A MADARIS FAMILY NEW YEAR'S CELEBRATION!!!

To coincide with the reissue of the first four Madaris books, I'm hosting a special New Year's event where fans and readers can celebrate each of these wonderful stories. Brenda Jackson is one of the most popular and celebrated African-American romance authors. One of my personal favorites, I devour each of her releases with excitement, but the Madaris Family will always be a favorite series because that's were it all began.

Bring the celebration on.

Hi Wayne,

I read this book when it first came out. I enjoyed it but at such a young age, busy with my kids, I didn't really get into it. But since reading other books in the series, WOW! I had to buy the book again. I plan on starting it tonight.

Hi Arnita! It's been awile since I read it. I bought the book even though I have the older print. Maybe I will re-read the book too. Reading Slow Burn brought memories from Tonight and Forever.

Thanks for joining in the discussion. And we're discussing all four books that are being released so feel free to talk about any of them.

I have some general questions:

Which of the books is your favorite?

Who are your favorite hero and heroine?

What do you think of the new covers?

Which was your favorite of the old covers?

Wayne

Which of the books is your favorite? You know I always have a hard time choosing a favorite when it comes to the Madaris family. If I had to choose a favorite of the four listed above, I would say Dex with the secret baby theme which is a theme I love though Clayton and Syneeda were explosive and I loved Justin and Lorren story - see what I mean.

Who are your favorite hero and heroine? Choosing a favorite brother is something I can't do, but I have my favorites of the friends. I love Surrender with Ashton and Nettie. Also Fire and Desire with Trevor and Corinthians. There's also Nicholas in True Love. You know what you didn't ask me about those books so I will leave that alone. Seems I can't choose a favorite friend either.

What do you think of the new covers? I don't like the new covers much. Can't see the cover model. Too abstract. I'm thinking it really doesn't matter. Those books have been out of print for so long that they could have printed them without covers.

Which was your favorite of the old covers? Are we still talking about the 4 books listed. I need to check my shelf to answer that.

would have to say that my favorite hero and heroine out of the whole series is Trevor and Corinthians because he made sure that he got her back no matter what it took. If I had to pick out of the books shown above I don't think I could because I love them all.

Out of the old covers I think I like Fire and Desire the best and then it would be Whispered Promises.

Hi all,

I am a big Brenda Jackson Fan. However, I have not read any of the Madaris family books. I just got Tonight and Forever in the mail today, and look forward to reading it. I am looking forward to reading the series and discussing it with you all. I have read all the Westmoreland books, and Delaney's Desert Shiekh is my favorite.

Hi Wayne,
I posted a message earlier but I wasn't logged in so I don't know if it will be submitted so I'll try again I agree with you about Brenda Jackson, she is my favorite! Romance, romance romance!
Before I respond to your questions, I want to just say you are quickly becoming one of my favorite writers The question about the new book covers is of interest to me. I like the new book covers. I don't like the book covers where there is a picture. When Brenda describes a character I create a picture in my mind of what that person looks like I have my idea of what sexy is, and if there is a picture then I'm stuck with that image in my head. That tends to take away from my fantasy if the picture on the cover is not my idea of sexy. I hope she continues to create covers this way

Hey Wayne,
I can't say which Madaris books is my favorite because I love everyone of them and all of the other wonderful & exciting books Mrs. Brenda Jackson has written.

Hello Everyone,

I am excited about Harlequin reissuing my Madaris books! Justin. Dex, Clayton, Sterling, Trevor, Ashton, Uncle Jake and all the others will always hold a special place in my heart.

If you were to ask me what is my favorite Madaris Book I would say Tonight and Forever, Justin and Lorren's story, because it was my first and it inspired me to write all the rest.

Initially, I never intended to write but 5 books in the series - books on Justin, Dex, Clayton, Uncle Jake and Christy. But letters from readers encouraged me to expand the series to include friends of the Madarises like - Trevor, Trask, Sir Drake, Sterling, etc.

Thanks for making this family a truly special family for all of you!

Hi this is my first time on eharlequin Kimani. I love Brenda Jackson as well. I wanted 6months to go to NYC just to read Fire and Desire. This book is out of print and my sister would not let her copy go. I had to read it at her house. I looked forward to trevor and Cor. Story while I was reading Dexter's story, I just new there was going to be a book about those two. Fire and Desire was my best book out of the Madris series too.

Tonite and Forever was my 1st romance novel, 13 years ago. It is has been the standard that I judge all other romance novels by. It is still up at the top in my book. Mrs. J just keeps doing the darn thing.
I own all the original Madais books. I talk about this family like I am apart of it. I think it will forever be my favorite family.

It's so hard to pick just one. So of course I am going to be difficult

Which of the books is your favorite? Eternally Yours, Secret Love, Whispered Promises, Something to Celebrate (seeee...ok let me stop b4 I listed all of them lol).

