apple Dumpling Festival at Owls Field and a real, true hoagie.  I drag my friends to the restaurant on top of State Hill Rd so I can get authentic PA chicken pot pie.  My sons learned to bowl at the bowling alley in Sinking Spring.  Maybe we met at a teachers' conference?  At least you know someone who knows where you live and what a pretty spot it is!Cool

Jeannie... the books in JAK's ARCANE SOCIETY series...

are, to date:

  1. White Lies (contemporary as JAK)
  2. Second Sight (historical as Amanda Quick)
  3. Sizzle and Burn (contemporary as JAK)
  4. The Third Circle (historical as Amanda Quick)

The latest of course is out in HC... meaning it'll be awhile before I can get my hands on it through the library and even longer before I get my pb copy... but after just reading Sizzle and Burn, I'm really looking forward to being able to read it.

Sunday

Hi everyone--

Trudy--It is cool that you know where I live. We do like it here but as you have seen I'm sure Spr. Twp. has become very crowded since we moved here in '87. I subbed at almost all the Wilson schools but never at Lincoln Park! We may have met in passing but it was so long ago...Undecided My dd graduated from Wilson in '93 so she is probably younger than your sons? She also bowled at the alley in SS and I did until this year. It's a small world! Btw, my youngest brother moved to FLA several years ago and he loves it! He gets cold when he is up here even in summer!

Kalyko--Friday the 13th was my dh's birthday and he was born on Friday the 13th as was my niece.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. We celebrated my dh's birthday and Father's day yesterday  with my dd, sil, dgd and mil. We had a nice day but today I'm tired!

I'm still reading Montana Red and enjoying it.

Mary Smile

I'm not reading right now

because I am too busy doing a happy dance all around the house.

I met J.R. Ward!  OMG!  She is fantastic!!

Hi by the way.... I've been lurking around on this thread but have been in a posting funk.

Meeting J.R. Ward....

Jill... wow! I'm totally envious... did you get her to autograph any of your BDB books?
I bet you'll live on that excitement for a while, eh?

Congratulations!

Mary, I really like my birthday... I'm one of those people that like to be a little different and my b'day works very well... not that I had any say in the matter, but still.... Tongue out

It's all I've talked about

and my family has no idea who she is.  I explained it as this... my ten year old nephew is a HUGE NBA fan.  I said it would be like him meeting Tim Duncan or Lebron James.  They were then like "oh wow, that is a really big deal".

I took the first three of the Brotherhood with me and had them autographed.  I will be seeing her again in September at Lora Leigh's RAW in Huntington WV where a bunch of authors will be and I will get the rest signed then.

My younger son graduated in 1991; the other one graduated in 1988.  Your dd may have known one or the other!  Since they put 222 through the middle of Berks County, I am totally lost (it goes right past my old home in Lincoln Park)!Cool

Hi Everyone

Jeannie, I was wondering why no one was posting in the new What Are You Reading Now. I couldn't find it then I realized that I had not added the new room to favorites. Maybe others are having the same problem.

Jillyan, Congratulations on your BDB signing!

Since last here, I did finish LOVER ENSHRINED by J.R. Ward and it was excellent. Then I read BARGINING FOR KING'S BABY by Maureen Child and I love that one too. I am now reading book two, MARRYING FOR KING'S MILLIONS and it is a friends book which I love to read.

Hope you all have a good Monday.
Margie :)

Sunday evening,

Hi everyone,

Belated thank-you Donna. Also wondering if your friend was able to come fix your computer for you today? Hope so.

Our last remaining sawmill recently closed. They've been in tough shape for awhile now, and were running with half their men layed off. Now they are all out of work, and they were the company our pulpmill got 40% of it's chips from...

A couple days prior to hearing who won the bid for our pulpmill(June 13th)...the sawmill up and announced they were closing at the end of day shift that day...which scared all the buyers for us...so now the companies with bids in for us want the chips guaranteed before they do any paperwork...obviously the judge doesn't have quite that much power...not sure what's going to happen now...except due to the sawmill closing indefinately, the judge has postponed deciding on anything for us till July 7th now.

Amanda, Hope all your parties went well. Did Aurora like her gift? That's terrible about the hydrant not having any water to put out the fire. Glad noone was hurt.

Cady, Like you, i found it so much quicker and easier, not to mention less stressfull, just to do the work myself. But you know what they say about hindsight...

Hope all who are getting really bad weather/storms, see a change to nice weather real soon!

Sandi, A Big congratulations to Brian for passing all his classes. Yay, what a huge relief for you and your dh.

Wow Kate, Twice in one day! Surprised Ok, i couldn't resist.Laughing

Hi Jill and welcome. Glad you came out of lurkdom. And "Lucky You" to have the opportunity to meet JRW in person!

Since here last i finished and loved book#3, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Hot, by Stephanie Rowe. I love the way she writes these, they are a hoot.

I've got two books i'm reading at the moment. Last Wolf Standing, by Rhyannon Bird, & His Mistress By Arrangement, by Natalie Anderson.

Monday June 16

Mary, I've gotten very lazy, and have taken to ignoring the Hareqluin site when I'm home.  It's just really different posting from my Mac to my PC at work, so I like to wait to be at work to post.

Tiffany, can't wait to see what you think of Trust Me.  I just got Watch Me the last one in the trilogy for review late last week.  I really want to read it, but it's not out til August, and I do have July books due first!

Margie, what do they charge per day for an overdue library book?  I tried a couple of times to renew things online, and thought I was successful and then would find out I had a fine.  I was so annoyed.  I talked to the library manager about it, and he did offer to override the fine, but I do know that the fines help buy new things. I just told him they needed to double check the online renewal to make sure it was clear whether or not it worked.  Glad you enjoyed Lover Enshrined.  I still need to catch up, so I don't have a copy yet.

Kalyko, did you like the Brockoven?  I don't think I've read that one yet.  I have or have read all the EL books.  I hate that the line is defunct.  I have been buying them in the Supers since they started releasing them there, but I haven't read one yet.

Jeannie, did you know that Dane has three books out now?  I'm not sure when there will be something else, but she does have three.  Isn't it great that a new author got three books out so quickly to help build her fan base?

Mary, I'm going to Chicago in July and today I noticed that it's about 30 degrees cooler there than here.  My mom picks on me for being cold when I'm there, but when you're used to 100's and you get 70's it's cold!

Jillyann, I so understand about being in a posting funk. I  go through those a lot more than I used ot. Hopefully you'll come out of lurkdom soon.  I read your blog about meeting Ward.  How cool was that!

Mary and Kalyko, my husband was born on the 13th of the month as well, but in July.  I don't think he'll have a Friday birthday for a bit.  He's a bit weird, so I'm sure he loves it when he has a Friday the 13th birthday.

Kathy, will continue to offer good thoughts and prayers for your community.  The not knowing has to be the worst!

Since I was here last I did finish Triple Exposure by Colleen Thompson.  I really don't know what I thought as it took so long to read.  I think I wasn't really in the mood, and then the tiny print was very off putting.  Now I'm reading Hard as Nails by Helen Kay Dimon.  It's 3 short stories that I think are focused around a construction company, and a house they purchased to refurbish.  I'm still on the first story...decided sleeping was better than reading.

Have I told you that I'm on a committee helping to plan a reader's conference in the DFW area?  It's going to be called Readers and Ritas(short for Margaritas) and will be in October.   I was really thrilled to be asked to help, and hope to learn a lot about what is involved in putting together a conference.

Hope that everyone has a great week at work!
