Make Mine Supers (17)
It's not just the size that makes a Superromance super. It's not even just the down deep plots or the characters with real conflicts and real, serious problems on their hands. Running the gamut from contemporary comedy to heart-rending family drama, what makes a Super so incredibly super is that we get six of them every month and we're the happiest campers on the planet because the satisfaction is that good! So if you've been "super-ed", pop on in and share the love!

First?
Me?The queen of lurkers is the first one here? Talk about timing!
I was just reading about allergies, fall tradtions, Oreos...oh, wait...I just looked down and noticed my wedding rings were on backwards - the engagement ring was on the inside vs. the outside. Now how did that happen? Anyway, saw Rae's post about a new room and figured I'd better check it out...yeah me!
Finally got my proposal off the my agent late last week and my stepdaughter's wedding was on Saturday so things have been crazy! The wedding was outdoors and it was a sunny but cool New England day. The reception was a bar-b-que in a local state park and the leaves are just starting to shed their green summer attire and pull on the colorful fall sweaters! So pretty!
Other news? The Dh came home from his three months overseas with a old-time handlebar mustache. He looks like a cross between Yosemite Sam and Wilford Brimley... but he likes it so I like it and it was the hit of the wedding as it was the first time the family's been all together in over a year.
And oh, "Farmville" on Facebook is tons of fun! (but beware of the time suck factor!)

Holly, it sounds like you had a terrific weekend. I'm eagerly awaiting the day when my kids treat!
Christyne, yay on being first, getting that submission off to the agent and your step-daughter's wedding. It sounded like a wonderful event.
Ellen, yes, my ideas of affordability changed a lot when the children came along. When I think of all the money my ex and I spent in the early days on meals out, it amazes me!

WELCOME HOME, DADDY ~ Superromance ~ August 2009
Good morning!
I got nothing done this weekend. I had grand plans of a writing marathon alas, we had Miss E's bday party (a very, very pink party) and then we were catching up on LOST, which entailed a marathon of DVRed episodes but it's kinda fun to watch the season that way because there's none of that pesky waiting for the next one. :-) So, in the end, I got nothing done. I did clean my toilet. And wash my sheets and duvet cover. So, not a total loss of a weekend but still...
Also, I've recently started using denture cleaner for my toilet bowl. It fizzes and cleans, quick scrub and you're done. It also has an antibacterial in it so the bowl is fresh. Just an FYI. I'm always on the hunt for better cleansers and I love using unusual yet effective cleansing methods! If anyone has a method for cleaning a disgusting shower I'm ALL ears. I've yet to find something that cleans as well as I want it to. I've even tried oven cleaner, which does work but it's so toxic I don't like to use it often. It works like a dream on tile though.
Hmmm....what else...not much else to report, I guess but the week is young!
Hope everyone has a productive day!

Unusual cleaners and allergies
Kim, I once heard Tang worked well as a toilet bowl cleaner. I wasn't impressed. Like you, I'd love to find a heavy-duty, inexpensive, non-toxic shower cleaner....I hope the whole escrow process goes smoothly for you. How exciting! I'll keep fingers crossed. And how old is Miss E now? She's one of our Super babies, with many Super aunties.
Amy, I found food sensitivities contributed to my sinus problems. Dairy was one of my big-time triggers, as it is with my DS. I've found I can get away with some cheese and occasional ice cream, but milk is pushing it. Though to be really in top form, I'd have to eliminate wheat and corn, too. Sigh, my willpower isn't that strong these days....
DS is in advanced English now and I'm having fun watching him flex his writing muscles. It's truly amazing seeing his path to adulthood and all the things the kid is really good at. My oldest son's skills are in different areas like hunting and fishing, which his dad can relate better to. I'm still amazed at his abilities, but have a harder time wrapping my mind around it.
Sorry for all the dangling participles.
Grammar is semi-optional here, right? Just good friends conversing. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Denture Cleaner
Ok Kim now you have me interested. Any special brand of denture cleaner?? And how much do you use?? I like the idea of not having to use the toxic stuff to clean with.
PS isn't grammar my parent's mothers?

