Castle Del Romance

Fairy Tales can come true, they can happen to you, when you're young at heart....

So, step inside and enjoy some herbal tea, hot rock massages, a seaweed wrap,a salt scrub, and a hot oil massage are always available. As is chocolate and cheeseburgers and any type of 'comfort' food you desire in the surrounding castle walls.

Just be wary of the croc swimming in the moat.

First one in the castle!!

I was afraid the castle was gone...but here it is!  Hoping the rest of you find your way here!

Couldn't be without my castle

Haha, listen to me, "MY" castle. Tongue out Just hoping that some of the old regulars pop back in and some newbies decide to join us.

Aurelene, sounds like you had a nice night out. It's nice to finally put your picture to your posts.

We stayed in for New Years with my mom and the kids and at midnight, we went outside on the front porch and banged pots and pans together. A lot of our other neighbors were out doing the same thing. We made a heck of a racket.

Did anyone make any resolutions?

Rae

Aurelene's Purple

Aurelene,

I'm glad the new site let you post!  And your night sounds lovely...especially the purple dress!  Good for you!  And the coats sounds great.  All in all, sounds like a lovely way to bring in a new year!

I'm all about luxury items.  I have some high quality sheets on the bed and it's like sleeping on butter...well, without being sticky or nasty!  LOL

Welcome to our new castle.

Rae's Castle

Rae,

Hey, it is YOUR castle.  We love coming to visit!

No new year's resolution here.  A friend sent an article and instead of a resolution, I picked a new year's word.  A word to sort of center my year around.

My word?  Awareness.  I want to be more aware of the marvelous things in my life.  My family.  My friends.  Hey, and of course the castle!

Sometimes we all get so busy, so focused on where we're going we forget to notice where we are...so this year, I'm trying to be aware.

Aurelene, I've always wondered

I've always wondered why your words have hyphens between them.  At first, I thought maybe you were writing your posts in poems and wanted certain lines to BE a line but . . . hmm, don't see that pattern.  And on my screen, some of your lines went off the page.

Just curious,

Penn

Loooong time no see from!

Wow. Love what you've done with the place, Rae!

I like the no-resolution thing, except in essence, you have resolved to be more aware. But your way has more of a positive aspect where as the typical resolution is all about the inevitable countdown to the "breaking of the resolution" negativity.

Aware. Yes.  So being the interloper that I am, having been away so long.... I shall latch onto your Word and become more aware as well. Heh. Laughing

Your evening sounds wonderful, Aurelene. Love that you bucked the black eveningwear trend and obviously looked smashing.

Morning!

Good morning, Penn!

Thanks, Holly!

I'm returning your word. Laughing (Excuse the poor wrapping job... ). I've chosen my own word for 2008.

Committment.

I like it. It seems to sum up the plans I've made for myself this year. I blogged about it, so I can keep a year-long reminder to myself.

Since one of the plans I committed to is to find a job (resigned the last one to care for my injured grandson), and to submit a partial to Harl Rom, I'd best get to it.

Oh, and I bookmarked her site so I can grab a listen to her music this eveniing.

Afternoon!

Welcome back Cearha. Smile And we have Penn, too. Yay! Holly, Aurelene and I won't be talking to ourselves in here anymore.

Love the word for a year and love what you two picked. Awareness and Committment are both very good things to strive towards. Maybe once I have a little more time, I'll pick one. The first one that jumped into my mind was Patience, but I feel I have a lot of that and use it daily anyhow. Tongue out

Strong winds here in my neck of Pennsylvania and apparently the power went out at the schools, so I have three very happy children home doing three very different and loud things. There's a video game going, music and a movie. Patience is my virtue today.

Rae

Words

Cearha, I was happy to share my word, but I like the one you found for yourself!

