Sweet Spot with Susan Mallery
Is there anything sweeter than first love?
Don't ask Claire Keyes. The twenty-eight-year-old piano prodigy has never had a regular boyfriend, much less a real romance. Her music career has left little room for friends or family—which is just part of the reason she hasn't seen the family bakery or her two sisters in years.
But now Nicole is sick, and Jesse is AWOL. Despite the fact that Claire can't boil water, she's determined to play caretaker. Connecting with her sisters tops her to-do list…along with falling in love, or at least in lust, for the first time.
Ruggedly sexy Wyatt just might fit the bill. Although he keeps saying that he and Claire come from entirely different worlds, he lights up hotter than a bakery oven whenever Claire is near. If this keeps up, she just might sweet—talk him into her bed…and her life.

Welcome!
Hi Susan,
Just popping in to say HI and tell you that you have lots of SWEET fans here in the Harlequin office! Any possibility that we might be seeing more bakery books after these three?
Jayne
yummy and sweet!
Hi-- I'm delighted to hear you're enjoying my Bakery Sisters! I had so much fun with them. Did lots of research. You know, driving to different bakeries, eating cookies and cake and pie. Just to get the details right!
I would love to see Amy (the hero's daughter) when she grows up. I think she's going to be a fabulous adult and would be a great heroine.
Susan
Hi Susan!
So cool to chat with you here. First of all, congratulations for hitting the NYT list at #24 with SWEET TALK!!! How incredibly cool!! How do you feel about that?
Like so many of my friends who have read it so far, I'm totally in love with your new series! It's absolutely delicious.
Could you tell us how you came up with the idea for the three sisters? I would also love to know what you like best about Claire's character. Was she easy to get to know during the writing process?

Welcome Susan
It's such a "treat" to have you here. I bet the research was really tough. Next time, if you need a research assistant, you know, to do all that horrible sampling work, just let me know.

Is there anything better than a Susan Mallery book AND a cupcake or two? I don't think so.....
Gotta say, Susan, I love Claire. I thought you did a great job in creating an intelligent woman without a clue!

Claire
Hi all--
Claire was such a sweetie. I got the idea for her while listening to a story on the radio about a 12 year old boy who played piano and studied graduate level math. He played all over the world and lived an incredible life that wasn't anything close to what we would see as "normal." I kept thinking about what he would be like at 30. From that Claire was born.
She really is clueless, which makes her fun. But she leads with her heart and I respect that!

cupcakes and sheiks
Hi Hazel...
More sheiks coming. I just turned in the one for next year. The Sheik and the Bought Bride. It's an October '09 release. Very fun. There's a harem and sword fighting and everything that makes sheik books a great fantasy!
I'm so happy to hear you're loving the Bakery Sisters.
Susan
Can't wait to read it!
Hi Susan! I ordered "Sweet Talk" from eHarl. I enjoy your work. The first one I read was "Falling For Gracie". I have "Accidentally Yours" on my TBR pile. Can't wait to get ST in the mail.
books!
Hi--
Hope you love Sweet Talk. I'll warn you, there is much discussion of bakery goods in the books!
Accidentally Yours is really special. The idea just came to me one night and was just like a gift from the universe. The book practically wrote itself. Wish they could all be like that!
Susan
You just had to do it, didn't you?
First you tease us with the luscious baked goods, and then you give us a taste of the Sheikh. I can't wait until October 09!
What I want to know is how you managed to write such a tasty story without gobbling all the "research"? I don't think I'd have the willpower!

Sweet Talk
I loved this book. Food and sex, what could be better? But really I loved Claire. She's so incredibly talented with her music and so totally clueless in everyday life. She doesn't know how to wash clothes? And she needs the assistance of Amy to find clothes for normal life. I see where Nadine's coming from even as you manage to show the downside of not knowing how to wash clothes and hanging out with George Clooney (wait a minute. Remind me again, what IS the downside of hanging with George Clooney? My only suggestion for improvement? Give us the recipe for the Keyes Chocolate cake. P-L-EEAS-EE!
Pat
PS: I'm recycling this and using it for my book review!
sweets!
LOL--I did plenty of sampling while writing this one. I found a great bakery that specializes in European cookies. Yum!
The other research was interesting, too. Classical music was always something I just flipped past on the radio, so I took the time to learn a little while writing Claire's book.
As to the Keyes chocolate cake...I"m not allowed to give out the recipe! It's secret. But there is a recipe for Black Cherry Burgundy Pie at the front of Sweet Spot that is very yummy!
Thanks for spending the week with us.
It's always a treat to have you, Susan. I can't wait to dig in to the series.

Thanks for having me!
I had a great time. Hope you (and everyone) enjoys the series!
Best,
