A lifelong dreamer, Jodi Lynn Copeland grew up on Michigan’s farmland, surrounded by the open country and plenty of fresh air.
She began her first novel—a very gritty, very poorly written romantic suspense—in 1996. After nearly a dozen stories of varying lengths and dozens of rejection letters, Jodi sold her first novel, a contemporary erotic romance, in 2003. Since that time, she has written more than thirty stories, almost all of which have thankfully found a home, found her own true hero, and added two wonderful children (who have an uncanny habit of doubling as sarcastic little monsters) to the blessings that fill her country home.
Jodi is published in every subgenre of erotic fiction, as well as straight contemporary romances. For Harlequin, she writes contemporary and paranormal erotic fiction for SPICE and SPICE Briefs. To learn more about Jodi and her books, visit her Web site http://www.jodilynncopeland.com/

Hmmm ...
so WAS it Brian or not? .... I was so looking forward to the "confrontation"
I wish Karen would have called Brian and at least talked to him, maybe laugh and say she thought she seen him planting a big one on a leggy brunette ... now she's suffering her insecurities and her imagination is going crazy

Is he alone?
Is he alone, or will they decide that threesomes are his fantasy and decide to try it? Too early in the story for her to storm out and never look back...
Gosh I hope this doesn't go
Gosh I hope this doesn't go south by way of threesome. I reallllly feel like getting sick when two people in "love" decide to introduce something like that especially when one (in this case Karen) is definitely heartbroken at the thought of him with another woman. I just want a huge confrontation. I think I may know where this is going...I don't know if you guys have read the synopses for the books that follow this one...but it seems like Brian's big secret is of the supernatural variety. And that Karen's "best friend" there is also of that nature...seems like everyone is keeping secrets from the poor girl!
Quiet and then heavy breathing
What is going on? I'm also wondering if it has something to do with being supernatural.
I don't want to believe that Brian is such a bastard that he is cheating on Karen right before their wedding, so I'm giving him the benefit of doubt right now.
Jodi, you are torturing us with this weekly read.
Hello & Thanks!
Hi everyone! I wanted to drop by and say thanks for checking out Hot and Wild. I was thrilled when eHarlequin asked me to write this sexy short for their site. Of course your comments having me itching to spill but wouldn't that just get me in a mess of trouble?
I think when all is said and done most will be happy with the outcome. I'd love to say all, but to each their own as we all do know so well. And now what fun would it be without a little torture, Cathy?
I do love me some scene hooks!
Wishing you all a wonderful early Memorial Day for those in the States or anyone else who might celebrate it. We are heading north for six days and I cannot wait. I am so overdue for some R&R....which will happen when I hand one small child over to my mother and the other little older small child over to my father. God bless grandparents.

I haven't tried Spice...
I read a couple of erotica books that were just too far over the edge for me. I'm sorry, but I don't want to read about threesomes. It's not romantic to me. I like a sexy story, but I want it to be straight sex between one man and one woman who end up making a commitment to each other. Can anyone tell me if the Spice books push those boundaries like other erotica out there? Or are they a little more mainstream, more romantic, since they're published by Harlequin?
Amanda

OMGGGG I don't know if I
OMGGGG I don't know if I can wait an entire WEEK! lol I hate cliffhangers
I've read a few spice briefs, and those that I did didn't have a typical HEA...more like a whole bunch of sex and the possibility that he will call her later, or that they should do it again sometime. But that could just be the few I read. I've been tending to stick to Blaze since those can be steamy but always have the romance element. I would also caution you (just caution, mind you) about the author Megan Hart. I've done some research and she is, from what I understand, a very popular writer of erotic fiction, but from what I have read and spoken to others about they don't have very much happiness in them and I don't think they always have romantic happy endings. Plus they often deal with people with deep problems and can be gut wrenchingly emotional (i.e Dirty or Tempted which is about that dreaded threesome you and I aren't fans of! and some others have threesomes too). So I think if you are looking for erotic romance that has a happy ending and isn't really dark, like I am, this may not be the route! Anywho maybe the ladies on here have some help for us and can tell us where we can find steamy stuff that has happy, romantic outcomes! The compilations that Jodi's work is included in (I am seeing them above me as I type lol) seem like they might have a romantic bent to them...maybe Jodi can give us a hint?!
Arrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I REALLY want to know what's going on! What/who's in the shower? What's the deal with Brian? What about the girl Karen thinks she saw him with? I want answers NOW!!!!!
It SOOOOOO sux that this is a weekly story!
Great job in keeping me in suspense, Jodi!