Ellen Too, I pop four tablets into the bowl, wait about 15 minutes and then scrub. It does as good a job as Comet, which is my stand-by for everything. I like that it's gentle and doesn't smell. It doesn't take off the hard water stains but I use a pumice stone or CLR sometimes. I don't like to use either too often.

I like it!
The idea of denture cleaner. Hmm. I bet if you checked out Real Simple's website they could direct you to good cleaners for the shower.
Looks like things may be changing here for us. We, unlike many families in this area, are stable and my dh's job is secure. However, the company (it's a utility) is acting stupid and doing things that make him nervous. Plus, our totally, completely, absolutely inept elected officals are trying thier very da**dest to run this state into the ground with some very dangerous cuts since they are too chicken to raise any kind of tax. So we're thinking--well, we're thinking. The last thing I want to do is uproot my kids (esp my 13 and 9 yos) but...plus we've got this house. Thankfully we paid much less than its worth even in this market (it was a foreclosure) but the unloading of it could take forever. But. I can't stress yet. when I do, I'll hit the Oreo aisle!
Yikes didn't mean to unload. LOL. Hey, when did summer come back? It's so muggy outside I can't have the windows open! The AC just kicked on. <sigh> Please, Fall, come back!
Ami
Ami, Madison is nice! I
Ami, Madison is nice! I so know the upheaval and stress you must be feeling at just the thought of it, but if it makes things better in the end, it will be worth it. I hope. :)
Kim, I have to ask what ever made you think about putting denture tablets in the toilet? LOLOL Interesting. Might have to try it. As for hard water stains, this rental house had them horribly when we moved in, to the extent that I wouldn't get in the shower until they were gone. Thanks to Kay for recommending The Works, which I think is actually toilet bowl cleaner, but it WORKS. When nothing else would. No Comet, no Kaboom, no anything else with a name that sounded like it should've knocked the stuff off the shower and toilet. It's toxic too, so might not be an improvement over oven cleaner, but I was impressed with the way it made our tub white again.
Carrie, I know what you mean about lacking the will power to do all the necessary diet rules. I've been bad lately too. Weekdays aren't too bad but the weekends, when we go out to dinner (we're in a new city with tons of yummy-looking restaurants...we MUST explore) I fall off the wagon totally and completely. This weekend, donuts and a pecan pie bar on Saturday. Duo Silk (chocolate and peanut butter) Pie on Sunday. *sigh*

Hmm...The Works
Amy, I'm such a sucker for a new way to clean a bathroom. I'm weird about that. No seriously. I freely admit it. Yet, with this strange compulsion you'd be surprised how dirty I let my bathroom get. Shameful. LOL! I will try this Works biz and see what shakes out. I discovered the denture cleaner in this book my aunt bought at a yard sale, something similar to Helpful Hints From Heloise kinda thing. I was intrigued enough to try it. I'm not hating it that's for sure.
Ami, good luck with the possibility of a move. That's always stressful even if in the end it's the best decision.
So home inspection came back good and it appraised well. So...I think we're getting closer. I'm starting to get excited/nervous. Excited because Holy Hell we're finally buying a house and nervous because, well, we're buying a house! It's so grown-up.

November RT....review of A MAN WORTH LOVING!
Here it is a very respectable four stars!
A MAN WORTH LOVING (4) by Kimberly Van Meter: Left a widower
when his wife died after giving birth to their son, Sammy Halvorsen
finds it hard to even look at young Ian, a painful reminder of the
woman he loved. But when his mother bullies him into hiring Aubrey Rose
as a nanny, Aubrey helps him get over his hurt and be a good father.
But in the midst of helping Sammy with his troubles, Aubrey must deal
with a few of her own -- in the form of her mother and sister coming to
visit after her wealthy father cuts them off and files for divorce. Van
Meter's beautifully detailed story gets added depth thanks to a
secondary plot involving Aubrey's family troubles. Aubrey and Sammy are
complex and interesting characters.
Not too shabby!