Rae, Glad you found a word as well!  Yeah, it was windy here too yesterday.  Part of our fence blew down...and old split rail.  We needed to replace it anyway.  Slowly but surely, we've been putting up a six foot fence.  We finished the back and one side, so this side was next on the list anyway.  They're calling for more wind tomorrow.  SIGH

Allow

I finally got a chance to go over to the website, Holly and I decided on my word for the year. It jumped out at me from her list like a beacon in the fog.

Allow.

I think it's the perfect word. I'm going to allow myself not feel guilty by saying no. Heck, I'm going to allow myself to say no. Allow myself to feel a little selfish.

Perfect, yes?

Thanks for the link, Holly!

Rae

PS. Sorry about your fence.

Allow

That's a great word, Rae!   It took me a long time to figure out how to say no.  Sometimes I still slip up,  but mainly I remember.

How about 5 words?

I really need to work on verbosity.  I couldn't come up with a single word.  But I do have a tagline that I created for this year.  It's become my daily mantra.

Stay focused.  Work hard.  Believe.

5 Words?

Patricia,

As the self-proclaimed Goddess of the 2008 Word club, I decree that you may indeed have five words!  LOL  Seriously, great mantra!

Valerie and CH

This morning is a very sad one and it breaks my heart to have to tell you that Valerie's husband Paul passed away last night or the early morning before--I can never remember how that works in Australlia.

Rae lights candles all around the castle in honor of such a wonderful man.

Godspeed, Crocodile Hunter.

I wish there was something more I could do for her.

Thank you for posting this, Rae. We (Bat Cave) have just been too broken up over this to even think to let Valerie's many other friends know and mourn with her.

Oh, sweetie, I’m so very sorry. I can’t even imagine how difficult
this must be for you. Although we never met your dear CH, you helped us get to know
him through your posts. We can’t wrap you in our arms the way we wish we could,
but we’ll keep you both in our hearts and prayers.

On behalf of the Bat Cave, I'd like to extend this invitation:

NOTE:  Special con-flap-gration of bats is to be held in the In Memory of the Croc Hunter room on Thursday the 17th, 6 pm-8 pm US Eastern to fwap and toast the Croc Hunter.

This time corresponds with the time of Croc Hunter's services, Friday morning in Australia.

Haven't been in the castle for ages. Love the idea of the word for the year, but right now, I can't think of a good one. Too sad for Valerie.

My Condolences, Valerie

So sorry to hear of your loss.  My prayers are with you.

Croc Hunter

The way I look at it, CH will always be in the castle, haunting the halls and keeping us all safe from the croc in the moat, especially when his lovely wife visits our halls.

It's very cold here in NE Pa and we're all staying in. It's not snowing--only the occassional flurry but it feels like we're in Antartica. A houseful of people means not too much work getting done on anything I'm attempting to write today or any other day.

But, it's a good Irish Stew and Football day. Smile Anyone else out there as addicted to Football as moi?

Rae

Brrr...

One of the reasons I still live in Texas is because we generally don't have very cold weather where I live.   I understand that many of you have temps in the single digit (ack!), but for us, we're just not that used to the cold. By the way, the cold I'm whining about is around 46 deg F.

The football game is on, Rae, but I think I'm more interested in your Irish Stew. Heh.

Off to stir my spaghetti and meatballs instead.

Brrr...

Cearha,

I am sympathetic.  When you're cold, you're cold.  Doesn't matter what temp is.  People not used to the cold aren't as prepared.  Me?  I've got th fire going, I'm covered in a quilt and dressed in layers.  I'm toasty despite the ten degree weather!!

 Stay warm...think layers.

Cearha and layers....

I agree with the layering thing.... the problem is, when I finally stir from my cozy nest, I look like the abominal quilt monster. I tend to layer blankies ontop of my layers. Did I mention that I don't do cold? *snicker*

Today I don't wanna do cold AND rain. Miserable. So to that end, I've decided to ignore the outside world today and stay in my layers of layers and write my next crapter of the rough draft.

