Our theme for this month is It's Raining Men and for some ladies, the sexy Dex Messina is the perfect man...but Dex's life is about to change...for two beautiful ladies...and one is a daughter he'd never know about.
This week, Emily McKay joins us to chat about her sexy hero whose life is thrown into havoc by his adorable five month old daughter. Emily, a mother of two, knows how babies can turn your life upside. That's why she's here to chat with readers about BABY ON THE BILLIONAIRE'S DOORSTEP!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for stopping by!
This book is particularly close to my heart, so I'm excited that eHarlequin is hosting a discussion about it.
Emily
Emily,
I just started reading this, and I'm on chapter two. Oh, my!
I hated to put it down last night as I started reading it in bed while My Guy took his shower. I was disappointed that he didn't take as long of one. As soon as I'm done scouring the boards a little, I plan on finishing it today. I'm so intrigued and can't wait to see how this pans out.
Rae
Welcome...
Hi All
Let me welcome Emily McKay to our boards this week. For those who've not yet read BABY ON THE BILLIONAIRE'S DOORSTEP, put it to the top of your TBR pile. I'm sure Emily is looking forward to the discussion.

Emily, Emily, Emily....
October? Are you freaking kidding me? I have to wait until October to read Derek's story??? Surely there must be some hosty incentive program out there that entitles us to read this story say, tomorrow?
LOL
So, I'm going to be hating the sound of my alarm going off tomorrow to deposit a child at the bus stop...but it was worth it.
I LOVED this story. Seriously. I wondered how you were going to pull this off...how Lucy was going to pull this off and I think I bit some nails struggling through it with Lucy.
I don't want to give a whole lot of this story away, because it isn't fair to those who haven't read it...but I definitely want to talk about this some more, like where you came up with this idea...and why do I have to wait until October to read Derek's story?
Yup, went straight back to that.
When I'm more coherent, I plan on adding this to my part of the blog/book challenge. Way to hook, line and sink me, Emily.
Rae
Read it in one sitting!
I couldn't put it down. My poor man had a late supper because I didn't want to break away from the story. TV cliffhangers kill me, so if I'm interested in something, I stay with it until it's done.
I adore Dex. The picture on the cover didn't quite match my mental picture of him, but that isn't so important to me. I look forward seeing how you can make Derek into less of a cad. I enjoyed Lucy as well. A strong headed, soft-hearted woman.
As an adoptee, I'm a sucker for baby on doorstep stories and this one got my tear ducts working once or twice.
Loved the book!

Love your name, by the way....
I couldn't agree more. I noticed a little bit of humor in this as well, which I thought was cool and made it totally a well rounded emotional read. I chuckled when the reference to Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf was made and loved how Lucy reminded him of how the story really ended.
And yes, I was crying--not an ugly cry, mind you, but I got enough looks last night as I was clutching the book in one hand and reaching for the tissues absent mindedly--of course My Guy knows to push the box closer to me during moments like this.
Rae
Lol!
Sorry, Rae, that it won't be out until October. <g>
Glad you enjoyed it though. That's always so nice to hear.
Btw, I'm kind of a newbie to the eharlequin boards, so be gentle with me.
Emily,
If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask and I was joking about the hosty incentive...although...ha ha ha.

Hi Emily! I've had the book
Hi Emily! I've had the book for two weeks on the top of my TBR pile, but real life keeps getting in the way of my reading. However, with all these rave reviews, I will struggle to fit it in this week (as soon as my proposals are done.
So tell us a little about your writing schedule with two young children-- do you fit it in where you can or do you have-- ha ha-- some kid of reasonable schedule?
Thanks for sharing with us, btw. I'm a sucker for adopted baby stories too.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. Maybe I should apologize for making you cry, but instead I'll just take it as a compliment. <g>
Btw, do you scuba dive? That's what it looked like from your picture. I'm a big diver myself.