Super Reviews in RT
Kim, Great review. Here's the rest of them for the month...mine included. Since this is my first official Super (Same TIme Next Summer was an Everlasting that moved into Super) I was jazzed!
UNEXPECTED GIFTS (4) by Holly Jacobs: When family sciences teacher Elinore Cartwright finds herself single and pregnant in her 40s, her college professor boyfriend Arthur wants nothing to do with fatherhood. Unwilling to give up her potentially last shot at motherhood, Eli goes forward with the pregnancy and finds help from an unexpected source. Store owner Zac Keller had always had a crush on her, but her boyfriend's presence kept him away. Now that she's single, Zac makes his desire for her -- and her baby -- very clear. Jacobs' characters display real warmth, and her touching story shows that family isn't always about blood relations.
LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON (4) by Karina Bliss: Fearful of losing his daughter to her new family, commercial real estate broker Joe Fraser enlists her teacher's help getting closer to her. And while young Kaitlin's father reconnects with his daughter, teacher Philippa Browne falls in love with him. Will her fear of commitment prevent her from staying in the States instead of traveling home to New Zealand once her teaching job is over? Bliss demonstrates a skill for snappy dialogue and clever plotting that will captivate readers.
—Alexandra Kay
HER SECRET RIVAL (4) by Abby Gaines: All family-law attorney Megan Merritt wants is to take over as managing partner of the family law firm now that her father has been forced to retire due to ill health. She has to prove herself to her father, however, who doesn't believe she's a candidate for the position. Attorney Travis Jamieson wants the job too, and when the two work together on a divorce case, they give in to their attraction. But then Megan finds out Travis is her professional rival. Gaines enhances a touching love story with Megan's and Travis' realistic insecurities over being good enough for the job they both want.
—Alexandra Kay
A CONFLICT OF INTEREST (4) by Anna Adams: After Dr. Maria Keaton testifies against a client in court and is accused of sexual misconduct, she's suspended and worried about losing her career. Desperate for support in a town that's suddenly turned against her, she relies on judge Jake Sloan for help. Initially unsure of Maria's innocence, Jake quickly comes to believe in her. But their budding relationship is put to the test when Jake learns his own daughter was a patient of Maria's. Adams nicely depicts complex psychological issues with sensitivity. In addition, the hurt, worry and confusion that assail Maria and Jake come through quite clearly.
—Alexandra Kay
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS (4) by Sarah Mayberry: When Joe Lawson moves his children from Sydney to Melbourne to be closer to his mother after his wife dies in an accident, he meets mechanic Hannah Napier, a woman getting over the heartbreak of her fiance falling in love with her sister. Maybe together they can restart each other's engine. Mayberry's touching story about a second chance at love is spot-on in its depiction of Joe's and Hannah's sorrows and uncertainties.

