Scots in Kilts
Well, I made it as well. The new look is definitely new. I actually like it more every time I visit.
I must share something with you all. I'm in Atlanta with my dh for a FILK-con (Georgia Filk). FILK is Science Fiction Folk Singing. Think of it as Weird Al Yankovich for Trekkies.
He loves it . . . . I'm writing.
Anyhow, I went to the banquet/dinner dance with him last night and there was a guy in a kilt who was part of one of the FILK singing groups (The Brobdignagian Bards.) Well ladies, he danced. In the kilt. ::wow::
I wanted to go up to him afterwards and thank him, for all women everywhere, for dancing in a kilt. Luckily, my dh is soooooo not jealous. He thought I was hilarious for ogling the lovely Scot all evening. And no I didn't want to dance with him. That way I wouldn't have been able to enjoy that fine butt.
Almost made me want to write a historical -- almost;

Kilt Story
Hi Mallory!
I am so glad you like the new Community design. Every day I like it more and more too. It took a little getting used to but, now it is so much easier to interact with authors and readers.
And thank you for sharing your very funny kilt story. I am just sorry that I couldn’t have witnessed this dance myself! Thank goodness you have a very understanding dh. Mine would find it amusing as well.

Hard to find but worth the trouble
It took me a while to find this place, but I do like it. It's great that we can post pictures now. I just can't resist posting my Jan. cover.
LOL on the Scott dancing, Mallory. I wish I'd been there. I need to go to more conferences. Could RWA book him for dinner entertainment? :-)

My copy of "Newborn Conspiracy" arrived today. So far I have absolutely loved the stories and will be sad to see them come to an end. I think the covers are just precious. Nothing is more "ahhhhhhh" inspiring than a strong man cradleing a small child with love.

That cover reminds me of my great nephew playing with his grandfathers hat. I got pictures at Christmas with him doing that and messing with his mustache. He is only 10 months old and is too cute and already crawling.
Hope my February books come in soon and I can read the next Five Alarm Baby books.

Delores - Texas always comes through in a person. There is a difference when someone from Texas or with Texas roots writes a story set in Texas. They get the true understanding that Texas is not just a place but a feeling.
Is the sheriff from the Christmas book going to get his story in the new series? I liked him.

Elaine, I agree!!!
As for Sheriff Medina, he's going to make another appearance in an Intrigue next year, and then I hope he'll get his own story after that. I'm so glad you remembered him. He didn't have very many pages, but I was hoping he'd stand out.

Checking in
Delores, I looove your Texas Paternity idea. Can't wait for the books to come out.
I'm swamped with edits here that must be done or else. Then I'll get to start a new project and that is always exciting. I can't wait to get to know my ex-commando hero. It'll be a cross-country chase thriller. My working title is Protective Custody. I think it might have been used before so I'll probably have to come up with something better.
I'm running a new contest on my web site if anyone is interested. The lucky winner will receive the top 5 books on her wish list.
Well, back to work with me. (Yes, that was the sound of the whip cracking.)

Read Texas Ransom
Over the weekend I read Texas Ransom and it was very good but much different from most Intrigues. The husband was looking for his wife who had been kidnapped and what he had to do to get her back. There were a few suprises along the way and he really changed during the book.
Also read Sheik Seduction and it was very good. I had guessed who the main bad guy was but not the reason he was so bad.

Hi Dana, Elaine, Julie and Delores!
Dana, Protective Custody is a great title. Let us know if you get to keep it.

Elaine--I'm so glad you
Elaine--I'm so glad you liked Sheik Seduction. I'm about finished with Karim's story. It's due in a few days. I had fun writing my desert themed books.
About keeping my title--I didn't do to well in 2007. None of my titles were picked. Not that I'm complaining. My editor is much better with titles than I am. I'll just have to wait and see what will happen with this one.
Julie and Delores--What's in your line up for 2008? I want to make sure I don't miss anything.

Julie's 2008 line-up
Thanks for asking, Dana!
This year I have my current release from Blaze, AT YOUR COMMAND.
Then in June, I launch my Precinct: Brotherhood of the Badge mini-series from Intrigue. 4 cops who are brothers. Their father, a veteran cop is murdered, and despite departmental regulations, they'll do whatever it takes to bring their father's murderer to justice. Along the way, they'll deal with escaped convicts, abusive ex-husbands, twisty mysteries, a cold-blooded hitman, a stalker, a leggy medical examiner, a single mom with an adorable toddler, a shy plain Jane secretary with secrets, a quirky eye-witness with a trio of guard dogs, and one very mysterious and dangerous bad guy.
Here are the titles:
Protective Instincts-June
Armed and Devastating-July
Private S.W.A.T. Takeover-October
Kansas City Christmas-November
Intrigued? (couldnt' resist the pun

Line-Up
Julie, Dana and Delores, I think 2008 is going to be a fantastic year for Intrigue. What a great line-up of titles.
I find it fascinating that a majority of your titles are not chosen. Have you ever been disappointed with a title your editor picked?
Oh, and if a link is available and you're referring to your book, please feel free to link to your book on eHarlequin.com. In fact, I encourage it!
Jeanette
Titles
I think most of my titles have been fine. Some I've loved, others were just there.
Probably the only one that really bothered me was a cross-line continuity book I did (the other books were in the American line, mine was an Intrigue) called THE DUKE'S COVERT MISSION. I begged them to change it. Talk about giving away a major plot point!! I understand the idea of including hooks in the title to help readers gravitate toward what's inside--in this case a royalty book. But it sort of ruined the whole mystery of whether my hero had succumbed to his troubled past and gone over to the dark side
or whether he was working undercover and only pretending to be bad.

Elaine, thank you!! YAY! I'm so glad you enjoyed Newborn Conspiracy. And yep, the last book, The Horseman's Son, is out next month.
Jeanette, most of the time I'm okay with the titles I'm given. Others, I know were chosen because they have a marketing hook (like Julie's duke). The editors have info about what sells and what doesn't so I trust them to give me a title that will help sales.