A husband that knows when to nudge the klenex closer? Now, that's a hero!
As for adding humor in my books ... I always try to do that. Actually, it's not so much that I try to do, that's just the way I see the world. I think humor makes everything stronger and better. I think it makes an emotional book more emotional. If you think about some of the real greats in the industry--Susan Elizabeth Philips, for example--their books are funny and sad. That's what I like to read, so that's what I write.
Hi Tracy!
Ha! I know all about towering TBR stacks. Mine is getting larger all the time.
Those two kids you mentioned have something to do with that. For example right now, I've got the three month old sleeping on my belly and the 2 year old playing with her little people plane on the sofa beside me. Later today, when it's clean up time, I might be sorry I let her shoved her entire collection of hair barettes and pony tail holders into the Little People plane, but for now, she's having fun.
Oh, baby!
I just finished Baby on the Billionaire's Doorstep and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. Dex and Lucy are such a wonderful couple - they come together so naturally and in such satisfying ways! And I won't give it away but I really didn't expect that ending - *happy dancing*. I read the whole book in one gulp and now I'm dying to read about Derek. I looooove series that feature brothers. Maybe Dex and Derek have a long lost sibling they don't know about yet? or a cousin...?? < grin > Thanks so much for the fun read, I'm looking forward to the next!
great read
What a lovely story BABY ON THE BILLIONAIRE'S DOORSTEP is, Emily. I tore through it not quite in one sitting but almost. I enjoyed the glimpse into the world of diamonds Dex gave me. And Lucy is really appealing--just the right mix of smart, determined, and vulnerable. I'm looking forward to Derek's story, too, and I'm with McGirl--can you add more Messina siblings or relations so we can keep reading?
further Messinas?
Hmm ... intriguing idea, having a long lost brother show up. I kind of like it, actually. Just now I'm working on the second book in the Hudsons of Beverly Hills continuities. But after that, I've been toying with the idea of doing Quinn's story. However I do kind of like the idea of a brother they didn't know they had showing up. I'll have to toss around ideas with my critique partner.
Emily
definitely take the crying comment as a compliment - it means you got to me. of course, my man would say i boo hoo at almost anything - but that's not true. only the moving stuff.
yep. i scuba dive and my mug shot is from a Bahama trip. diving is how i met my man and is a special way for us to spend time together. sharing a kiss 70 feet under is kinda fun... just make sure that regulator stays handy
Rae - thanks for the name compliment

That's so cool that you met your guy while diving.
My hubby and I love to dive. We haven't been in over a year, though, and I'm starting to get the itch again. We've never been to the Bahamas.
Great Read
Hi Emily!
I finished Baby last night and loved it. I agree with the other poster that the cover pic didn't do Dex justice, but I just remodeled him in my head (sorry)! I loved his laid back streak and his utter cluelessness about kids.
I can really tell you're a Mom, Izzie was just too real and adorable with all the right quirks - just as 3 dimensional as the other characters.
No spoilers here - but I I loved the twist at the end. It kept me on my seat thru the whole book and I guessed wrong!
I can't WAIT to read Derek's story now!
p.s. Highland Park
I have to add this personal bit. We lived in the Dallas area in the 80's. During that time, there was a newspaper article about ambitious yuppies buying homes in Highland Park and then not being able to afford to furnish them (no curtains, etc). For some reason, I always pictured them cooking in the fireplace like hobos (no one said they couldn't pay their electric bills) -lol
Anyway, thanks for restoring my illusions about the Dallas elite - it was fun to revist Dallas through your book!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! And I'm glad you enjoyed Izzie as well. She's the first child I've written, and I had so much fun with her. One of the things that surprised me when I became a mom was how much personality babies have from such a young age. So I enjoyed being to show that with Izzie.
As for Derek ... well, I've just finished up his book. I've before written books that were that connected. It was a fun challenge, because I knew people would have expectations about him and I wanted to do him justice.
Highland Park
I had so much fun researching real estate in Dallas! My sister lives in the area, so she pointed me in the right direction and then I "shopped" on line for a house I liked. I was astonished by how expensive the houses there are. But it was a lot of fun seeing how the other half lives.
surprise ending?
While I'm sure there is still a HEA, the teasers written by these posters about a surprise ending have moved your book to the top of my TBR pile.
Good job everyone. Maybe Emily is hiring a publicity consultant?