THE SHERIFF'S SECRET WIFE, Silhouette Special Edition, January 2010
Wow, gone for a few days and you miss a lot!!!
I don’t remember who it was that asked about GRAMMAR, but HERE I never think about it. I really guess I should, but alas grammar and I have issues. My ms is hard enough to think about with grammar, that I sort of ignore it elsewhere at times. Please forgive my lack of it. LOL.!
Papaya, The Dr. told me I could move my foot just not put any weight or pressure on it without the boot on. I have been walking on my foot pretty much the whole time. I guess since I had been walking on it broken for a month and a half he figured he would go ahead and let me (just with the boot on). I still have yet to try the ice thing, but I so need to. My foot and my toes especially are swelling up so much it isn’t even funny. The pain is getting better. I found out the sharp shooting pains and the tingling was where I hadn’t moved my foot in weeks. Now that I have started moving different parts of it some, those things are lessoning so I can focus on the main break. I hated sleeping in the boot. I would put a pillow on my bed at the foot and leave my boot foot on it so I wouldn’t get the covers dirty. I wish they had given me a shoe instead of a boot, but oh well. He still hasn’t mentioned anything about PT, but we will see. I go back to him next Tuesday to get it checked yet again. Currently I am able to move my ankle around, my foot up and down, and wiggle my first 2 toes. I have tried to do this at night, and I get a little done. It tends to be more effective if I do it in the mornings however, because my foot isn’t as swollen, so I can sense the pain and movements better. Once again ty for all your great info! I truly appreciate you and the info.
Great reviews you all! Give yourselves a pat on the back!
Kim, I hope the house closes for you. I know you have to be tickled pink, after you get past the nerves of course.
Ami, I hope either things start getting better for you where you are at, or you all find a nice place to move to. Either way, do what makes you happy.
Deb, I am glad you and dh are going to get away for a bit. Yes, I will attest to how caring for someone near the end can wear you down. The after effects can often do even more I have found of late. Hope you have a wonderful time.
Ellen, yes this board is great for finding out so much info. I, like you, love the way we all share and grow from each others stories.
Holly, Glad you had a good weekend.
Amy, yes the foot woes are painful, but I am learning to deal. Good luck with figuring out your multiple projects. My fingers are crossed for you!
Waves to anyone I might have missed. Hope everyone has a great week! Donya
If you have never loved.. you have never really lived!
Hi
Insomnia, my old friend...sigh.
Oh well, I had a chance to get a jump on the comments on the Super blog from yesterday and to catch up in here with the shiny new digs. Thanks for the Oreos, by the way!
Ami--hope things work out whatever you decide to do. Ugh. Hate uncertainty and stupid politicians!
Lim--hope everything continues to go well with the house. Happy Birthday to your baby!
I'm wary about what we use in our shower. After working at a program doing public health research and education about breast cancer and environmental risk factors, I learned how vulnerable we are to household exposure to chemicals in the shower. The warm air, open pores, skin exposure, etc. makes the perfect conditions for higher than normal exposures. I wouldn't be spraying oven cleaner in my shower, no matter how clean it got the tiles. Denture cleaner in the toilet sounds interesting, though, and is probably less toxic than most other cleansers!
Donya--glad to hear the foot is progressing.
I babysat my niece and nephew tonight for about 2 hours and when it was over, I was exhausted. Phew. I took them to see my son's soccer practice at the elementary school and then we stayed to play on the playground. I realized I've totally forgotten what's safe for little kids. My niece is 16 months and super fast! She had big plans about the really tall slide and was not too happy when I explained she'd have to wait until her mother was around to go on that. Then, of course, her 4-year-old brother had to rub in his superiority by going down that very same slide, causing his sister additional upset.
It was fun, though.
Hope you're all well!

P.S. Love those reviews! I've been waiting for a couple of those books, and now I'm really excited.

You would not believe...
the day we had yesterday. It started off with an annoyance. An errant charge caused one of my accounts to become overdrawn. I fixed the error but I still have to eat the shipping charges even though it wasn't my fault that it happened. I shrugged it off. Don't sweat the small stuff, I told myself. Then, I come home for lunch and the plasma television isn't working properly. I try not to panic. Probably a loose connection somewhere. I come home after work to find not only the dh nearly in tears -- the plasma is definitely broken -- to find out that the sink is clogged and we have to tear it apart so it can drain. Oh wait! there's more...my cousin's apron strings got caught in the agitator of the washing machine, necessitating the dismantling of my washing machine! My refridgerator is having a problem with ice build up and it's bowing out the back, pushing all the drawers so that door won't close properly and the repairman needs an arm and a leg to come and look at it. We're infested with ants -- in spite of an ant service I pay for! -- and I don't think I need anymore bad appliance/house mojo coming my way!
Seriously. Was it a wonky day or what??

So, Kim, what you're saying is that your toilet is minty fresh? So kidding. I've done that/used them before. It does work!
Awesome reviews, authors! Top-notch! I'm guessing like the rest of you, so not surprised. We all know that Supers ladies ROCK.
It's raining and we totally need it, so not complaining at all about that. But we did miss the bus this morning. Hate that. I really want to tell the driver to pick a time and stick with it. Anyhow, I'm rambling and I don't want to do that.
Have a good day!

Kim--Cyber hugs!!!! Those are weird goings on. Since they all happened at once, maybe you'll have months of clear sailing now.
Congrats everyone on the boffo reviews! (My kids cringe when I use the word boffo.)
For cleaners, I found the professional janitor section of my WalMart (it's by the lighting and paint in my store) and bought the Rubbermaid Degreaser. It's spectacular. So I'm going back for the tile cleaner.
I've sent in my revisions and now I can take off on the next book, which I am so excited to write. I love it when characters talk to me without coaxing and these two do.
Marcie--I hope everything settles down for you.
The running season is about to start for me. A 10K in Tahoe next week--99% down hill; Nike Woman's half marathon in October and the Big Sur half marathon in November. I'm excited because my daugher will be running all of them with us. Or rather, she will be running and finish well under 2 hours. I'll be running 15 minutes, walking for 3 and finishing right at 2 1/2 hours. I have time to see the sights, take some photos. Good times.