Who are your favorite hero and heroine? Clayton, Uncle Jake, Dex, Syneda, Felicia

What do you think of the new covers? I likey

Which was your favorite of the old covers? Eternally Yours, Fire and Desire

I finished reading Tonight and Forever last night, and I found another family to love. I felt Lorren's pain. Its so sad how we allow other people to have so much power on our self-worth I fell in love with Justin when he saw through Lorren's humorous attempt to scare him off with her affair demands.

The Westmoreland family still holds a special place in my heart. But, my heart is big enough to include the Madaris family I can't wait to see how Syneda hooks the infamous playboy Clayton. I can't resist it when a playboy is tamed

I love Brenda Jackson because all her characters are realistic and their circumstances so believable.

The Madaris family is one my favorite series and my favorite book out of the whole series has to be Fire and Desire because that was one of the first books that I read by Ms. Jackson. After reading the first book I was hooked!

I read Whispered Promises over the weekend again and of course I loved it especially since Dex is one of my favorites.

acocopuff-I think you will love the Madaris family and they are one of favorite families to read about.

We're in our new home and

We're in our new home and I've tried to copy as many of the comments as possible for the old discussion...

So, we can feel free to continue here.

What's Next?

Wayne - What's next on the discussion for the Madaris family?

I took a look at my old book covers and I think I like One Special Moment and Whispered Promises.

Ok, sorry for not

Ok, sorry for not responding quicker, but I'm here.  ALWAYS A KNIGHT was submitted so I'm free until the next one.

Madaris Series

Yes I love this series.  Now all the new people get to enjoy the series with a book coming out every month.  So they do not have to wait on pins and needles for the next book like the rest of us in the past. Laughing

TammyO  I know exactly

TammyO

I know exactly what you mean.  People often complain about reissued, but don't realise there is a new generation of readers who needs to be introduced to the author or may discover the author and want her/his back list.

Wayne

This is one re-issue that

This is one re-issue that makes complete sense. Even though I have all the books in the series, I know many who don't and have been wishing searching looking hard for them. I bought the first reissue, but I really don't know why. I don't have room for it on my shelf. Brenda's has one shelf of her own on my 5 shelf bookcase and it's already overfilled.

I'll probably give it away as a door prize at my next book club meeting.

Daniel's Time

Now that you have submitted Always a Knight I know it has to be Daniel's time, right? Kiss

DANIEL'S TIME

Yes, I star CHASING RAINBOWS on 1st February 2008.

I'm using January to do some reading...

ETERNALLY YOURS

The third Madaris reissues goes on sale this month and is another one of my absolute favorites of the Madaris series. ETERNALLY YOURS features Clayton Madaris and Syneda Walters.  This story is a emotionally intense one that will make you laugh and cry.

I just finished Whispered

I just finished Whispered Promises and am not reading Solid Soul.  I can't get enough of any of the Families.  I wonder has Mrs. Jackson ever thought about crossing some family lines.  A Madaris with a Westmoreland?  Could be very interesting!!Kiss

~ Arnita ~

Arnita2008 - She has

Arnita2008 - She has actually. I think it was a a Westmoreland/Steele mix she has talked about. I'll have to go back and look. There's a discussion on her yahoo group and I think in one of her old newsletters.

Is this the first time you are reading the Madaris family? The Madaris men and their friends are wonderful. Kiss

I find myself buying these

I find myself buying these books and I have the older versions. Initially I was going to give the first one away to introduce someone to Brenda. I haven't. Embarassed

Wayne - Yes, Clayton and Syneda are something else. While the other two brothers' stories touch of some emotional issues, Clayton and Syneda were more two very stubborn people who were strongly attracted to one another. That can be a explosive situation as was the case with these two.

Thanks Star,  I will have

Thanks Star,  I will have to look for the stories.  I may have them myself.  No, I read one of her books some time ago, but didn't really give it much thought.  Over the years, I picked up one or two(from others) but still didn't really grab onto the writing.

Now that I am older, I can really enjoy her writing.  I am totally hooked.  I have to read them all!  I read them and put them up.  i share all my books but hers.Kiss  And yes, them men are something else!  Can I find a man like that?  I guess not, cause if I did, the hubby might get alittle mad. LOL

~ Arnita ~

Did anyone else get a copy

Did anyone else get a copy of Forever Mine? I finished Sweetest Taboo last night and it was great!!! Now I am reading Perfect Moments. I am saving Cupid's Bow til last since I have already read that one.

I finally shared a book with a friend. My coworked bought Whispered Promises so I gave her Tonight and Forever to read.

Forever Mine...

Star

I'm going to have to buy mine later.  All of my funds went into my ticket and registration fees for Slam Jam so I'm easing off my buying for a while.

wj

Well we certainly want you

Hi I bought forevermine too

I bought my book but had some issues with pay pal paying Brenda's book store twice and then on top of that they did not know what I order.  Most of it was my fault, computer dumb.  But I hope to receive my copy soon.  I look forward to it.  What is this about Slam Jam.

Give God thanks in all things.

Romance Slam Jam  I have

Romance Slam Jam

I have attended two RSJ conferences and enjoyed them both. It's held in a  different state each year and I have met many of my favorite authors and discovered some new ones.