Ladies, keep in mind, Spice is mainstream erotic fiction,
not category Romance with more sex.
Spice has a wide range of editorial with something for
everyone. Some titles are very much in
line with the h/H ending in a committed relationship and some are not. Unlike category Romance that focuses on the
developing relationship between the h/H Spice focuses on the woman's journey to
find what works for her in life. At
some point in every woman's life her journey may lead to committed romance, it
might lead to good sex and sometimes it leads back around to her finding
herself among the remnants of previous baggage.
Also, be realistic in comparing Spice Briefs to full-length
Spice novels. Comparing 15,000 words to
90,000+ is like comparing the smallest tart key lime to a big honking
grapefruit. Even that grapefruit may
range from a tangy juicy yellow with bitter spicy undertones to a big candy-sweet ruby red. It is what makes life,
and fruit, so much fun!
I hesitate to suggest
titles, as what I like may not be what you like. For instance, I would always
pick up a Megan Hart novel if I were looking for a good read. My suggestion would be to study the
backlist, read the descriptions and excerpts to find individual titles you may
enjoy.
Happy reading,
Nixie
Sorry...
My DragonNS is adding odd formatting.
Bad George!
Nixie
Maybe...
A dirty shower or an inflatable friend to keep him company the night before?
Nixie- It makes sense that
Nixie- It makes sense that a brief would be more about an individual encounter and not include much about the future of the relationship, since it is a "brief" lol...the couple that I got as ebooks at once, I figured they might still have some romance, but I see why they all might not!
And, I have been tempted many times to try a Megan Hart book, and have read probably a hundred reader reviews and I know me....I once read a book that literally made my heart hurt for days afterwards (actually there were two). I guess I am more sensitive than I thought, but I never want to feel that way again! Just a personal preference. It is great that she can touch readers in that same way (as many of them said the same about Megan) but I don't think I can handle something that heavy when I am looking for an escape! Hot and steamy with an ending that leaves me feeling better than when I started is my cup of tea!
Thanks for your advice!
Oh man, now I am thinking about the two books that literally ripped my heart out...lol ehhh I am glad I can't remember the title of the one and avoid all books by the author of the other (which stinks because she did write some ones that I liked prior to reading the heartbreaker). I guess I get too involved with my characters!
I forgot to say
what I think is in the shower...
Absolutely nothing!
The horror and disgust come from the fact that she realizes she just zigged left when she should have zagged right, thus giving the alleged hoochie a chance to get out the front door.

Back Again
I can't recall if I said so, but I was on vacation last week. Which honestly I ended up working part of the time, as I just can't seem to actually get away no matter how hard I try. The bummer is I was working on icky day job stuff. And the bummer too is I was hoping to be around to tease a little about what was in the shower. :)
So what did you all think about Karen's reaction? Personally I may have done the same. I do not love those shower crawlers. In fact, they are about the only thing that really creeps me out. Big enough to be nasty and small enough you can feel them crawling on you but not always see them to know where. Ew! Gives me a shiver just thinking about it.
I hope you all had a great Memorial Weekend, if you celebrate it. The weather wasn't so great--rainy and cool--but otherwise it was a very nice lake-side escape with my two little girls and lots of other family.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS... AFTER DARK, Spice ~ 5/09
About Those HEAs
As was noted, Spice novels can have HEAs and then they don't need too. I honestly need an HEA in my stories. However, I also know that with the shorter ones that might not mean a long-term HEA. That both parties may not be happy when all is said done. With Spice it's the heroine who has to have the HEA. I have only published one Brief so far, but will most likely do more in the future. The one I did do, Hot For It, does not have a traditional HEA. But there is a reason for this. It's because the story can be a stand alone, but it's also a prelude to my story in the first What Happens In Vegas anthology. In the start of my Vegas story, Hot For You (notice the Hot trend? :D), the novella starts out with the hero and heroine somewhat estranged. Hot For It is the story of how they become that way.
I have read some of the other Spice titles, but not a ton of them. This is just due to lack of time, as I really am struggling to get it all in these days. Hope to change that soon! I much prefer the ones that have a strong HEA and a good/great plotline to accompany it. But I also know many readers who pick up the Spice novels in the hopes of finding erotic fiction, which is why Spice offers both erotic romance and erotic fiction. Fortunately most of the blurbs hint at if there will be a happy ending. Also, a lot of times an author's website can give a clue to such. And you can always write the author in advance, as well. I am sure most (all) would be happy to give you a hint without giving away the story.

