cotton"-towels..Also,high-thread-count-sheets.

I-already-have-damask..The-luxury-was-discussed

this-morning-on-the-Today-show.

Also,New-Year's-eve-was-interesting..Everyone-was-wearing-black,black/gold,black/silver,and-black/white.

I-came-in-wearing-purple-with-beading-and-sequins.

Needless-to-say..Everyone-saw-me..There-were-no

name-cards-on-the-tables-where-the-dinner-was

served..People-just-sat-at-the-closest-empty-table..I

sat-at-the-last-one..There-was-only-one-empty-chair

left..Someone-asked-if-I-was-waiting-for-someone.

I-said-no..After-a-while-one-of-the-men-started-patting

his-wife's-shoulder-and-saying-how-he-loved-his-wife..

Then,at-the-last-minute,some-late-comers-were-trying

to-find-a-seat..The-people-at-my-table-were-up-at

the-Hors-D'Ouvres-table..Me-and-one-lady-held-the-

seats-and-said-our-table-were-full..When-I-went-up

to-the-Hors-D'Ouvres-table-someone-behind-me

said,'May-I-compliment-you-on-your-purple'.I-said

thank-you-and-returned-to-my-table-without-turning-to-see-who-said-it.

WHen-we-went-into-the-theater,we-were-directed-to

sit-downstairs-because-they-needed-to-fill-seats.

I-got-and-aisle-seat..When-I-was-approaching-the-lobby

when-I-arrived-a-tall-woman-called-out-what-a-nice-coat

I-had..My-reversible-coat-is-black-raincoat-on-one-side

and-faux-fur-on-the-other..Sometime-before-intermission-it-got-cold-because-someone-opened-the

front-door..As-soon-as-it-was-intermission,I-took-my-coat-off-the-empty-seat-in-front-of-me-and-opened-it

to-the-fur-side-and-put-it-on...A-woman-on-the-row

behind-me-said-,"I'm_jealous"..I-said,don't-be-jealous,

go-to-Roamans,com-and-get-one..The-woman-who

called-after-me-when-I-first-arrived-was-seated-about

3-or-4-rows-back.She-yelled,"That-looks-like-FUR!"

I-didn't-answer-her-and-sat-down..

One-woman-came-up-to-me-before-the-play-started

and-told-me-it-was-her-daughter-who-was-playing-the

harp-outside-the-curtain..Then-she-asked-if-my-nephew

was-in-the-chorus-or-band..I-told-her-my-nephew-is

a-mechanic..Then-she-said,"You-just-came?"

Then-others-asked-if-it-was-my-first-time-being-there.

I_told-them-I_used-to-have-a-season-seat-in-the

'80s-for-the-Civic-Light-Opera..and-I-attended-the

symphony..Well,they-said-they-also-had-attended

CLO-in-the-'80s..There-were-older-women,75-or-80

who-were-wearing-fur-jackets,sable-or-silver-fox.

They-were-staring-at-my-hooded-coat..They-probably

had-their-coat-since-the-1950s..When-it-was-over

a-couple-offered-to-drive-me-to-my-car..They-were-parked-directly-in-front-of-the-theater,which-is-rare.I

said-ok-..My-car-was-behind-the-theater-near-the-movie-theater..I-only-agreed-because-my-shoes-were-killing-me..I-got-home-in-time-for-the-fireworks-to-start-as-my-key-was-in-the-door-and-I-turned-on-tv-and-saw

the-crowd-yelling.

I'm glad the new site let you post!  And your night sounds lovely...especially the purple dress!  Good for you!  And the coats sounds great.  All in all, sounds like a lovely way to bring in a new year!

I'm all about luxury items.  I have some high quality sheets on the bed and it's like sleeping on butter...well, without being sticky or nasty!  LOL

I've always wondered why your words have hyphens between them.  At first, I thought maybe you were writing your posts in poems and wanted certain lines to BE a line but . . . hmm, don't see that pattern.  And on my screen, some of your lines went off the page.

Committment.

I like it. It seems to sum up the plans I've made for myself this year. I blogged about it, so I can keep a year-long reminder to myself.

Since one of the plans I committed to is to find a job (resigned the last one to care for my injured grandson), and to submit a partial to Harl Rom, I'd best get to it.

Oh, and I bookmarked her site so I can grab a listen to her music this eveniing.

Rae, Glad you found a word as well!  Yeah, it was windy here too yesterday.  Part of our fence blew down...and old split rail.  We needed to replace it anyway.  Slowly but surely, we've been putting up a six foot fence.  We finished the back and one side, so this side was next on the list anyway.  They're calling for more wind tomorrow.  SIGH

That's a great word, Rae!   It took me a long time to figure out how to say no.  Sometimes I still slip up,  but mainly I remember.

I really need to work on verbosity.  I couldn't come up with a single word.  But I do have a tagline that I created for this year.  It's become my daily mantra.

Stay focused.  Work hard.  Believe.

Thank you for posting this, Rae. We (Bat Cave) have just been too broken up over this to even think to let Valerie's many other friends know and mourn with her.

I am sympathetic.  When you're cold, you're cold.  Doesn't matter what temp is.  People not used to the cold aren't as prepared.  Me?  I've got th fire going, I'm covered in a quilt and dressed in layers.  I'm toasty despite the ten degree weather!!

Cearha,  I had a toy poodle growing up. He was named Coco and thought he was a german shepard.  LOL   Teddy Bear sounds delightful...and as long as he makes you happy, then he's doing his job!

Mouse mummies .... eeeek!!!  

 I think we may be on top of the problem, thank goodness and my daughter will be visiting soon -- she always brings Bernard and Nigel, the world's biggest cats, with her.  Most of the wildlife is welcome, Phil the Pheasant, the odd fox, hedgehog, badger.  But rodents...  Ugh!
