Shall I confess something dreadful - I have been linking to In The Mood by the link Liz F sent me when she first invited me over here to play (I'd bookmarked it). When it told me that page couldn't be found I was like - where are all my friends? But it did forced me to go exploring.

I'd been wondering how people managed to get photos of themselves up and all...

And the chats look interesting...

I fear this old-fashioned, write by long hand gal is going to have to update herself.

1. Create a profile and Introduce yourself: Now that you've Registered/Logged in, the next step is to create a fabu profile. Click the "My Profile" button at the top of the page to access your new profile page. At the top of that page you'll see two links, "VIEW", and "EDIT". Click the "EDIT" link and look at all of the information you are now able to share. Oh, boy -- i really didn't have time for this, this morning.  Hunting for my password, all that stuff.   I've managed to upload a photograph, but haven't a clue how to redo my sig. line.  It took me forever to work it out the first time but now can't check how I did it.

I'm sure I'll get over the grumps and it'll all lbe lovely when I've worked out where everything is and what all the new stuff is about, but I have to say that nothing drives me away from a site faster than having to jump through hoops.  And now I can't remember why I came here in the first place.

I'm finding my faves easier now. Lastnight I couldn't find anything or I'd have been here then! I probably sound like a whiner by now because I'm saying this for all my hosties to see, but I can't use colors! I can't use my green font. And my piccy is still MIA even though I've tried it 3 times already. The most recent was 314KB. Is that still too small/big? How many KB does it have to be? I did delete my old one before uploading the new one.

So for my sig line I just have to type it in, but what do I do to link my blog and email?  And why does my font keep changing colors?

You still need to go in to edit profile and then pick the option that lets you enter your interests and bio - I think it's the second tab in.

Once we're all settled, I'll find someone who's already told us how to do it.  Or I'll ask . . . for now, I'm happy to have my rose and just get settled in.

Well, marking the forums as favorites makes it easier. I never visited the forums of lines I liked much with the old way but this year I have HR marked under favorites.

Liz, I am glad to hear your frustrations. Jumping through hoops right now is not what I need now either. My dh is sick with a stomach bug, I wanted to work today, UPS has totally mangled big book orders and I spent all day on the phone trying to reorder books many now sold out (not Halrequin books, thank goodness!), etc. etc. I like the buddy/friend aspect too but I am totally overwhelmed by the blogs. I am thinking the friend way is the only way to be able to really read what people have to say. I don't like snippets because it strips away the individuality I grew to love in the bloggers. I am sure it will get better and there are many elements I do like but as soon as someone blogs a book, the blog disappears it seems just because of the mass quantity of blogs.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to the HR line and this forum. I finally got everything sorted out and have all the Feb. books on the way and a subscription that will start now with March books.

No, there's no way I can cope with another blog.  We've already got editors complaining that we spend too much time doing this stuff!    Today I've got guest blogs at the Pink Heart Society and My Tote Bag and I'm hosting a guest of my own.  Celebrating 50 books isn't all champagne and roses!

One thing I'm finding annoying is that I have to scroll down through the entire list of posts each time.  Not too bad at the moment, but it's going to become a problem.  Is that going to be sorted Rae?

Yes, Liz, they're working on that first. Bear with us, soon we'll be able to not have to scroll so much. Also, if you add this thread to your favorites, you won't have to scroll and search and click as much as you're doing. Rae

If you click on that person's name, then once you're in their profile, you can add them as a friend.

Oh yeah, then the other bummer is once you've posted you get kicked back up to the top and have to go through the scrolling again to find your post

I wrote a quick and simple blog. It's the Home and Family Suggestion/Idea Box. This will be a place for you all to give me ideas on stuff you want to see/talk about on the Simply Series Home and Hearth forum/board.

This is also the place for any of you to suggest which line you want to see an editor pitch challenge for.

Ages?  But I was sure there were some posts just before Christmas.  Jo was really good about posting responses, and a lot of the time the authors would pop in with answers for those with questions.  It would be a shame to see it gone.

LOL at the post office story....and I'm thinking that flowery envelope might not have been such a bad idea in the end...now if it had been purple....

I have selective memory today, so I'm not sure if I mentioned, but I have a new blue cast and a dr okay to type again!  Woo hoo!  I might actually get this book in sooner than I thought!

Read the forums -- there's lots of explanations in there.  Or just click on buttons LOL!  If you click on the "Add to Favourites" button (or whatever they named it) and then on your bar click on "My favourites", you'll see a list of your favs and any activity that they've had.

Be sure when you're doing a book review to count toward the challenge that you click on "Book Review" under "Create Content" so that the book gets counted toward the goal. For chatty things, you can do a blog entry.

I finally got my photos from RWA developed.  I decided that I need a digital camera not b/c I'd get the pics sooner but b/c I'd see right away what horrible pictures I've taken.  I take horrible pics! But you'll be glad to know that you look good LOL!

I'm rushing towards a deadline, too, or rather, I think it's rushing at me. Lovely to see you all after my few days awol. I get the wibbles if I can't get my eHarl fix! Liz, I don't know how I'd live without broadband these days. AND I no longer have to fight my ds for bandwidth while he's busy downloading music etc. There are some advantages to them moving out. Heh.

 I just found the UK M&B Editors Thread!  It's under the Write Stuff heading then the Q&A's.  I'm so glad it's back!  I asked the first question because I'm frustrated.  Something's wrong with the buildup to my dark moment, and I can't figure out what it is.  If anyone has some tips, please let us all know!

Isn't it wonderful how responsive everyone at eharlequin is?  Thank you, Rae, and anyone else who helped bring back one of our favorite threads!  It's now on my Favorites list, or should I say Favourites?

Donna, I'm sorry, I think I was in my own little world and I meant that I hadn't had the thread in ages. And I am in my own little word because my fiance' hurt his back and the house is no longer mine and between worrying about him....well, I'm sure you get the idea.

But yes, I was discussing with Dee and she decided that it really should be on the Write Stuff. So, there you have it. Glad it's back on the boards and hope it helps!

Sorry to not answer before, I'm just so pathetic with computers I get lost on these fancy websites (don't know how you negotiate it so fast, Ally, guess you're just heaps more computer savvy than me). Looking forward to the guest blog too, Liz! For now better get back to deadline - know how you feel about the rushing deadline, Jennie. 16 days, 23000 words...and polishing, though the first half I polished as I went, now it's all rough stuff!

Congratulations, Donna!  What an achievement to finish with a broken wrist.  You must be on such a high.

I have to start a book this morning and I'm ... prevaricating.  Blogging, messing about, doing anything but actually write Chapter One.  It would help if my characters had as much as a name between them!