Spice Threesomes
Hi Amanda! I just read your question on threesomes. I know of several Spice Briefs (ironically both of the new ones out now) that involve a threesome, but it's clear that it is such on the cover and in the blurb. I have to think that it would be quite implicit, as it's the kind of thing that can tip a reader's scale if they are unsuspecting. That said, the majority of them don't feature threesomes.

Hmmm
The spider. Did he flush it, or did he wrap it in tissue paper and put it in the trash can? I'm wondering if the brunette was some sort of dark paranormal creature. Are they ever spiders? I don't read too much paranormal stuff, so I don't know for sure. Just a thought.

Okay, I just have to say this...
I am totally lost! Just when I think I've got an idea of what's going on it changes.
I thought he was a shape shifter with the heavy breathing and moaning being a reaction to going from one form to another, now all that nibbling seems to suggest vamp.
I have to admit to reaching the point where ordinarily I would plan to stay up all night reading or if I can't remain awake just go to the back page. Yes, I do that! I still enjoy finishing the book.
AAgghhh, this is why I hate online reads, I usually wait until the chapters are all posted so I can read straight through, or cheat
Jodi, you're keeping me honest.

OK, Brian's looking guilty again...
and I hate that. I'm not into the behind-the-back cheating thing at all. I'm hoping it's a total misunderstanding. I'll just have to wait until next Monday, I guess...
OTOH, I thought the scene prior to that little revelation was H.O.T. :-)

what he says.

Bitten
April, Yeah, he did bite her, but I wonder if it was a BITE or a bite, more like a nibble? Hmmm. It did say it would leave a mark that would last for several days. I was thinking more in terms of a hickey, but a hickey isn't a bite. So, do you think he left teeth marks on her?
Jodie, I'm with you. I don't like cheating.
Northwind, whether we'll like the answers remains to be seen. I'm trying to remain optimistic, but he is behaving rather guiltily.

You are leaving us hanging, again!
I hope we will like his answers next week. I'm with the others -- I don't like cheating and threesomes. With so much biting and being insatiable, I can't help wondering if he is indeed a Vamp. Has he just mated Karen for life with his biting? What about the woman Karen saw him with? Was she the spider in the shower? Questions, questions, and more questions...
Well, that explains

I'm guessing....
Brian's parents have a problem with their child being a werewolf. Either that or they didn't want him to leave the safety of home, with the possibility of being 'discovered'. Interested in Karen's response!

Wow
I didn't see that one coming... a furry four-legged animal. I had a feeling it had to be something supernatural, but I just wasn't prepared for that one. Hmm I wonder if his sister is a shape-shifter too...? Thanks for the great story Jodi Lynn.
Trice
A book is a treaure.
Don't understand why he
Don't understand why he wouldn't tell her about his sister -- especially after she said she saw him. They are getting married and shouldn't have major secrets from each other. Additionally, he should have told her about himself before they got married, voluntarily, not because she confronted him.
She jumps to conclusions but he doesn't say much. They are both at fault but he so much more. They are getting married in a few hours -- or at least supposed to be -- and yet he's kept so much from her -- not a good way to start a marriage.
I also don't understand Brian
Why did he keep his sister a secret, and lied to Karen at first when she confronted him about what she saw and heard? Does all of his family have secrets like that?
I have a feeling that Brian had a huge struggle with himself after Karen left him, loving her as he does. I think it would be very hard to admit that you are not normal to anyone; especially someone you love. if you are afraid of losing them, it's better to find out before marriage rather than after. If they can't accept what and who you are, then they are probably not worthy of your love to begin with.
At least he has finally told and shown her the truth about himself. I'm sure it's a big shock for her, but because she does love him, I think that everything will turn out well. Will they postpone their wedding next week (while she sorts everything out what he has told and shown her), or will they go through with the wedding on the day it was planned? I am betting they will decide to go through with their wedding.
It's going to be so hard to wait to find out the answers next Monday.
UGH
That's too big a secret to keep especially since they were engaged & sleeping together. When was he going to tell her when she got pregnant?

OK, well...
I wasn't expecting THAT. Lets him off the cheating hook, but hangs him out to dry on the lying one! Can't wait to see how Jodi handles the next chapter...but I don't want to wait! I should've waited 'til the last chapter before I started reading, LOL.
