The Missing "O" with C.E. Murphy

According to one source C.E. (Catie) Murphy began her writing career when she ran away from home at age five to write copy for the circus that had come to town. You would think she might remember this, but her own earliest memory regarding writing is from age six, when she submitted three poems to a school publication. The teacher producing the magazine selected (inevitably) the one she thought was by far the worst, but also told her--a six year old--to keep writing.

A born Alaskan, Catie has relocated to her ancestral homeland of Ireland. She lives in County Cork with her husband and several pets.  Her hobbies include walking, photography, sewing and with any luck, scuba-diving.

Readers are invited to visit her website and her blog.

First post

I'm first!  LOL

Still looking around and getting comfy with the new look.Kiss

woooow...

Wow, isn't the new site shiny and pretty? Happy New Year and Happy New Site!

Boy, have I got a lot of news!

It has been a very, *very* eventful year so far! (and you must keep reading until the end, because I'm saving the best bit for last!)

First, I've posted a teaser for HOUSE OF CARDS, second in the Negotiator Trilogy, which is due out in March 2008.

Second, I was interviewed by the League of Reluctant Adults a few weeks ago. The League is discussing HEART OF STONE as their January Book Club book. If you'd like to participate, go hang out there over the next few weeks. :)

Third, (it never ends!): I've received the cover for THE QUEEN'S BASTARD, which is due out in May 2008. I luff it! Check it out!

Fourth, and finally!

I am *utterly* delighted to announce that I have sold my pet project, "TAKE A CHANCE", the comic book I've been working on over the last three years. TAKE A CHANCE is the story of a woman who loses her son to gang violence and turns vigilante to save other children, and will be produced by Ernst Dabel and Les Dabel of the Dabel Brothers (for those who are also Jim Butcher fans, these are the guys producing the Dresden Files comic!)

The first issue ought to be on the shelves in May, we hope, and I am just *beside* myself with excitement over this whole thing. This is the culmination of years worth of work and hope, and I hope you'll all find yourselves rushing out to the comic shop to buy copies. *grin*

So anyway, happy new year to all! I hope 2008 treats you well!

There are no immediate

There are no immediate plans to release any of my books in mass market, I'm afraid.  Believe me, when the decision is made to do that, I'll shout it from the rooftops!

THE QUEEN'S BASTARD--May 2008!

Wow!  That's so

Wow!  That's so exciting!  Your teasers are awsome, I love this new series (not that I didn't love the other one!)

Do you know how wide a release the comic is going to be?  I have a pretty good local comic store, but it's still small.  Should I expect to order it online or do you think it will be pretty widely available?

Yay for more Catie

Yay for more Catie books.

 And comics!

Writing is like a drug. Anyone who tells you it isn't is trying to sell you something more addictive. Like crack.

comics distribution

It should be in fine comic shops everywhere--it'll be distributed by Diamond, so there shouldn't be any problems getting it.  And when solicitations go out, I'll post here and tell everybody to run to their comic shop and put in an order! :)

*hugs to everybody*  Thank you all for being cool. :)

HOUSE OF CARDS--out now!
THE QUEEN'S BASTARD--May 2008!

Catie, That's wonderful

Catie,

That's wonderful that you've sold 'Take a Chance'!

Can't wait for 'House of Cards'!  Did you know that when it was originally put on bn.com, it was posted with the picture of Guardian of Honor and listed as a reprint?  I was going to pre-order it in early Dec and noticed that- passed the info to my store mgr and we agreed it best to wait in case the ISBN was wrong. (it's fixed now)

I really enjoyed Heart of Stone- so much so that I didn't put it down and finished it in one evening!  Then again- I love LUNA books- I have all but two published so far... your books are some of my favorites!

And I noticed that someone mentioned not buying trades, totally a personal preference. I really love softcover trades, far more so than mass markets.  The spines have held up tremendously better than mass market paperbacks.  I've never liked the price- but I've grown accustomed to it as I've been buying Christian fiction for years, and it's rare to see a mass market in that genre (aside of Love Inspired and etc).

Gorgeous cover for 'Queen's Bastard' by the way- can't wait to pick that one up either!  The guys I work with know as soon as a new LUNA title appears- I'm first!  LOL

Congrats again on selling your pet project.  Your books have provided much entertainment an flights from Alaska to the east coast and through my husband's last deployment.  Great books always provide me with sanity!  Hope each new book is more of a success than the last!

PS- forgot

Catie- where in Alaska are you from?

"Don't be afraid; just believe." Luke 8:50

*blinkblinkblink*

Flights to and from Alaska?! Where are you stationed?  I was born in Kenai, went to college in Fairbanks, and lived in Anchorage until moving to Ireland a couple years ago. :)  If you're at Eilson let me know (via private message or email, if you prefer) and next time I go to visit the in-laws we'll have lunch!

I'm beside myself with excitement over the Chance project.  I've been working on it for...five years, in the longer term, but two years in a really active sense, and I can hardly believe it's actually happening. I can't wait to show people the first pages, and man, I hope I can find a way to reach my Luna readers to let them know about it, because it's another story with a strong female protagonist doing crazy things, and that seems to appeal. :)

Bahah.  I can't wait to see people's reactions to THE QUEEN'S BASTARD...it's a *very* different kind of book, full of sex and politics and much more flowery language than I use in the Negotiator or Walker Papers books, and I *love* it, myself.  It's a big change for me artistically, and I hope people like it as much as I do. :)

I knew there were problems with the images, yeah.  I think it's all fixed now, but what a bother. Oi. :)

HOUSE OF CARDS--out now!
THE QUEEN'S BASTARD--May 2008!

Re: *blinkblinkblink*

Such a bummer- we left Fort Wainwright, AK (Fairbanks) in July and after a detour to the east coast (b/c the Army thought VA was on the way to WA) we finally made it to the northwest in late Oct.  I still have friends there and may go visit- I'll touch base with you and see if you're in the area.  I miss the beauty of Alaska, but I can guarantee you that I'll never miss the 40 and 50 below 0 temps!!  LOL

After your comments on 'Queen's Bastard' it makes the wait that much more unbearable.  I enjoyed 'Heart of Stone' more than the Walker papers- there was just so much going on, a lot of adventure in one book; but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the Walker papers because I have and can't wait for the next!

It's a shame they couldn't add a tag to the end of the last page of one of your upcoming books about your Chance project (I'm certain it's conflict of interest for publishers.)  Best place to 'shout out' about it would be a separate forum topic here and your website.

Best of luck to you and yours.  Hope you have a wonderful week!  ~Kimberly

Amazon

Amazon just blitzed me with three emails about the Queen's Bastard over the weekend, so I figured I"d let you know!  I don't preorder from Amazon since my BN always has your books out a few days early (and thank goodness for that) so I'll get it there, but I thought you might be interested to know that anyone who favorably rated your other books probably got a few emails about your newest one.

Oh!  That's really

Oh!  That's really awesome!  Thanks for letting me know! :)