Mercury retrograde
Kim, I'm not big on astrology, but I have noticed a lot of mechanical/electrical stuff goes on the fritz during a mercury retrograde period. And I think we're in one right now.
Ellen, I'm not sure if I have enough energy for the sprints a 16 month old requires. I look at moms with young kids and wonder how in the heck they do it.
Jeannie, I like the sound of the all downhill run! What fun to be able to share a sport with your hubby and your daughter. And I think 2 1/2 hours sounds pretty darn good!
Donya, glad to hear your foot is allowing you some movement now.

Mercury in retrograde
Carrie, I've heard of this in the past and sorta shrugged it off, but now I'm inclined to believe it might be true. We're going to have replace the AC unit at my mom's house (we rent the place to my son and family). Holding my breath on the cost. Also lots so small annoyances lately. And my computer has been driving me nuts. One reason I'm not online more often. Half the time the DSL will suddenly stop working. Don't get me started about the incompetence of our telephone monopoly.
Kim, so sorry about your woes. Bet the nice review helped. I've used the foaming bubbles of denture cleaner before and been pleasantly surprised. It's especially good for hard water build up.
Jeannie, I'm envious. I wish I had some inclination to run a K of any kind. Just don't. Sigh. But have fun! The Tahoe trip should be especially nice.
We leave Saturday for Portland and I'm really looking forward to a little bit cooler temps. We're back in the 100s for a few days. Ack! At least the nights cool off nicely.
Watched House last night. A different kind of start, but interesting. And Castle was fun. Several new shows that look promising. Did anyone see the promos for Eastwick? One of the stars is my love interest from Slings and Arrows. Although, sadly, his name escapes me. Sigh.

to a showing of "The Wizard of Oz" on the big screen! It's his all time favorite movie and because its the 70th anniversary of the movie this year, its been remastered and is being shown locally for one night only...he's so excited...just like a little kid! Me too!
Can't wait to see those flying monkeys on the big screen!
Kim & Deb...hugs to you both! My horrorscope said to basically spent this month doing nothing but wait for the month to end!
Oh, guess what? My stepdaughter finally got her depature date for the United States Air Force. She leaves for boot camp in San Antonio on December 8th. Already planning a trip there for Feb 2010 to see her graduate and bonus...my sister and her hubby (active duty USAF) just built their first house there so I get to see them too!
The new television season? I am looking forward to "Mercy" --- tomorrow night at 8 pm pn NBC about a nurse fresh from the war trying to find her way in a civilan hospital. Hope the show lives up to the previews. Can't wait for "Brothers & Sisters" to start again on Sunday!

Donya, glad I could be of some help regarding your foot :) It's been 14 months since I broke mine and sometime it still bugs me, mostly when i push off on that foot or stand for long periods of time, but it is so nice to be able to walk and do things that I did before. Definitely do the ice if your foot is still swelling. A bag of frozen vegetables or raw rice works well too.

Ramblin' woman
Christyne, My oldest just took his prelimanary test to see if he'll do okay on the ASVAB and aced it. He bamboozled me last Thursday with a trip to the recruiters for his Sr. Project and when he started asking questions, it occured to me why we were really there. He affirmed it when he told the recruiter he wanted to join the Air Force and if at all possible leave in July after he graduates in June. He then turned and asked me if I was okay with that and I said yes, I was. It's in his blood, a part of our family and I think one of the very best decisions he's ever made for himself. I'm bursting with pride and at the same time, my heart is breaking. I blogged about this to get some of the feelings out and I'll probably talk about this and bore you to hell. But getting it out makes it easier for me not to cry when I look at him. ;)
Taking your hubby to see Wizard of Oz on the big screen is an awesome way to spend the evening. I bet it'll be fantastic!
Deb: have fun on your trip to Portland. You deserve it!
Jeannie: I wish I had your gumption. I used to love to run. Now, haha. We won't go there. Good-luck on all your races! We'll be cheering you on from afar.