And fixate on hot Irish Stew. What exactly goes in to Irish Stew? And I'm going to toss bread crumbs to the croc. Appeasement, I hope.

Nana's Irish Stew

My Guy's mom makes it and she says it isn't true Irish Stew, but everyone likes it and eats it, and it warms you up and most importantly it is so easy. All it is, is Jar Gravy--I use three jars--hamburger that I sorta make little meatballs out of while raw and toss into the hot water/canned gravy. Onions, mushrooms and when the meat is cooked for awhile, you toss in potatoes and boil them in the gravy/water. Last night we upped it and made noodles and threw them into our bowls. Mark's mom calls it a toss between a poor man's stew and Irish. Guess it just sounds better to say Irish. She never gave me the recipe, just told me how to do it. It sounds kind of gross, but it is so good. Oh and I add salt and pepper.

The kids had a two-hour delay this morning, so I feel behind, but then again that seems to be the norm here.

 Rae

Thanks, Rae!

Boy, I've been making irish stew for years and dint know it. Heh.

I don't use the jarred gravy, but the result is the same. Heavy on the pepper too, so it heats ya up really well from the inside out. Surprised

Interruptions this morning, so the Muse is getting sulky. Must turn off the distractions.... well, mebbe just one more thread to check. Innocent

Ethel Merman Fuhrmann slayed me. Laughing I remember when you got her. Ella is too cute too.

My kids aren't the ones that are crazy for pets. That would be me.

Toy poodles. Teeny toy poodles to be exact. My latest is named Teddy Bear. He is a fuzzy apricot boy. Pretty, but useless, except he makes me happy.

Teddy Bear

Cearha,  I had a toy poodle growing up. He was named Coco and thought he was a german shepard.  LOL   Teddy Bear sounds delightful...and as long as he makes you happy, then he's doing his job!

Coco

I *almost* got a chocolate brown toy poodle and planned to name her Coco Chenille. But DH said get an apricot boy.  He was a teeny lil fat fuzzball who is less ferocious than he thinks... hence Teddy Bear.

He came at a most needed time in my life. He is in training to be my writing Muse, but I have to teach him that licking my hands while I'm trying to type, or biting my knuckles isn't conducive.

Speaking of, I'd better get cracking on the WIP.  By the way, rainy and 40 deg today and I think the temps are actually dropping as the sun comes up. How is that fair?

Ella

Is adorable. I'm keeping my kids far away from your blog because this is the same conversation that happens at my house every day. Especially since their cousins just got a new puppy and the neighbor next door got a one year old poodle/shitzu mix. My daughter loves Mimi--she came with the name.

I want a puppy, but I'm waiting until the Spring.

Rae

Muses and Puppies

Cearha, Yeah, not biting you while you work is a good idea for a muse!  LOL

Oh, Rae when you get the puppy let us know.  Spring is a good idea. Ella is doing well with the house-training, but it does involve me going out in the cold PA winds way too often for my comfort!

What's doing with everyone?

I'm waiting for a hopeful call from my hiring agency this morning.  My dream company looms.  It would be a very nice birthday present. I hope that the Fates agree. Or do they know something that I don't? Aaaah, what will be, will be....

I've agreed to writing another novel for *ahem* AN Publisher for our continuity series. Need to update websites and things to reflect that.

The ms I'm writing to target HRom is underway too.  This looks to be my only breather this morning. *flexes typing fingers and leads Muse gently towards her comfortable chaise....* Now, my dear..... *type*type*type

Fingers crossed, Cearha!

Good Luck, Cearha,

on both the call and the muse working for you. I wish my muse would come back from his hiatus. I say he's a man because he's moody and well, only a man would take off and not tell you where he's going.

Hall, I'll definitely let you know. Even though my neighbor says we share Mimi, I still want one of my own and yeah, the thoughts of standing outside in the cold don't appeal to me at all. /shivers.
