Susan Mallery's Lone Star Sisters

Skye Titan's wealthy father thinks he can still dictate his daughter's choice in men. Now widowed and a single mother, Skye isn't the yes-girl she once was. Especially since the love of her life is back in Texas after eight long years. He won't like the answers to the questions he's asking. About why she left him at the altar. And about her eight-year-old daughter.

Former navy SEAL Mitch Cassidy comes home to find nearly everything different. His wounds from battle have changed the way people treat him. His cattle ranch is suddenly organic. But time hasn't touched his desire for Skye—or the sting of her betrayal. Forget lip service. He's asking that luscious mouth of hers to reveal the truth. But will Mitch be able to put the past aside to help Skye get out from under her father's thumb…and help himself recover from a broken heart?

'Oh hell! She's awake!!' thank you for letting me use it Nini

Yay! Thanks for starting this discussion!

Thanks so much for starting this discussion! I love Susan Mallery, so I pre-ordered all the Lone Star Sisters books. When Under Her Skin arrived, I canceled plans to go to a movie with a friend so I could stay home and read. Kiss It was so good!

I looooved Cruz. Of course, I'm always attracted to strong, dark Latino men. He about broke my heart when he was thinking about his dad abusing his mom. He had to grow up way too fast.

You know who else I loved? Kathy at the pet store. I have a soft spot for animals, so I love it when writers give them a real role in the book. Lexi didn't know what hit her when Kathy insisted that she needed that little kitten, but I bet she'll have pets the rest of her life now. Once you fall in love with a pet, you can never imagine your life without one.

The Lone Star Sisters have arrived

Good morning! How nice that you've started a discussion about my new series, Lone Star Sisters. Under Her Skin is doing great so far. I'd love to hear what you think about it, answer any questions you might have. I'll check in on this forum from time to time, so don't be shy! Laughing

Patsy and Dream - You're sweet to say you love my books. I so appreciate your kind words.

Amanda - I love Kathy, too. I have a soft spot in my heart for that woman! You'll see more of her in Lip Service and Straight from the Hip. And then in Hot on Her Heels, which is Garth's story, Kathy is very much a part of the story. I love her mystical ability to match the right person to the right pet. She's a different sort of matchmaker. I'm glad you like her!

A teaser for Book 2

Dream - Thanks for the warm welcome. It's great to be here. I'd love to check in every day, but as always, deadlines loom. My darn editor actually expects me to write! Laughing I'll try to stop in once or twice a week to respond to reader questions and comments.

As for what's in store for the Lone Star Sisters... Next up, we've got Skye Titan, whose father is trying to sell her to the highest bidder for the second time. When Skye was younger, she would've done anything to win Jed's approval, including turning her back on Mitch Cassidy, her first love. As a young widow, she's not willing to sacrifice herself for her father's ambitions, especially when she learns that Mitch is back in town.

Mitch was a character who really got to me. He used to be a happy, easy-going guy, but life hit him hard. Skye's betrayal devastated him, and now he has to deal with the physical wounds of war.

hot on her heels

Susan, it's so cool that you're here! I was shocked when you said that the last book is Garth's story. I thought he was the bad guy! It's going to be very interesting to see how you make me like him. I know you will. You always do. :) I wonder what kind of woman he'll end up with.

Are you going to write a story for Dana? Oh wait, is she going to be with Garth? Oooooh! Why are you making us wait until November?! You must have a cruel streak.

I wish Lip Service was out. I have to work this weekend. I work at an answering service, the late night shift, so I can get lots of reading done, especially over holiday weekends. Unless the cable goes out. When the cable goes out, the phone doesn't stop ringing.

Lip Service is out now

LOL, Amanda. Sorry we're going to make you wait until November for Hot on Her Heels. Hopefully the months between Straight from the Hip (July) and Hot on Her Heels (November) will be time for the anticipation to build. You guessed right. Dana is Garth's match.

Lip Service is out in stores now. I love that it came out around Memorial Day, because Mitch is one of those wounded warrior heroes that grabs my heart.

Amanda, you are good...

Even if Susan will now use it to torment us!

Yay its November!

Can't wait for the new book!!

hi, all...

Hi, all...I am a BIG Susan Mallery fan Smile and have been hanging onto the Lone Star Sisters titles (I do e-books) until Hot on Her Heels was out so I could read them in a row...I know, I know...it has been challenging to wait to start them...but, now that I have I am enthralled with the series.

What was really cool was to see Susan herself signing in here - that was a very pleasant surprise - good to see you here, Susan!

When I discovered these forums earlier this year (due to the 2009 Book Challenge), the first books I wrote reviews on were Susan's Desert Rogues titles.  I have the print books and am now buying all the e-books - not quite sure what I'm going to do with the print titles...a part of me wants to keep them because they've been such good friends over the years but another part of me says 'why do you need two copies of each, Gayle? - especially when one takes up physical space and the other can be stored on the PDA's teeny-weeny flash memory along with 500 other books' - decisions, decisions...

Well, I've added this to my favorites and will check back frequently - and will post a link to my review when I do one of these books!

Take care, all...on to more reading...

Gayle

Hi Gayle!

We're so happy to have you! I know what you mean about saving up the books. I often do that too! It's just too hard to wait for the next one sometimes. I love being able to indulge in an all at once binge. :)

I admit, I often buy multiple copies of the same book to loan out to friends. That way, I don't feel so bad if they don't return it. :)