Ethel Merman?
LOL, Holly, I assume Ethel is one of your hounds? Exuberant canine affection is great, except when it results in injury. I've found out the hard way just how thick-skulled a German Shepherd can be (in more ways than one).
Christyne, how neat that you and your hubby can share his love of Wizard of Oz. What a cool gift!
Deb, hope you find a relatively inexpensive solution to the broken A/C unit. I say relatively, because the contraptions are almost always expensive to repair and exorbitant to replace. My A/C his holding together on a song and a prayer, lovely lemon that it is. Grrr. And I'm calling the plumber today, so we might as well add plumbing fixtures to our list of retrograde-sensitive mechanisms. Enjoy your trip to Portland! I'm jealous. I have a friend who owned an indy bookstore in Seaside....Love Oregon!
Jeannie, I really enjoyed the wedding stories over on the Superromance blog!
Now all my responses have disappeared, poof. Early onset Alzheimer's?
Well, hopefully I'll pick them up later.

Carrie,
Yes, Ethel Merman and Ella Fitzgerald are my two dogs. Ethel got me but good! I'm sporting a huge bandaid because the scratch is still oozy and there's a mound of neosporin on it. Let me tell you, I do know how to dress to the nines...uh, canines! LOL

I am so disappointed I am
I am so disappointed I am having trouble with my photos on the blog. If anyone ever sees the photos (which show up for me when I log into the blog) let me know. I sent an SOS to Jayne. This is weird, though, because I used the same method I always do, giving the URL from my picassa albums...if anyone is more saavy than me (Ellen) please contact me.

Jeannie's Pics
Jeannie, I'm now seeing two of the pics, the rest are still the red X. I've never been able to figure out how to do the URL thing to post within the body of the blog, so you're way ahead of me.

Jeannie, still can't see
Jeannie, still can't see the pictures... hope Jayne can fix it. The wedding sounded so nice I would love to see the pictures.
Morning Holly, 'cept it's afternoon for you now... must be around 4:25 pm in PA. Could you imagine if we were all on the same time like China? They are on Beijing time so I assume we would be on DC time... that would be different... daylight hours would not be the same and you couldn't really have daylight savings. Hmmmmm, don't think I'd like that much!

Pics and Papaya
Jeannie, I can see all the pics now and they're wonderful! Sniff, sniff, so romantic. Ya gotta love a cowboy in "dress" Wranglers. The bride was gorgeous, too, lol.
Papaya, that would mean in Arizona we'd be rising long before the sun!

Dear Superwomen,
Sorry I've been such a slug. Work has me totally bamboozled these days, so I haven't had time for much of anything...except Farmville on FB as my stress relief. Oy. Anyway, I miss you all and hope you're having very creative days. Hope to be back once the craziness settles down at the office...
Signed,
Sleepless in slugville

did someone say Oreos?
Several posts ago! I've been caught up in Premiere week on TV and haven't posted and missed the rest of the other loop. Castle was good - same writers - yeah! Last night was NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles. Tonight not sure what to watch. Tomorrow - CSI!!
Liked the talk on denture cleaner for the toilet! I cleaned mine this weekend too (but with Sno Bowl - some cheapie product).
Since there were 37 posts to peruse I'll give a shout-out to everyone - HELLO!!
Marcie
Bamboozled too...
Jodie, you and me, both, though I am slowly getting a grip on things -- I have put writing first in my day, and getting that done is good, also making sure that when the writing slows down, I get up and do other things, like gardening, housework, errands, sewing... I did finish my triangle quilt, and made the backing last weekend... so now just quilting and binding, and hopefully have it on the bed by end of Oct. Starting one for my niece, for Xmas (a simple pattern) and made a bag for myself today... I'm making headway and feeling productive again, not just like a deer in headlights...
As most of you probably know, I am closing down Cigars as part of this lunge toward sanity... in truth, we're all so busy, the group blog gets to be a lot of work, and I think we had a great run, but it's just time. I think we all feel okay with it, but please stop by and post goodbyes, especially since I think pretty much all of you were guests at some point. :) I am not starting a new blog, but I did start a group on FB that I am going to treat pretty much like a blog -- I think that will be fun. It's just me, and with no particular schedule, just a place for me to stay in touch with readers and friends... I hope it will be good.
I also hope to have more time to come by here... do I keep saying that? I do mean it...but you all know how it goes.
Anyhoo... will sign off for now -- will be back to talk new TV shows, books, and whatnot. Will try stalwartly to keep up. Sending hugs, smiles, commiserations, whatever is needed to everyone for the last week or so...

