Bite size books that are worth the nibble.
These are perfect for when you want something steamy to read but you only have a little time. They're also fantastic for giving your love life that little something extra.

I think out of the four Spice briefs I have read, Nancy Madore's have been my favorite by far. I am tempted to get her full length Spice books now.

To be honest, I haven't read any Spice books yet. I've checked out a few of the online reads and just wasn't sure they were what I was looking for. Maybe I'll check them out again soon!

The briefs are a good place to start Julz. Especially since they're on special right now for $0.89 apiece.

How many Briefs/minis do we count as one book?
I'd presumed 4 briefs as they are about 50 pages
or 8 minis (about 25 pages)
but prefer to check before blogging

So, I've been dying to ask...any chance they'll put the briefs on sale for 89 cents again? Because if I want to go back and pick up all the ones I still need to read, .89 adds up a lot less quickly than 2.69, LOL!

I've been reading
I've been reading forums and ran across this one. I've sent a submission to spice briefs about 2 weeks ago after having read most of the briefs and a few of the books. I love the line and I've got some ideas for a full length spice, but thought I'd cut my teeth on a brief first. I think it might have been a little too spicy, so my second one isn't quite as steamy. An idea what is considered a good level of steam?

I finally got back to finishing the SB I started in what? March? But it's done, and I've had a few people look it over, and will probably send it to my ed tomorrow, so wish me luck... an idea for another one has been brewing... I love the shorts. Fun! even if it doesn't sell, it was worth it.

It does feel good to get things done and sent -- I've finished a Blaze, a mainstream proposal, and this, and now onto the rest of work that's piled up, but I really enjoyed this little story -- the short forms are so much fun. I have ideas for more, but actually need someone who speaks/writes Japanese and doesn't embarrass easily to translate for one on one idea -- any takers?

Have you tried Bablefish? I like it but don't know if it will handle idiom or only standard translations.

About a writer's work never being done, but fun to be done for the moment.
I did some research yesterday and found you can hire freelance translators online (and I could probably find someone through the local university), for pretty cheap, all things considered. I'd like a native speaker so I know they get the idioms right -- I tried an online translator and it just gave me ????????? as an answer because I think they are programmed to not translate the "dirty" words, LOL.
I'm already itching to write it and may start today...

Unfortunately, four months is pretty standard :( They get a TON of submissions of Breifs, and it takes time to wade through them :(
You've got to work on something else in the meantime. Get your mind off of it. The end does come, I promise!

Finally!
I got my R today. I can't say that it was unexpected. It was actually a relief to know. It is only my first submission, so I'm really very proud of it. Hanging it in my office and moving on to work on my next Spice Brief.

I am submitting my first spice brief. Do you need to put anything in the body of the email or just send the attached story. I appreciate any input.

Even when submitting via email, I think you should always put a brief cover; for example, "Dear [editor], attached is "story title," a submission for [publication]. Please let me know if you have any problems with the file."

Greetings! New and so glad to be here!
I'm interested in the spice briefs. I plan to do my "research" (namely, read a few) before I jump in, but I'm dying to know so I've got to ask: anyone have an idea of what they pay? I'm new to fiction writing and buried under a pile of nonfiction deadlines so I'd love to pour myself into something different once I have some free time. (Ha!) I'm not pursuing this for a paycheck, but my curiousity is distracting me. =c) Thanks in advance for your replies!
