Behind Closed Doors.

Candlelight, soft music, and a nice wine,
  chocolate, pastries, those really fatty
ice creams that you just know are going
to go straight to your thighs...

These things are considered guilty pleasures, and for me, great erotic fiction is like that, a not so secret, not so guilty indulgence.

I love reading it and I like discussing it. How about you?

Tell me what you love about erotic fiction.

And remember, despite the adult content of the books, let's keep the language clean.

Add some SPICE to your life.

On the subject of Spice....

The girls at work always find a way to make me blush!  This is usually a good topic!  LOL  I read about hot intimate moments but my face turns bright red to talk about it!  Crazy huh???  Laughing  Anyways, what do I like about erotic fiction?  I think the fantasy part!  Being just a little (or a LOT) naughty is in the back of everyone's mind!  Ok Now I'm blushing!  LOL  EmbarassedLaughingEmbarassed

Blushing

I've got to tell you hun, having known you how many years now... I find the thought of you blushing kinda funny. I'd never have thought it.

Why I love writing/reading Erotic Fiction?

One of the things I love about erotic fiction is that the relationship doesn't stop at the bedroom door. Readers get to see the relationship as it develops on all fronts - intimate, personal, public and romantic.

That's why I started writing Erotic Fiction and Erotic Romance. I got tired of the door closing on the bedroom as if sex isn't a part of a relationship and how it develops and grows.

re:Blushing

LOL  Lorie!  If you only knew!  I have the worst time with this subject!

Very true Angeleque and I

Very true Angeleque and I know that sometimes a person's sexual history is a big part of what makes them who they are and I like to see that reflected in a story.

No worries Julz, hang around here long enough and we'll cure you of that.

history and experiences of characters

yeah I agree. That's why I have a sexual history - past experiences, first experience, last time, favorite positions that I include in my character sketches.

you can learn alot about a character when you delve into their sexual past and figure out their favorite postions

delving

You can at that.

its fascinating. I started

its fascinating. I started it as a bit of fun info for my characters but then it evolved from there and showed me a lot about their characters - why this position and not that one? what it says about them?

positions

You know it does. It can show whether they're trusting or not, for one.

trust

yeah - that's why a sexual profile works and it helps in the story cause you get to use the reasons why and up the ante and put their needs/reasons/comfort zone at risk if you threaten/twist these needs during a sex scene.

I just started reading

I just started reading erotic novels last year.  My favorite authors are Emma Holly and Lora Leigh.  These stories are so sexy and well written, who could resistWink

Erotic Romance Authors

I like Emma Holly and Lora Leigh too.

But three authors who are becoming my favorites are Kimberly Kaye Terry, Megan Hart and Eden Bradley. And all three have Spice Briefs out.

Thanks

AngelequeFord ~ I have read and enjoyed a short erotic story by Megan Hart. I will definitely read the other two authors you suggested.  You can never have to many good authors to choose from.

Never too many

Hi Acocopuff. I agree, the more the merrier.

Acocopuff- if you liked

Acocopuff- if you liked those, you could also try "Cain's Reckoning" by Sarah McCarty and "The Blonde Geisha" by Jina Bacarr. Good reads, both!

Tasty

Indeed they have.

New Authors

I'm finding I really like Shayla Black as well.  She comparative with Lora Leigh and writes a really good story.  Another author I like is Ann Cory.

I never really thought of authors having to write up a sexual profile for each character.  That would make sense though, the more I think about it!

Hey Julz

Yes, talented authors all.

What I love about erotic fiction

The thing I love most about writing erotica is the freedom to play.  One can write a romance between two characters, but the hot threesome who lives next door can also be part of the story.  The ending is not necessarily happily-ever-after (though I confess I prefer that kind of ending).

I particularly like erotica that doesn't take itself too seriously and that isn't afraid to admit it's designed to arouse.

Hi Victoria

Amen to that Victoria.

I'm all for a great story, I'm all for erotic tales. I'm happiest when the two are blended.

And yes, sometimes I read erotica just for the sex.

any recent good reads?

I'm looking for recommendations.  Anybody read anything new lately, that they loved?

I read across the boards Victoria.

I've enjoyed all of the Spices I've read so far, not sure I could pick a favorite. I read a lot of paranormals, and have just finished Rogue, the second in the werecat series by Rachel Vincent and next in my TBR pile is Catch a Mate by Gena Showalter. Her book Playing With Fire was a fast and fun read if you haven't read it yet.

It's not a long read, but

It's not a long read, but I'm quite enjoying "The Tao of Sex" by Jade Lee (Extreme Blaze).

Lauren ~ Oh, I've heard that was good. I think it's in my TBR pile... of course, you should see my TBR pile, it may take me a bit to find it.

Yeah, it's like nothing

Yeah, it's like nothing Blaze has done before- which is their tag line, I believe. I hope they continue with the Extreme :)

I forgot I have that!  Got a whole box of books, took out the Spice and forgot the stack of Blaze!

Nixie

I just finished the Blaze

I read a lot of paranormals as well. I have a special affinity for sexy vampires but I've enjoyed almost every book I've read in the Nocturne line. I also just finished the Blaze extreme Shameless. Great read. Just a few more steps over and it could have been a Spice.Wink

I'm sort of new to erotic fiction. So I don't have a lot to recommend because I haven't read that much yet. Although anything by Megan Hart I've read is fabulous. And also Nancy Madore. The Spice Briefs are nice quick reads too. I like the ones I have read anyway! Smile

A friend introduced me to erotic fiction via Lora Leigh after reading some of the things I'd written. I can write about it, read about it, do it (Wink), but talking about it makes me red hot in the face. She got a kick out of that fact when she'd get me into a discussion about the books that's for sure. Although Lora Leigh doesn't write for Spice, Shameless Embraces, and any book in her Men of August series(love those August bothers - hot hot hot!) or The Breeds series are great. At least those are the only ones I have read so far.

I'm writing like crazy when

I'm writing like crazy when I get free moments to do it - like at 3 am when everyone else in the house is alseep!

I have several started - 3 nocturne hopefuls, 3 spice brief hopefuls, and 1 I'm-not -sure-where-it-will-fit because-I-haven't-gotten-far-enough-along-with-it  hopeful. Tongue out

My problem is that I start on something and I get these ideas (or scenes in my head) for something else totally different so have to start writing those down before I forget. Like, I'm not even done with one brief and last night while I slept, the hero's best friend's story played out in a dream. I so want to tell his story now. But I need to finish other things first.

Oh Stargirl, that always

Oh Stargirl, that always happens to me. Whjat I want to work on is never what I need to work on. I've learned to reign it in- mostly. But I do still grumble about it ;)

Lauren ~ I am working on it, a little here and there. I’ve had one kid or another home most of the last few weeks and it’s near impossible to write sex while hearing “mom…mom…mom”

I’m working on that, a Bite and a full para. I’m trying to finish all three before RT. Cross your fingers.

Star ~ That happens to me as well. What I do is open a file for the new story, write the basic premise out and whatever I already know about the characters, then I put it aside and go back to the first.

Thanks for the helpful advice Lorie.  Oh and I laughed at your comment   "it’s near impossible to write sex while hearing “mom…mom…mom”  LOL. God isn't that true sometimes? And my kids are still school age and preschool age. Laughing

Thanks Lauren, and yes,

Thanks Lauren, and yes, they are.