Thursday
Wow, it's Thursday already...this week is flying by!
Jeannie, I have problems with pics here, too. Sometimes they behave and show up just where I want them, sometimes not so much. I think eHarlequin has a picture gremlin!
Papaya, No, It probably wouldn't work! LOL I just have to remind myself that not everyone's on Holly-time. Sometimes I even remember! LOL
Jodie, Hugs...sorry things are so crazy there! Hoping we see more of you soon!
Marcie, I love Nathan Fillion and really loving Castle!
Sam, I'm sorry to hear about Cigars. I think the blog world is readjusting itself. And they do take an awful lot of time!
Good morning, Carrie!

*slinks back in quietly*
Thanks, guys. :-) I've got Friday and Monday off, and I'm *really* looking forward to that.
Trying to get my head back to the writing game, last night I did the September "Date With Destiny" challenge. If you're interested, it's in my eHQN blog, and also on the DWD page in the Write Stuff.
I'm working from home today, which will be nice...can do meetings in my jammies! DD has a short day at school, so I need to go get ready to push her out the door for the bus. I'll try to check in later...

Rushing
Hi everyone,
I've had quite a week. Day job is relentless, which is not the norm. Beginning of school is hard for my son. PTA membership chair has to be at all the opening events (3 this week!). And my brother-in-law's wedding is tomorrow!
I won't be online again until Sunday, I bet.
I read, caught up with everyone, had an Oreo, and now I have to rush off again!
Back next week. Have fun!

Jodie, I'm glad you have some days off...you sound as if you really need them!
And Ellen, you sound like you're going to need some days off too...that's a lot of stuff. Sorry the start of the school year is hard on your son. I'm sure that makes it very hard on you!

Waving....
Just waving quickly as I wait for the plumber to return with gadgets to locate the cleanout and view the inside of the main pipes....Why did the builder in its infinite wisdom bury the cleanout? Perhaps to give plumbers some extra work....Grr.
Good to see Jodie and Sam pop in! We've missed you.
Writer Ellen, I hope the wedding is wonderful. Even if it leaves one less Hartman brother for me.

WELCOME HOME, DADDY ~ Superromance ~ August 2009
Lovely pictures Jeannie...
what an amazing wedding!
Rae...congrats on your son's decision. My daughter is still talking the Marine Corps but is staying in college for now. Some people give her a crazy look but considering my family history when it comes to the Armed Forces, my daughter just says she'll be joining the "family business."
My stepdaughter has had her share of issues and really needs a new start in life. The USAF is going to give her the technical skills she needs and the ability stand on her own two feet and see that there is more out there in the world than the small town she lives in.
Loved the Wizard of OZ last night...it was amazing to see it on the big screen!

Computer Gremlins
The weirdest thing happened to me with my revisions. I sent them at the last possible minute, trying to clean up the manuscript as best I could for line edits. I felt pretty good about what I sent until today. I read through the manuscript again and the computer gremlins had replaced the heroine's first name and the word "she" sporadically throughout the manuscript with the word "I". It was like oddly random first person. The gremlins also put the occasional "I" between the last word of the sentence and the punctuation, which led to some strange syntax. The kicker is that I didn't do a single find-and-replace in the final copy of the manuscript. I'm leary of that function, so I don't know why the replacement occurred. This is the last time I use *** to break scenes instead of ###. Everytime I use *** something weird happens with the formatting.
I think this happened the same time that Kim's household appliances figuratively exploded around her as the ants marched in.
